MARIADA Mourns the Loss of former PIADA President Tim Swift

Tim E . Swift, 61, of North East, Pa ., passed away unexpectedly, November 18, 2021, at St . Vincents Hospital . He was born on December 27, 1959, in Erie, Pa ., a son of Merle and Sharon Swift of North East .

Mr . Swift graduated from North East High School in 1977 . He attended Northwood Institute for a two-year degree in the automotive industry .

He enjoyed collecting and trading cars for most of his life . He started his sales career at Mackay Swift Dodge in North East and went into the auto auction business for many years . He was past president of the Pennsylvania IADA, and a National Past President of NIADA . He was a member of Park United Methodist Church in North East .

In addition to his parents, Tim is survived by his brother, Tad Swift of Erie, his Uncle, Wayne Swift of Florida, his Aunt, Lynda Semelka of North East, and several cousins, nieces and nephews . He is also survived by his former wife, Paula Swift .

Friends were received at the W . Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S . Lake St .,

North East Nov . 22, 2021, and funeral services were held there Nov . 23 . Pastor Eric Leonard officiated . Private interment was in North East Cemetery .

Several Pennsylvania IADA board members expressed their thoughts on Mr . Swift’s passing, including former PIADA President John DeFilippo .

“Tim was a great guy,” DeFilippo said . “I had the opportunity to serve on the board of directors with him early in my formative years on the board . He was dedicated to improving our industry . His presence will be missed . ” 3
