FRIENDS OF THE THEATRE If you enjoy the theatre, why not become a Friend of the Theatre?

Friends of the Theatre is an organisation where members volunteer to work in various aspects of the theatre such as ushering, bar, candy bar and program selling. Friends receive discounts to many of the shows listed in Spotlight, and also receive this newsletter mailed direct to them. Each time a Friend of the Theatre works they receive a Performance Work Voucher, which is exchanged for tickets to events. Unlimited seats are available in exchange for Performance Work Vouchers on events in Spotlight bearing the blue star symbol. For other events, voucher seats are limited to a total of six seats per performance. Further details as well as membership forms are available from the Box Office.

GENERAL INFORMATION Theatre programs start promptly at the advertised start time and latecomers will not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. Smoking is not allowed in any part of the Pilbeam Theatre or other Council venues. The use of cameras and recording devices during performances is illegal and penalties for infringement of copyright in this way are severe. Please ensure all mobile phones are switched off before entering the auditorium. Crying or fidgety children can be a distraction to other theatregoers and performers, so if you bring your small child to the theatre, please book an aisle seat in case you need to exit the auditorium.

2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is back in 2014, with a big night of comedy from some of the world’s funniest comedians.

The 2014 Roadshow lineup inclues: Adam Rozenbachs, Greg Behrendt, Elbow Skin, Kate McLennan.

Adam Rozenbachs is a stand up comedian, writer, broadcaster and ventriloquist dummy disliker, and veteran of five successful Melbourne Comedy Festival shows. Peppa Pig Live!

Originally from London’s West End, Peppa Pig Live! Treasure Hunt has delighted almost 85,000 Australians since it landed last year. Now, this popular live show is coming to Rockhampton. In this beautiful theatrical production, Peppa Pig and her friends set off on a treasure hunt. Peppa, her brother George and friend Danny Dog get up to fun and games on a day out on Grandad Dog’s boat. There are clues aplenty as Pedro Pony, Polly Parrot and Zoe Zebra help them find their treasure as they all enjoy a day of adventure.

Heritage Festival

Open the door to the Region’s heritage at the Rockhampton Heritage Festival at the Heritage Village in May. There will be displays of pioneer housing, vintage machinery and transportation as well as demonstrations of blacksmithing, timber cutting, and old time domestic tasks like butter churning, damper making and more.

Be entertained by the bush band Simply Bushed and inspect the beautifully restored cars of the MG Car Club. There is also a Chad Morgan concert and a Bush Poet’s Breakfast (ticketed events - extra charge). Festival entry tickets at the gate. The Rockhampton Heritage Festival is a Rockhampton Regional Council event produced with financial assistance from The Australian Government through the Community Heritage Program and supported by Ergon Energy.

Celebrate summer with images captured by local photographers for ABC Open’s Snapped photography challenge. The exhibition showcases the true essence of summer in this region. Wotopera Original operas meaningful to the lives of young people. WotOpera unlocks the creative potential of young people. Over 80 students from four Rockhampton high schools have written four operas that showcase their creativity, talents and boundless imaginations. The students collaborated to produce their own stories, then composed the music and designed and painted their sets in a series of four one-day workshops representing just 21 hours! The four schools will come together to perform their individual works at the Pilbeam Theatre, Rockhampton.

Central Queensland Craft Expo Two internationally acclaimed fabric artisans will attend the Central Queensland Craft Expo at the Rockhampton Showgrounds in June. Free arts workshops every week Creative Capricorn will host weekly arts workshops in some of Rockhampton’s great cultural and heritage venues. Workshops will be held every Saturday afternoon from 1-3pm. A children’s program will operate weekly at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre and a program open to all ages will operate on rotation between the Botanic and Kershaw Gardens. With their awardwinning work, 2 One Another, Sydney Dance Company weaves a vivid, exultant and sensual study of human interaction – charting the myriad actions and reactions, gestures and relationships, connections and disconnections that make up a life. Set against a pulsing, pixelated backdrop, the piece thrums with a driving, baroque-meets-electronica soundtrack, penned by the able hand of composer Nick Wales. Shot through with the exquisite poetry fragments of Samuel Webster, this is dance at its most engaging and multi-dimensional. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council.
