360 Allstars

An explosive, intensive, sensual and impressively athletic performance, full of raw energy with a distinctly Cuban flavour. Ballet Revolución, the hit international dance company, mixes the dynamics of contemporary dance, brilliant ballet, powerful street dance and hip hop giving the world ‘Ballet with Attitude’.

BMX Flatlanders, breakdancers, percussion artists, basketball freestylers, live looping, and a Roue Cyr artist are all part of the extreme talents that make up 360 Allstars, to be performed at the Pilbeam Theatre in July. 360 Allstars is described as being a ‘mindblowing feast for the senses’ and includes spectacular stage acts, live music and stunning AV projections, resulting in a one of a kind ‘urban circus’. The production replaces traditional circus art forms with contemporary performance styles. Instead of acrobats there will be break dancers, instead of a juggler there will be a basketball freestyler, and instead of a unicyclist there will be a BMX rider and more.

Don Giovanni

Greg pops the question to Ginny but suspects that she might be having an affair. Ginny is having an affair with her middle-aged boss who she must go to see to break off the affair. Greg follows her, thinking she has gone to her parents’ house for the weekend. This will be the perfect opportunity to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage – not realizing that the ‘father’ is really her lover. Make sure you bring your heart pills because this will be the funniest play you will see this year! Performed by Rockhampton Little Theatre.

Be swept up in the stylishly sexy decadence straight out of La Dolce Vita in Oz Opera’s new production of Mozart’s classic opera, Don Giovanni.

The Don spends his days in the company of gorgeous women, fine food and the best champagne, and he’s ready to add more women to his catalogue of conquests. But this time his dalliances are not going entirely to plan. Donna Anna wants to avenge the death of her father (which Don Giovanni may have had something to do with), and the abandoned Donna Elvira seems to disrupt his seductive plans at every turn. Meanwhile, Zerlina just wants to get married without the Don’s amorous interference...or does she? But something more sinister is waiting just around the corner. Is opera’s favourite bad boy about to meet his match? Sung in English, performed with chamber orchestra. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council. Part of the 2013 See It Live Theatre Season.

Paul Kelly

The Comedy of Errors

Last October Australian singer songwriter Paul Kelly released his 19th studio album Spring And Fal’. This July and August he will be touring cities and towns around Australia performing the record in its entirety, followed by a generous selection of older songs. This selection will change from night to night and will include well known songs and a few surprises. The band with Paul will be Dan Kelly on guitar and vocals, J. Walker, who co -produced and played on the album, Zoe Hauptmann on bass (who recently performed on the Finn and Kelly tour) and Bree Van Reyk (Holly Throsby, Seeker Lover Keeper) on drums.

Bell Shakespeare Director Imara Savage takes on one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies with style. Sharp banter and comical word-play lure us into a contemporary world where characters are reinvented, individuality is fluid, and bigger themes lie just below the surface. Over the course of this fast-paced comedy, truths are increasingly unstable, accidents more unfortunate and the boundary between what’s real and what isn’t becomes even more tenuous. A Bell Shakespeare and State Theatre Company of South Australia co-production. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council. Part of the 2013 See It Live Theatre Season.

A young woman stands in front of a crowd to speak her memories, her truth and her construction. Reality gives way to memory and memory gives way to imagination. Constructing the set around her in real-time, the performer acts as a conduit of multiple stories as reality, memory and imaginings play out in a filmic and sonic landscape. Based on the stories of lost loved ones collected in interviews with residents of her home town of Ayr, North Queensland, director Genevieve Trace explores the psychological construction of a life through the stories of what has past. Audiences will be left questioning the reality and imaginings of the memories of those they hold most dear…. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council and Metro Arts.
