Hello, everyone! With all Midterms finally over, our Chapter has some time to relax a lot of hard work. Here are some highlights of the past couple of months that show where we are now!
Every well-laid scheme goes awry, and that’s true for us college students as much as for anyone. Still, our camaraderie and hard work keep us on the path to long-term success!

Informal Recruitment Week
This semester’s Fall Recruitment was a strange time for our Greek community at Florida Southern College. Our IFC has recorded this as the lowest turnout we’ve seen in years. As such, we needed to work hard in order to compete with the other fraternities on campus.
Tuesday
Our first event was a video game night at the Snake Pit, a space on campus filled with computers used mostly for playing video games. This event, though consistently popular, was too late in the day for a large turnout.
Wednesday
Our second event was Grilling on Mr. George’s Green. This event started out well, with some familiar faces coming over for burgers and sweet tea. Then a powerful storm arrived while we were cooking, and all of us were left scrambling to pack the food away and get our things out of the rain! Sadly, we had to end our event early.
Thursday
This day’s event was dodgeball on the Green. Thankfully, we had a sizable turnout and clear skies, making it a well-needed break from the turmoil of the previous few days. Today was definitely the highlight of the week.

Friday
As is tradition, Friday was the day of the Red Rose Dinner. This exclusive event connects us to our roots, and this year allowed us to enjoy seeing one of our alumni, Danny Clemens. A nice dinner with the brothers was a well-needed celebration for the end of Recruitment Week!

Our New Recruit!
This semester, we are proud to present Vincent Leblanc as our newest Associate Member! Vincent is a Sophomore student and a long-time friend of the Fraternity, and has already contributed to our community by playing as part of our Intramural teams.
Our Place On Campus
These past couple of months have been focused heavily on reaching out to our campus community. We at Beta Beta know that our ability to meet new people and show ourselves to be open and friendly will be crucial for the upcoming Spring recruitment. Being active on campus enables us to raise funds and awareness, both for philanthropy and for our Chapter. Besides that, it gives us the chance to enjoy our spare time together.
Sweethearts, aside from being a historic tradition of fraternities across the country, are a cherished part of our Beta Beta community. Our Sweethearts are ambassadors to the sororities on campus, and support us in the events we hold for fundraising, philanthropy, and fun. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our newest Sweetheart, Allie Gibbs! A member of Gamma Phi Beta, Allie has been a close friend of our members and other Sweethearts for some time, and we are excited to welcome her to our family on campus.
Our Place on Campus
This year’s Greek Week has come and gone, and despite our small size, we punched far above our weight, coming in 3 place overall after a hard fought battle for the top spot. Our team with Kappa Delta and Delta Delta Delta won 1 place in the first two events, the Costume Contest and Music Trivia, but sadly wasn’t able to compete in budget or in numbers with larger chapters turning out for Penny Wars fundraising or donations. Still, all agreed that the three Greek organizations on our team each made a heroic effort, and we’re proud of how far we reached!
The events we have on campus aren’t just for networking with other students. Sometimes they are a vital part of fundraising for our Chapter. Case in point was a new kind of event for us: a Bake Sale. Our first Bake Sale last semester went very well, so we are planning a series of them for this semester as well. Our first one, on September 26, was a result of a lot of hard work, and proved to be an important learning experience that has taught us a lot about promoting ourselves and running fundraisers. All in all, the Bake Sale did a lot to prepare us for the future.
Our Place on Campus
The work we do to gain the attention and respect of our campus is an important part of the life of our Brotherhood. The health of our Chapter depends on it. But in the midst of this, we cannot forget the mission our Chapter is entrusted with. The Ability Experience needs no introduction, but it does need our support. With your donations, our Chapter can show that it places our moral mission to better the lives of people with disabilities at the forefront of its identity. Please, scan the QR Code or go to the URL to donate to the Ability Experience.
One of our favorite events from the semester so far was our Bonfire Night. We invited people across campus to stop by for a public event, handing out flyers at our Bake Sale in order to draw attention. That night, we had roughly 20 non-Brothers in attendance, with many freshmen and sophomores The event had plenty of food, with toasted marshmallows, s’mores, and hamburgers on the grill available for guests. While eating and playing volleyball, we had plenty of time to meet new people. https://give.abilityexperience .org/team/624409

Dear
Alumni of Beta Beta,
Thank you very much for reading this edition of Beta Beta Byline! We’re very happy for the opportunity to reconnect with our Alumni. Last edition’s was focused strongly on the importance of Brotherhood and a sense of family in our Chapter. It was informed by the time spent away from each other, and came after much reflection on the tasks ahead of us. This time, the newsletter came to place greater attention to our activities on campus, to show how we are working hard to carry our Chapter into the future.
As always, we want to thank all of our Alumni members for their support. You are all a continuing part of this community, and we are always proud to see your successes. Here’s to a future full of continued growth, opportunity, and brotherhood!
