THE NEWSLETTER FOR ALUMNI AND FRIENDS OF THE ALPHA IOTA CHAPTER OF PI KAPPA PHI AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY

LETTER FROM THE ARCHON To our alumni, parents and friends: My name is Tudor Munteanu. I am a rising senior from Daphne, Alabama, and I currently serve as the archon of the Alpha Iota Chapter. As we wrap up the 2025-26 academic year, I wanted to provide an update on the chapter for those we haven’t connected with in a while. Alpha Iota is as strong as ever. We remain one of the largest fraternities on Auburn’s campus, with around 200 brothers. It has been an incredible year for our brotherhood, whether we were hosting bands in the backyard, enjoying our annual crawfish boil or competing in our Jungle Week activities. It was also a pleasure to host so many of you on campus for our Parents’ and Alumni Weekend in the fall and our Moms’ Weekend and Dads’ Weekend this spring. We have continued to lead through service, reaching a major milestone by becoming the top fundraising Pi Kappa Phi chapter in the nation for The Ability Experience. Our annual War of the Roses raised $97,000, and our brothers actively participated in philanthropy by signing up for an Ability Camp at Camp ASCCA and continuing our tradition of sponsoring a Miracle League team.

This year was also one of profound remembrance. The dedication of the Cole Kelley Memorial Pavilion stands as a testament to our brotherhood being lifelong. It is a space that will forever honor Cole’s legacy and serve as a constant reminder of the bond we share. Looking ahead, we are incredibly excited for the fall 2026 semester. We look forward to bringing in a new class of brothers and hosting all of you back at the house for tailgates this football season. Most importantly, please mark your calendars for the weekend of November 13-14 as we celebrate Alpha Iota’s Centennial. As we prepare for this milestone, we aren’t just looking back at a century of history; we are laying the foundation for the next 100 years of Alpha Iota. Thank you for your continued support of this chapter. It is an honor to lead these men. Best, Tudor Munteanu, #2140

100 YEARS OF ALPHA IOTA: THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

T

his November, the Alpha Iota Chapter will reach a milestone that few organizations ever achieve: 100 years of brotherhood at Auburn University. Our story began on October 2, 1926, when James T. Russell founded this chapter. In the century since, Alpha Iota has grown from those first few ambitious men into a premier chapter of 200 members. This Centennial is a celebration of every man who has worn the star and lamp and the lifelong bonds that began on the Plains. We invite all alumni, families and friends to join us for a historic weekend this fall.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE Friday, November 13: Centennial Banquet

We will kick off the weekend at the Auburn Hotel and Dixon Conference Center for a formal dinner banquet. This will be an evening dedicated to our 100-year history, with a chance to celebrate and reconnect with brothers across generations. We look forward to diving into the stories and traditions that have defined us since 1926.

Saturday, November 14: Centennial Tailgate

On Saturday, we will gather at the chapter house for a tailgate to watch the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game. Even though the Tigers are away that weekend, we are bringing the game-day atmosphere to the house with food, drinks and plenty of space to watch the game together.

Registration

Due to the scale of this historic event, the weekend’s events will require tickets. Registration will open to our alumni and their guests, followed by the parents of our undergraduate members.

Freshman Brock Bergey won IFC’s annual BP with BT Home Run Derby.

We highly encourage everyone to register as soon as possible and, more importantly, to reach out to brothers to ensure your class is well represented. Click here to register for the Alpha Iota Centennial Celebration.

Room Block

To make your stay as convenient as possible, we have secured a room block at the Auburn Hotel. You can reserve your room here. We are still finalizing specific details and will be sharing more information as we get closer to November. We cannot wait to welcome you back to Auburn to celebrate a century of Alpha Iota. If you have questions about the Centennial celebration, contact Ethan Norman.

LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE

G

iving back to The Ability Experience continues to be a core part of our brotherhood. The 2025-2026 academic school year provided numerous opportunities for the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi to engage in philanthropic events. During fall 2025, our annual War of the Roses philanthropy week raised $97,093 for The Ability Experience. Sororities competed against each other in events such as dodgeball, Pie a Pi Kapp and a social media competition to support The Ability Experience. The brothers of Pi Kappa Phi raised awareness and funds for a cause that means a great deal to us. In addition to fundraising in spring 2026, brothers spent time getting to know the members of The Ability Experience through Camp ASCCA and volunteering and Miracle League Baseball. At Camp ASCCA, brothers spent time refurbishing the grounds to prepare them for campers. Miracle League is an inclusive baseball program that removes barriers for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. Brothers help on the field, cheer from the sidelines or simply connect with participants. This experience reminded us that impact goes far beyond donations; it’s about showing up and building genuine connections. As summer starts, we are excited to announce that two of our freshman brothers, Cooper Marte and Will Saunders, participated in Ability Camp Honduras 2026, in Comayagua, Honduras. This two-week mission trip provided more than 80 people with disabilities and their families with access to medical care. Our brothers helped build a medical clinic that will make this care possible. In addition to this amazing opportunity, brothers Pete Kelley and Nabil Haamrang are participating in the Journey of Hope. Biking more than 8,000 miles across the United States, these two will be a part of a group of men on a mission to build relationships, raise awareness and celebrate the abilities of all people. These men follow in the footsteps of brother Tyler Collins, who completed Gear Up Florida in 2025.

We are proud of what we’ve accomplished in the past year, but even more motivated to continue growing our philanthropic efforts in the semesters ahead and continue to be a chapter built on the foundations of leadership and service.

A CHAPTER OF CHAMPIONS

PI KAPP COLLEGE FOR CHAPTER OFFICERS

The past few years in the Alpha Iota Chapter have been all about brotherhood. During the 2025-26 academic year, the brothers of Pi Kapp participated not only in brotherhood events such as basketball at the house, but also in intramural athletics.

In January of 2026, the Executive Council traveled to Dallas, Texas, for Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers. There, these men built the foundation for the upcoming academic year through workshops and meaningful conversations. In addition, the Alpha Iota chapter took home the following awards.

The 7v7 flag football and soccer teams were both crowned champions at the end of their respective seasons, and many other teams had successful seasons as well. Brothers also participated in our annual golf scramble in April and a paintball day. These events were an amazing way to get all of the brothers involved in a random, yet fun environment.

BUILDING BROTHERHOOD The 2025-26 academic year brought opportunities for multiple social events for the brothers of Pi Kapp. Each event was an opportunity for brothers to enjoy one another’s company and the broader Auburn community. During the fall of 2025, we welcomed artists such as DaBaby, Penelope Road, The Gringos, The Bends and DJ Misdemeanor. Furthermore, we had plenty of opportunities for date parties and socials, with themes such as Jungle, Masquerade and Christmas. During homecoming week, we won the float competition along with Gamma Phi Beta in the annual Auburn parade. During the spring of 2026, we had artists such as West 22nd, Sidecar, Docs Dirty Laundry and Cody Ko. Brothers also participated in social events around

campus, such as the Kappa Delta 5k and Alpha Gamma Delta Hoops for Hope tournament. In January 2026, we had the pleasure of returning to New Orleans for our annual formal on Bourbon Street. Each year, this event is a great time for our brothers to enjoy one another’s company in an amazing city such as New Orleans. This fall, we will be traveling down to Panama City Beach for an end-of-summer semi-formal. The upcoming academic year will be an amazing time for the brothers of Pi Kapp as we enjoy more social events and a strong sense of brotherhood.

LEADING ACROSS CAMPUS

C

ampus involvement continues to be a focal point of the Pi Kappa Phi brotherhood. In the past year, numerous brothers have participated in an on-campus organization.

Junior John Heyburn currently serves as the Harbert College of Business Executive Society president. Sophomore Connor Jones serves as a College of Nursing senator for SGA. Seven of our brothers, Charlie Thiede, John Heyburn, Drew Ulsh, Jeffrey Sturges, Zach Wistner, Brad Thiede and Tommy Witt are representing the chapter in Auburn’s Financial Management Association (FMA). The Alpha Iota Chapter has also been involved in Auburn’s Interfraternity Council for the past several years. Joey also received the first Sue Walker Outstanding Membership Scholarship from the IFC in the spring of 2026. Freshman Seamus Coyne currently serves as IFC delegate for Pi Kappa Phi. Last summer, brothers Connor Jones and Stone Wheeler served as Camp War Eagle counselors, and this summer, freshman Edward Davis will do the same.

NIC CHAPTER AWARD OF DISTINCTION The Alpha Iota Chapter was named a recipient of the North American Interfraternity Conference’s (NIC) Chapter Award of Distinction, one of the highest honors presented to collegiate fraternity chapters. Awarded to only five chapters across North America, the recognition celebrates organizations that exemplify excellence in chapter operations, member development, campus involvement and values-based leadership. The Alpha Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi represents a comprehensive model of chapter success.

This recognition places Alpha Iota among the premier fraternity chapters in North America and reflects the chapter’s dedication to living the values of Pi Kappa Phi.
