he fiscal year ended with an increase in net assets of $2.5 million. Revenue over the same period, aided by an increase in enrollment, grew $2.8 million. The balance sheets reflect increasing expenses in health insurance ($1.3 million) and salaries ($0.5 million).

The School of Education’s graduate off-campus cohorts have grown more than 50 percent since 2016. The school operates the largest graduate program for teacher education in the state of Georgia and is the state’s second-highest producer of teachers.

or the eighth consecutive year enrollment at American colleges and universities have declined.

This enrollment dip has had an acute impact on small colleges. While many of these schools are enduring financial hardships, Piedmont continues to thrive, particularly among traditional undergraduate students. The freshman class this fall was the institution’s largest ever.

The college continues to keep tuition affordable. Since 2016, undergraduate tution costs on both campuses have increased around 13.5 percent while financial aid packages have grown 20 percent.

The ethninticy of our student body continues to reflect the racial mix of the areas where many of our students are from, northern and central Georgia. We anticipate our Hispanic student population (now 5.2 percent) will continue to grow in keeping with Georgia’s demographic changes.

otal giving and alumni giving increased significantly during the 2018 and 2019 fiscal years. Much of that increase can be attributed to fundraising efforts associated with the Conservatory of Music.

The $10.1 million project was completed this fall.

An upcoming capital improvement project is the renovation of Nielsen Hall, which will become the new home of the School of Education.

In the coming years, the college will be placing a renewed emphasis on donor participation.

This fall, Piedmont debuted Lions Share, a rebrand of the annual fund. Piedmont’s most ardent supporters, those who make an annual gift of $1,000 or more, will become members of the newly formed Yonahian Society.
