A contractor’s error caused wrong trees, planted in August, to be removed in November – just in time to plant correct species in their place. Saving Daylight Through Artwork The clocks might have fallen back this week, but a local artist is currently “saving daylight” through his paintings. South Philadelphia native, Anthony Casasanto, unveiled his latest works of art, “Saving Daylight” at the Manayunk-Roxborough Arts Center this week. Cassasanto has traveled to places of natural beauty, including Costa Rica, Bermuda, Key West, the Italian countryside, and the coast lines of Massachusetts and Maine, all of which inspire his paintings. That’s if city businesses and patrons can raise enough money to do so. Mayor Michael Nutter and Police Commissioner Ramsey joined City and State officials to launch a campaign to bring back the Philadelphia Police Dept.’s Mounted Unit with the support of the Philadelphia Police Foundation.
