Annual Fund A YEAR OF GRATITUDE Thank you for your partnership! Our community went above and beyond for our students, teachers, and School, raising $1,023,184 for the 2020-2021 PCDS Annual Fund—the most Annual Fund dollars raised in PCDS history! Like all independent schools around the country, as a non-profit organization we rely on charitable donations to help us meet the true need—especially as we spent nearly $1,000,000 on measures to keep our School open and our community safe. The PCDS Annual Fund helps provide the critical revenue support needed to meet this moment.

Alumni Scholarship Fund The Alumni IMPACT initiative encourages all alumni to engage (by attending events and submitting Class Notes), connect (through our networking platform), and give back (by contributing to the Alumni Scholarship Fund). In 2020-20201, PCDS graduates contributed $138,067 to the Alumni Scholarship Fund and to its subsidiary—the PCDS Alumni COVID-19 Assistance Fund—to meet the immediate financial needs of PCDS students and their families with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. HOW IT WORKS There are two Arizona Private School Tax Credit Programs that help fund PCDS financial scholarships. Individual Program: • Redirect a portion of personal Arizona tax liability to a Student Tuition Organization (AISSF) in support of the PCDS financial aid program. • Participants, in turn, receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against their Arizona income taxes. • There is a maximum amount for 2021: $2,435 (married filer) and $1,219 (single filer). Corporate Program: • Any Arizona C or S corporation, or LLC can redirect their corporate tax obligation to a private school of their choice (PCDS) to help fund need-based scholarships. • Corporations, in turn, receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against their AZ income taxes. • There is no maximum contribution amount—just a minimum of $5,000 per company.

Talley Society The Honorable Mae Sue Talley Society recognizes donors throughout School history whose cumulative giving to PCDS equals $25,000 and above, directed to any area of the School. Mae Sue Talley was the visionary leader who spearheaded the creation of PCDS as the Valley’s premiere independent school in 1961. A prominent Phoenix philanthropist and Arizona leader who passed away in 2017, Mrs. Talley, along with her husband Franz, served among the school’s original founders. ENDOWMENTS IN ACTION: Victor Feeney Memorial Endowment The Victor Feeney Memorial Award was established in memory of Victor Feeney, class of ’67. This award is given each year to an outstanding graduating senior who “excels in both the classroom and athletics and possesses a uniquely affable demeanor.” The 2020-2021 recipient was Benjamin Marsden, class of 2021. During Benjamin’s six years at PCDS, he loved everything STEM and was a multi-sport athlete in soccer, golf, and swimming. Outside of school, Benjamin was involved in Kidz-4-Causes. Last summer, he helped plan an event to raise funds for COVID supplies to be sent to the Navajo Nation. Benjamin now attends UC San Diego, studying Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Renewable Energy. He states, “this is where the future of energy lies, and what excites me is how much there is still to learn about and develop. It’s a relatively new field of science, but it is going to be such an important issue and will take scientists and engineers from all different disciplines to tackle it. I am excited by the idea that maybe I will be a small part of that solution.” “ Thank you for the continued support of PCDS seniors through this honor, the Victory Feeney Memorial Award. PLANNED GIVING By making a planned gift, donors can leave a legacy, whether through a tax-advantaged life income gift or through a bequest.
IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER Individuals who are 70.5 and older are able to make a tax-free gift (up to $100,000) from their individual retirement account (IRA) directly to PCDS without subject to income taxes on the distribution.
