Mural Art Inspires Students A mural will be unveiled at Taggart Elementary School tomorrow that reflects the school’s diverse student body. Tomorrow morning students will unveil their mural titled, “Inspiration”. The mural reflects the 20 different ethnicities, the 10 different languages spoken at the school and depicts the culture and different lives of the diverse student body at Taggart. Teachers and students at the School, which is located at 4th &Porter Streets, teamed up with the Mural Arts Program of Philadelphia and Community College to partake in a nine-month project to be unveiled at the school at 11 a.m. The project was the final session in collaboration with the City Mural Arts’ “Big Picture” initiative, which provides young people ages 10 to 14 with mural training and visual-arts education. FDR Park Revamp Continues
Council Pres. Verna Promises More Upgrades
Philadelphia City Council President Anna C. Verna joined Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Michael DiBerardinis to dedicate new restroom facilities in FDR Park this week. President Verna’s office provided $447,000 in funding for this project. Construction began in November 2009 and was completed Sep. 30 of this year.
