Southern Basketball Legend Honored By Rory G. McGlasson In a special ceremony, a former South Philadelphia basketball star had his famed jersey retired Sunday. The Harlem Globetrotters, who were in town last week, retired the jersey of former Southern HS star, 90-year-old Louis “Red” Klotz – who was also the iconic mastermind behind the Washington Generals. Klotz, a Philadelphia basketball legend, had his number-three jersey raised to the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center next to the likes of former Harlem Globetrotter Wilt Chamberlain and other Sixers and Flyers legends on Sunday afternoon.
