A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

In today’s hectic environment, it is easy to forget that taking time to enjoy each day is vital to our health and well-being. Creating a sense of place can help overcome that challenge and has endless benefits to you and your family. Being conscious of your surroundings and investing in the beauty of your environment is a great way to remain present and appreciate each day.

By creating a sense of place, the Florence Community Services Department provides residents with critical connections to the natural environment, recreational pursuits, educational programs, wellness activities, and special events. Our dedicated employees in the Library, Parks, Recreation, the Senior Center, and the Fitness Center are committed to ensuring that every resident has an opportunity to experience outstanding activities and events that enhance quality of life and help you and your family enjoy YOUR community.

Fall is also the time our department partners with volunteers and community groups to beautify our shared spaces on Florence Makes

Announcement:

a Difference Day. I’d like to encourage all Florence residents to participate in this year’s Florence Makes a Difference Day on Saturday, October 28th. This is the perfect opportunity to come together, tackle a project you would love to see accomplished, and work together to create a sense of place we can all share and enjoy. In the lead up to Florence Makes a Difference Day, we encourage our residents to send in any clean-up projects or beautification ideas to the Community Services Department so volunteers can participate in projects that are meaningful to them and they can be proud of for years to come.

Finally, as you peruse the fall Activity Guide, I hope you and your family consider new opportunities to find your “sense of place” by participating in our amazing programs and events and by visiting our excellent parks and facilities.

Have a fantastic Fall in Florence!

Have a special skill set or talent? Share it with the community! The Community Services Department is always looking for contracted instructors to lead special interest classes. Please contact the Recreation division at (520) 868-7040 for more information on how you can lead a new program for the community!
