Miss Root grew up in B rooklyn, New York. After graduating from Connecticut College she headed West. In 1961 she started Trinity Parish School with Kindergarten and First Grade.

In 1978 Trinity Parish School broke away from the church, moved and became Phillips Brooks School. Miss Root held the position of First Grade Teacher and Assistant Principal for many years. In 1982 she became the Principal. She continued to teach a math class.

Miss Root enjoys being Principal most of the time, but she said it can be stressful. The hardest part of her job was when she thought the school had lost the lease of the PBS campus.

Miss Root thinks it is time to retire. She will miss the children.

She plans to spend more time with friends, working in her garden, reading the newspaper while drinking coffee, traveling, volunteering in her community and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of Castilleja School.

Miss Root is respected for her wise leadership by educators across the country, by present and past parents, students and faculty.

Thank you Miss Root for all you have given to so many people!

M ark Carey Mr. Carey completed his undergraduate studies at Antioch College in Ohio. He received his Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities at San Francisco Stale University. He found computers were fun and that kids responded well to them.

He always wanted to teach children, so he combined his interests in computers and helping children learn. He has a tutoring business where he works, when not at Phillips Brooks. Mr. Carey feels that cooperation and respect are the most important skills to learn.

Miss Taft attended The Blake School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When her family moved to California she entered Menlo School. She graduated from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania ready to be an elementary school teacher.

She admired many of her teachers while growing up and always wanted to teach.

Miss Taft has a golden lab named Minkah, which means “Justice” in Swahili.

The present fifth graders were Miss Taft’s first class at PBS. Miss Taft loves books and spends much time reading stories from well known authors to her students. One of her favorite authors is Roald Dahl.

Miss Taft is planning to relax at her family’s summer home in Michigan this summer. She is thinking of entering the business world in some capacity in the fall. Good luck and thank you for your enthusiasm for imparting reading and your creative teaching.

During high school Mr. Carey worked at Taco Bell. Today he enjoys his cabin in Oregon when he is not at his home in Woodside. He loves cars, cooking and eating, gardening and his dog, Addie, an Australian cattle herding dog.

Thank you for helping not only the children, but the teachers to be more comfortable with computers!

You have been a wonderful resource for teachers understanding children with special needs.

Beverly Docter Mrs. Docter began teaching 35 years ago in Louisville, Kentucky. She began teaching third grade at PBS in 1979.

From 1983-88 she was the sixth grade homeroom teacher. For almost a decade Mrs. Docter and Mme Miller have taught sixth grade together.

Mme Miller and Mrs. Docter were bom in the same hospital in New Jersey. Mrs. Docter arrived a few years prior to Mme. Mrs. Docter graduated from Goucher College in Maryland. She loves sports and played field hockey and lacrosse in college. She enjoys hiking and tennis.

Mrs. Docter enjoys teaching world history and geography through stories, slides, maps, videos and field trips. She loves to travel and has visited every state and five continents. Teaching about human evolution and the nations of Africa are some of her favorite memories.

Many of her students remember memorizing the Presidents.

Elizabeth Miller When one thinks of Mme Miller so many images come to mind: funny hats, high top tennis shoes, chocolate, wild hair, Paul Newman, the Giants, photography, playing the organ, French plays, chocolate, trips to France, her daughters Stephanie and Rebecca, husband David, her dogs. Windy and Tito and an amazing sense of humor, Mme has so many talents. She will be missed by students and impossible to replace!!

Mme Miller grew up in New Jersey, graduated from Alfred University in New York and studied French in Southern France, She received her masters degree from San Francisco State University, Her first job was developing a program for teaching French in elementary schools. She began teaching French at PBS in 1980. In 1989 she added sixth grade English classes.

Next fail Mme Miller will be teaching English to sixth and ninth graders at Crystal Springs School. Phillips Brooks will miss her creativity, her humor, her many talents and her wise advice. We wish Madame the very best of luck in her new school and hope she will come hack to visit us often.

Mrs. Docter is retiring to spend time with her family and to travel. She will continue her work as a docent at the Stanford University Art Museum. The PBS community will miss her dedicated teaching and her guidance.

My favorite day in third grade was when we went to ANO NEVO because I thought the sea elephants looked cool.On the way back I found a cool black beetal.We also saw whales.My favorite animal I saw was a sea otter.We saw the sea otters swimming in the water .And I liked the Indian rocks.

