Dear Friends,

We are proud to share Piedmont Education Foundation’s annual report with you. In these pages, you will see a record of the generosity of this community, and evidence of all we have accomplished together.

This has been a big year for PEF. Because of you, our Giving Campaign raised a record $2.8 million. In addition to our other fundraisers, including Spring Fling, Harvest Festival and Scrip, and due to the generosity of Dress Best for Less and our other corporate sponsors, we will be able to make a substantial contribution to our schools and our students. We continue to partner closely with PUSD to ensure that your wonderful contributions are used to maintain the exceptional educational experience that we want for our kids.

As PEF evolves, the Board of Directors continues to reflect on our role and purpose. While fundraising is foremost, we continue to grow as an advocate for our school community. This year we created, published and distributed the Student Directory, kept the Piedmont Portal full of news and events, and helped out all of Piedmont’s Parent Clubs and Support Groups by administering the Piedmont Store, disseminating communications, and providing general assistance.

Our reflection of the work we do led us into a deep dive on the organization’s mission, vision, and values. You can see the outcome below.

Our mission is to provide sustained financial support to Piedmont schools through fundraising and community engagement.

PEF raises money each year through the Giving Campaign, Spring Fling, Scrip, corporate donors such as Dress Best for Less and Student Directory sponsors, and several additional campaigns. We provide these funds, net of expenses, to PUSD through a grants process. The Grants Committee is comprised of PUSD administrators, PUSD and PEF board members, and representatives from Piedmont’s Parent Clubs and Support Groups. The committee meets quarterly to determine grant funding allocations for the next year.

For the 2017-18 school year, PEF granted PUSD $2,395,940 and Parents Clubs and Support Groups granted an additional $425,960 through this process.
