DEIRDRE COUGHLIN
OWNER/DESIGNER
Deirdre Coughlin is a textile designer who has loved design from a young age. Being one of six children, her childhood encouraged creativity, curiosity, and exploration. She was deeply influenced by her mother, “Bunny,” who had a strong appreciation for preserving the past and a distinctive sense of design. Deirdre ultimately studied textile design at Syracuse University.
She began her career at a hand-painted and batik textile studio in San Francisco before moving to New York City, where she worked across multiple facets of the textile design industry. In 1995, when her first child, Phoebe, was born, Deirdre founded her antique document business, Phoebe’s Closet Ltd. Her lifelong love of textiles and collecting naturally shaped this path and allowed her the flexibility to raise her children while building her business.
After relocating to Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Deirdre returned to designing original patterns. Inspired by the beauty of her surroundings and guided by a deep connection to her past, she weaves memory, history, and storytelling into her work—elements that quietly inform many of her designs.
Deirdre lives with her husband and their two dogs, and is a very proud parent of three grown children. In her free time, she enjoys antique shopping, tennis, biking, skiing, museums, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

SUNDAY MORNING

Sunday morning has always been a time to pause and breathe. Growing up, it meant reading the paper, lingering over a good breakfast, and easing into whatever the day held. While times have changed, I hope these simple, timeless patterns, inspired by antique block prints, capture that same sense of calm and unhurried ease.

CABIN FEVER

A fall weekend away at a cabin with friends and a few dogs feels like stepping back in time. No cell phones, no electricity-just time to unplug and relax. Just board games, warm meals and sleeping under a pile of blankets in a cold cabin. Lots of chatting, reading, icy swims, hikes and the rare joy of doing absolutely nothing. These designs started with objects found in nature, showing admiration and respect to our beautiful earth.

FORTY-LOVE

The Forty-Love Collection is my homage to the sport that helped shape me. For me, tennis began on community courts in my hometown, playing alongside my siblings, and being taught by our Dad. Each design re ects the spirit of tennis—some designs are simple and classic, others more intricate and dynamic, just liken the game itself.
To me, tennis is a lifelong sport that teaches you so much, both on and o the court.
