Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery, is pulling in a lot of chits, way ahead of the others. It’s the classic case of the early bird catching the worm. Last week attorney Dan McCaffery pulled off a big prize, especially important this early in what is yet to become a full-blown campaign. He’s gotten the endorsement of the city’s largest union, the 13,000-member Metropolitan Regional Carpenters and Joiners led by Ed Coryell. 500 Kids To Receive Free Back-To-School Supplies Over 500 low-income students will go home with a bag full of school supplies today as they prepare to go back to school. The Philadelphia Housing Authority and the Apartment Association of Greater Philadelphia are teaming up to send 500 low-income kids back to school with brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies. The kids will be lining up at PHA’s Wilson Park Community Center, 2500 Jackson St., today at 1 p.m. on for the backpack give-a-way that will send them back to school with every-
thing they need for a successful start this fall. Single-parent Angela Peterkin, a Housing Choice Voucher recipient, is thrilled her kids will be going back to school with a supply-filled backpack. “It can be difficult with the cost of clothes and back to school shots to afford school supplies,” she says. “It’s great to have this gift.” Education is a priority for both PHA and the AAGP. “We are constantly emphasizing education among our employees and (Cont.
