BURNT EDGE. When a tree is struck by lightning, the bark is charred to a matte black. HONEY DRUM PEOPLE Made from honey drums, this wall piece tells the sweet story of the people who collect honey in Northern Thailand and an interpretation of the clothing they wear. The drums can only be used a handful of times before they oxidize. In repurposing the metal, they are able to bring in an additional source of income beyond the bees they rely on to produce the honey. Timboel is an award-winning artist and sculptor from the village of Kasongan in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He is best-known for his large-scale masterpieces like his Pipe Sculptures featuring Bulls and Mustangs. The sculptures are made from reclaimed cut pipe that are individual placed and welded together to create astonishing, complex forms. He works with all forms of metal, including aluminum castings of dresses, humans and animals. Each piece is hand-sculpted from sheets of metal and clay, and after a thorough polish, the sculptures come to life.