Blake Curia My favorite part o f third grade was when we did our endangered species reports. I liked doing the research and making our covers. I thought the covers were fun to make and they turned out really well, too. The covers had an easy part and a hard part to them. The hard part was getting a good picture. Then you draw your animal and color it in with har d crayon. Then you do water color over the crayon. I thought third grade was really fun. I hope we do fun stuff like this in fourth grade.

My favorite part of third grade was making tie-dye T-shirts. The shirts were cool. My mom thought that mine was the coolest. They didn’t take a long time to dry.

That was the awesomest part of third grade.

In my first year at PBS, spelling was one of the hard things for me early in the year. Then the mystery came and it was exciting. UJe then had a Thanksgiuing play, we cooked and we all had fun. Then came the uery interesting spelling bee because a third grader almost won. My best book report was next, Charlie 'and the Chocolate Factory. I hope fourth grade will be as fun as third grade, see you next year.

My favorite thing that 1 have ever done in third grade is the Valentines Day puppet show. I loved the character 1 was which was Wally Woodchuck.I liked the way the puppet looked,I liked the way the character acted iLself.and I think the way I acted was great.It was also a :h to my mom.I think the Valentines Day pet show' was the best puppet show 1 have ever acted in.

My favorite part o f third grade this year was doing our Endangered Species report. I liked the reports because I got to learn a lot about my animal, the orangutan and about other endangered animals. I like the pictures for our reports the most. It was hard work, but it was fun too.

My favorite time in third grade was our field trip to the S.F. Zoo. We went there because we were studying endangered species. I liked seeing the Hippos with their big huge bodies and tiny little feet. I also like to see the giraffes kneel down. The lions and tigers were sleeping, but we could see them through the grass. I really wanted to see the Black Rhino, but they were fixing the cage.

The bears were my favorite. There were 3 Kodiak bears and unfortunately no Grizzlies. I really had a lot of fun.

My San Francisco Zoo Visit by Francis Reynolds

was riding in the front seat of Sheeva s car. W e were playing that game where you find letters on signs. When we got there we met our guides and we first saw the / flamingos. My favorite animal I saw was the kangaroo. I also liked seeing the v endangered animals like the koala, tiger, and the polar and grizzly bear.That was my best third grade memory.

Ano Nuevo At Ano Nuevo the third grade class went to see the elephant seals. It was fun . My dad even came with us! The elephant seals were c o o l. It was so fun to see them . We went at two different times , because there were two groups . We saw a super weaner. The males were very big . Well, I have to go , bye. fa te y

My favorite m em ory of third grade was when we went to Ano Nuevo. I liked seeing all the Elephant Seals and especially the super-weaner. Our guide was good and taught us a lot of neat stuff. One of the fun parts was sliding down the sand dunes. That special field trip was the highlight of third grade for me! ■

Third Grade My favorite thing that we did in third grade was making tgc dyeteashirts on Earth Day! The reason why 1 Weed making tye dye shirts was because the colors were very bright and it was fun dipping the shirt in the dye. My tye dye tea-shirt turned out really cool! 1 really liked ft? I hope we do ft again in fourth grade????????????????

My favorite part of third grade was when we went to Ano Nuevo. W e saw alot of elephant seals.

My favorite one was the super weaner. They are seal pups that steal milk from sleeping mothers. The pups are so cute. I also liked the alfa bull. They are the biggest male elephant seals. The males have funny looking noses. It was so fun there.

My favorite time this year in third grade was when I taught P.E. I got to do that because I won Stan’s Bid Board at Random Harvest in October. It was fun working w:*u Stan. I liked it because I got tc make up an obstacle course and referee a hockey game. I am going to try and win his bid board again next year!

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Peck because o f the field trips and because she is nice. I liked this class because I have a lot o f friends. I also like P.E., science, library, and geography! I hope next year Mr. Sherman’s class will be fun as well!!!!

The thing I liked best in third grade was when we did endangered animal reports We did it so everyone learned about an animal.

We did them in spring. I did the arctic fox. I liked it because I learned a lot about my animal I learned how big it is, how old it gets, where it lives, why its endangered , and lots more. I hope you like them as much as I aid. 1 hope I see an arctic fox soon! ,

My favorite day at school was when we went to the zoo. I loved the animals and learning about different animals. I liked playing in the playground and having lunch. Even though we did not see the cheetah, it was still very exiting.

