‘Rescuelympics’

Resilience Month in the province of Guimaras this year.

Office (PDRRMO) in partnership with different national government agencies, the “Rescuelympics was conducted on July 28 at the Provincial Covered Gym in San Miguel, Jordan → page 6 with the province’s five municipalities participating.

As champion, the municipality of Jordan took home a cash prize worth Php 15,000.00. The team also won the two special awards namely, Best in Situation Analysis and Best in LowLying Technique with a cash prize of Php 5,000.00 each.

The Municipality of Buenavista represented by Barangay Salvacion was declared second and received Php 10,000.00 as well as the Best in CPR Special Award with a cash prize of Php 5,000.00.

Barangay Constancia represented San Lorenzo town garnered the third place and brought home Php 7,500.00.

On the other hand, the municipalities of Nueva Valencia, represented by Barangay La Paz, and Sibunag, represented by Barangay Bubog, received consolation prizes with a cash reward of Php 3,000.00 respectively.

Participants competed in three events: CPR, Situational Analysis Application, and Loy-Lying Techniques. They were also evaluated based on the speed, approach, proper use/handling of equipment and execution of proper technique.

Mr. Lino Galea, Executive Assistant III, who represented Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, underscored the importance of preparedness in mitigating the impact of any hazard on his message, according to the Public Information and Relations Unit of Guimaras.

Reduction and Management Officer Teresita Siason, extended her gratitude to the fivemunicipalities and the different national agencies that are instrumental in the success of this year’s rescuelympics.

National Disaster Resilience Month is observed every month of July and the theme for this year’s observance is: “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino well-being towards Disaster Resilience”. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/ GuimarasPIO)
