Adult Dance

Join a vibrant adult dance class and experience the joy of movement while having fun. Dancing improves flexibility and helps keep you agile and active in daily life. Both beginner and advanced dancers are welcome to learn a mix of ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical styles of dance.

Adult Tap Class

Here’s a fun and rhythmic adult dance class that will benefit both body and mind. Learn tap terminology and technique along with combinations and choreography to incorporate the skills learned. On-line registration not available - punch card issued.

Mah Jongg Instruction

Learn a centuries old game of skill, strategy and luck. Class 1: get an overview of the game, tiles, use of the card and practice putting a hand together. Play a game. Class 2: play a second game and learn strategy for winning, how to play defensively and what not to do when playing the game. Register by 7/11.

Mah Jongg

Enjoy this tile based game where the goal is to be the first to match 14 tiles and declare “Mah Jongg”.

Ayurveda

Natural Alternative to Western Medicine

An introductory session to Ayurveda, the oldest “w”holistic health system in the world. It’s a seated experience where you’ll learn about your constitution and how to treat yourself so you stay healthy. Register by Thursday, August 7.

Yin Yoga

Gain flexibility and mental clarity in this 4-week course that will teach you the basics of Yin Yoga (the more quiet yoga style). Most postures are practiced on the floor and will hold for some time. If you are looking to work on flexibility and calming your active mind, this style is for you. Bring a yoga mat and two blankets to class with you.

Beginner Tai Chi

Reap the benefits of this slow and mindful meditative exercise program. Join this beginner class to learn a sequence of movements designed to maintain flexibility, balance and mobility using ancient Chinese tradition for personal betterment - both mental and physical.

Art from the Heart

Join us for a summer-long craft project for adults which will include painting rocks and creating the kindness rock garden to house them. Pre-registration is required to assure adequate supplies on hand. On-line registration not available.

Wholistic Wellness Lifestyle

Duplicate Bridge

Bring a partner and join us for this tournament form of contract bridge in which identical deals are played in order to compare individual scores. Two chances each week to join us for some afternoon fun! (Cancelled 6/11, 6/18 & 8/1)

Bingo & Lunch

It’s simple, it’s easy and all it requires is some luck! Bring your rabbit’s foot and come join us for an afternoon of Bingo excitement. Come early and share lunch with your friends.

Join us for one of America’s oldest card games. Join our loyal group and engage in this trick-taking card game. Do your best to form combinations of cards into melds and make new friends.

Rummikub

Paint Like Bob Ross-In One Day

Learn the Bob Ross® painting technique by a Certified Ross Instructor. All Bob Ross® tools and materials will be provided to lead you step-by-step to create "happy little trees and landscapes!" All levels welcome. (Under 13 with parental participation. See flier for class cancellation policy.)

Private Voice Lessons

Learn how to sing from a professional performer and opera singer. All styles welcome. For younger children, the lesson can also include ear training, reading, writing music and singing songs. Students sign up for four 30 minute lessons that will be scheduled directly with the instructor after registration. (No lessons available in July.)

Mexican Train Dominoes

Use your train or another player’s train (when marked) to get rid of your domino tiles. First player to lay down their tiles wins. Jump on the train and have fun!

Starting Dance

Give your preschooler a valuable early exposure to the arts. Bring them in for some quality Mom and toddler time learning about music and movement through dance and games.

Dance I

Dance up to the next level of talent! Dancers will move past foundational learning and into more advanced technique and choreography. This combo class will strengthen foundational ballet and will improve jazz and tap movements. Students will be introduced to improvisation and advanced expression in dance.

Program Registration

Participants are required to complete an activity waiver. Waivers for participants under 18 must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Registration is accepted over the phone using a credit card, in person, or on-line at www.phparksandrec.org Payment options include VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Cash or Check made out to PHCSA. Payment plans are only accepted for Summer Camp Adventure.

Program Cancellation

Most programs require a minimum number of enrolled participants. Programs that do not reach their minimum will be cancelled, however, when PHPR must cancel a program for this reason, a full refund is provided.

Waiting Lists

A waiting list will be formed and maintained after the program has reached its maximum capacity. As spots in the program become available, people on the list will be contacted in order and offered the opportunity to register for the program.

Withdrawal/Refund Policy

Class Refund/Withdrawal: All Class refund or withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the Assistant Director at least two weeks prior to the start of the class. Missed classes and scheduling conflicts do not qualify for refunds or make-ups. No refunds will be processed after the class has begun, except for a medical exemption which requires a medical form signed by a doctor stating that the participant is unable to participate for the remainder of the program. All refund or withdrawal requests that meet this requirement will result in an Account Credit to the payor which can be applied toward any future PHPR program, activity or camp. All withdrawal/refunds will be assessed an administrative fee of $20.

Camp Refunds: Refunds are not available for cancellations made by customers after March 31. All refunds will incur an administration fee for each canceled camp. After March 31, all payments are non-refundable. A documented medical or family emergency may be the only exception. Medical emergencies are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be submitted to the assistant director. Camp Transfer: Some camps are eligible for transfer; all requests must be made at least two weeks before the camp start date. Transfers are subject to availability, and an administration fee will be applied.

Weather Policy

If inclement weather is forecasted, outdoor activities may be cancelled for the safety of participants and instructors. Staff will make every effort to contact enrollees and either prorate the program with the amount placed back on the enrollee’s Parks & Rec account or provide a make-up. Call 727.771.6000 to check on the status of the activity.

Recreation Inclusion

Under the guidelines of the American with Disability Act (ADA) it is the intent of PHPR to include people of all abilities in our recreation programs and activities. PHPR will make reasonable modifications for individuals with a disability so that such individuals may participate in programs and activities. If you feel you need a particular modification, please call the Centre at least 1 week prior to the start of the program. PHPR is unable to make modifications that:

• Fundamentally alter the nature of the program, service or activity.

• Would constitute a direct threat to the health and safety of the participants.

• Would cause undue burden on PHPR.

All requests for modifications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Participants should be able to perform the following essential functions.

• Follow basic instructions associated with the program or activity.

• Function in a group structure and participate in group activities.

• Use restroom facilities independently or with the assistance of a caregiver to be retained or provided by the participant.