Beeta Lashkari My favorite day at school was when we went to the zoo. I liked i because I saw endangered animals. I also saw other animals. I also had fun because I played at the playground. I had a lot o f fur when we had lunch. I also had fun with Dylan at the playground.

I played tag with the boys and girls in the playground. I had a lot o f fun at the zoo.

Babak Lashkari The things I liked about school were having cool field trips, math, recess, P.E......... I also favored assemblies, writing, and science.I have liked going on field trips since I began school. My favorite days in school are every day because I just like school.

Mfy favorite time o f third grade was when we made tie-die shirts, sand paper. It was hard picking out the colers for my tie-die shirt. It looked great when Iwas done with it. The paper mix felt cool. The decorations for the paper were nice. I liked decorating the paper, it was fun. That was my favorite part o f 3rd grade.

THE HAUNTED PUMPKIN PATCH Jane and Bob were preparing for Halloween. Every year they threw a big Halloween party because their house was so spooky . All the children suspected that they were goblins or witches because they had no parents and they ate people, but the adults thought this was ridiculous, so they insisted their children go to the parties. All of the children were afraid because their pumpkins came to life.

One night, Asilia, a little girl who was nine years old, went to the pumpkin patch where Jane and Bob went every year. She liked Bob and Jane, and she didn’t think they were scary at all. She asked if Bob and Jane wanted to visit the patch, and they said fine, but only if they were back at their house by one o’clock in the morning.

Wow Asilia was sort of shocked by this but she agreed” OKAY!” Then she told them to meet her at Burgess at eight o’clock.

At eight, they met, and she was excited because this the first time she ever went out alone with her friends and she was happy thdy came with her.

Asilias mom was scared because she was the only parent who believed that Jane and Bob were monsters.

Later, at 10100 at night, Jane and Bob recited a poem that said”WISHCABOB SHUSHCABOB MAKE THE PUMPKINS THE WAY THEY ARE!” All of a sudden, all the pumpkins came to life.

Then they said” YOU STOP RIGHT THERE AND THEN,” and the pumpkins stopped moving. Then Jane and Bob came up to Asilia, and they thought she looked mighty tasty! So they ate her!

Meanwhile, when it was dusk, her mom was becoming worried, and she dashed to the police office as fast as her iegs could carry her. When she arrivec ic the police office, the police officer said, “This happens very rarely around nere because the first time I ever heard a story like this it was about 500 yearr The mother saw only a dim light, and she died right there on the floor!

A couple of years later, the pumpkins were told the poem again.

“WISHCABOB SHUSHCABOB MAKE THE PUMPKINS THE WAY THEY ARE." Now these people who said this were only teenagers, and everyone knows they always forget how to end it!

The pumpkins came to the town, and they almost killed every person but Jane and Bob yelled," WISHCABOB SHUSHCABOB YOU STOP RIGHT THERE AND TH E N -. Then all the pumpkins stopped and for the rest of the time Jane and Bob were everyones heroes.

The Robbery by Nicholas Joy

Kelly had always been a good child. He had good manners and did his chores without complaint. He once said, “My purpose in life is to serve others." He had a lot of friends, but most of his classmates downright despised him. That really hurt him.

Kelly's one good friend was Donell Kambridge. They had been friends since they were nine and now they were twelve and thirteen. One night, three days before Kelly’s thirteenth birthday, Donell called Kelly after school. “Wanna have some fun?" he asked.

“Sure," Kelly replied.

“O.K., meet me at Halie's Radios at eight o’clock tonight," Donell whispered.

At eight o’clock, Kelly arrived on his bike. Donell and Franky Hill walked up to him. “Wanna get rich?" Franky asked.

“Depends on how,” Kelly answered.

“Give you one hundred buckeroonese if you climb in that window and take out the most expensive-looking boom-box that you can and bring it to me," Franky replied.

Kelly gulped and thought of the hundred dollar tennis racket that his father wanted for his birthday. Kelly solemnly nodded and climbed through the open window. Donell and Franky giggled and ran away. Suddenly, an alarm sounded as Kelly climbed out the window with the stereo. A moment later, a police car drove up to the store. Kelly gasped and dropped the stereo. It exploded in a shield of sparks. When the smoke cleared, Kelly was gone, running down the alley. He panted, trying to run as far away from that store as he could. Suddenly, a banana peel appeared in front of him. His eyes bulged as he slipped, rolled, and slammed into a garbage can. He heard a cat yowl and then dash off into the night. He stood up and wiped himself off. Kelly then changed direction and headed toward Grande Cliff Park.

