Continuing Our Mission to Advocate

C. Blake Perry, MD PCMS President

Thank you for being a member of Pierce County Medical Society. We have been in existence since 1888. We hope you will join our membership event on December 6th where we will celebrate 135 years of the Pierce County Medical Society (PCMS). We will be at the Museum of Glass and look forward to meeting you.

Pierce County Medical Society’s mission is to represent and advocate for Pierce County physicians and physician assistants and to ensure that you can thrive professionally while providing the best care for your patients. Looking ahead, the PCMS board of directors is focusing on advocacy issues related to prior authorization, non-compete clauses and increasing Medicaid reimbursement rates to Medicare levels. You can learn more about these advocacy issues by reviewing this link: 2023 Issue Brief

Additionally, later this summer, PCMS will host “meet and greets” with district representatives. If you would like to hear from your district representative and their priorities for 2024, let us know. Meet and greet details are still in the works. Staff are considering a casual coffee meet up or inviting a representative to your practice for a tour and discussion on issues and concerns facing your practice.

Legislators want to hear from their constituents and the interim is the best time to meet and talk about issues concerning health care. During the legislative session, you may get 10-15 minutes to talk to district representatives. During the interim, schedules allow for longer meetings and legislators have more availability to meet with you; in-district.

Thank you and see you in December!