He arrived at the park near morning, and prepared to walk back, take his bike, and ride home. "Well, well, well. Who have we here?" hissed a voice behind him. Kelly turned to see Donell and Franky. Franky was holding a Colt .38.

“Wanna do some skydiving?” asked Franky, "I'll give you a push if you’re too scared. After all that noise you made in the alley, you nearly got us caught." Kelly looked down at the 352 foot drop below. “I said jump," Franky snarled.

“No," screamed Donell, and he leaped in front of Kelly.

The gun's report echoed through the cliffs.

Donell wheezed and fell on the ground. There was a wisp of smoke curling from the gun's muzzle. Franky sneered and recocked the gun. Just then, the wail of sirens filled the air. Kelly was safe.

I started school at PBS in Room 9 at the age of three. Most of my fifth grade classmates now were in that same class with me. I remember my mom walking me to class when I was little, and I remember when Mrs. Dulik sat on that cake. Once I even had to visit Ms. Root and not to get M &M ’s. I remember Miss Taft had a boyfriend named Josh, and w e’d all call to him as he drove by. In second grade, I lost my phonics book and never finished it. (Mrs. Woodbridge, please don’t make me repeat second grade!) I remember being in third grade when my mom was my teacher, and our class hamster would always escape. He always turned up in the trash can. Fourth grade was our class trip to Coloma where it poured rain. Fifth grade was our trip to Yosemite with the sixth grade. W e also had to apply to our new schools this year. It was nerve-wracking! I’m going to miss my buddies here at PBS when we all go on to different schools. I’m going to miss my teachers and the fun stuff we all did together over the last eight years.

The Bear & the Fox David Morgenthaler A bear, a rabbit, and a fox were at a cocktail party and were having a lively conversation.The fox, to trick the bear, told him a lie about something another bear had said about him. This enraged the bear and he stomped out of the party without another word. A few days later, the bear took the other bear whom the fox had told him about by surprise, put him in a full nelson, and broke his neck.

The next day, the bear was taken to court and proven guilty of his crime. He was sentenced to death.The execution was due to take place after two weeks.

The next week, the bear saw the fox again. The fox asked the bear why he looked so glum and the bear told him the whole story. The fox was amazed at what had happened but told the bear nothing. The next week, the bear was executed.

MORAL: No matter how furious, never take the law into your own hands.

Choosing Lindsay Jessica Bryant was walking home from school with her close friend Michelle, when Michelle asked Jessica if she wanted to go over to Michelle’s cousin s house with a bunch of her friends to show Jess “something neat.”

Jessica was curious, so she ran the rest of the way home. When she walked inside, she told her mother that she was going to Michelle’s house to study.

She knew she was lying, but she wasn’t sure what about. Hearing that, her mother uneasily remarked, “Ok, be home by dinner.” As they hitched a ride to Michelle s cousin’s house, Jessica asked questions about what they were going to do but Michelle just kept telling her that it was something neat and that she’d like it.

As they pulled into the driveway. Jessica wasn’t sure about going in But Michelle insisted and dragged her by the hand into the beatennlown old garage. When Michelle’s cousin, Mike, opened the door, Jessica was shocked at the sight in front of her; three people were sitting around a circular table. ‘What is this? ” Jessica shrieked nervously. Mike walked into the room carrying a box of cereal. “Rice Knsp.cs,” it said across the blue box.

He reached his hand m and pulled out a plastic bag that looked like it was filled with powdered sugar. Not until a few minutes later did she realize that it must be cocaine. The next moment she was standing all alone. Ten eyes were watching her, encouraging her, pressuring her into just one sniff “What should I do?” she thought, “I always told myself that I was never going to do drugs. Yet it looks so cool and fun. I’m sure just once won’t hurt me!”

Thirteen-year-old Jessica, standing so tall, felt like an ant inside. The question w as pressing. W ould she kill thousands o f brain cells or lo se her good friends? What could sh e do? Her body w as frozen stiff. She thought they w ould hate her forever, she didn’t know what to do. She thought she w ould remain there frozen and undecided all night, when she finally mustered up the strength to turn around and run out o f the garage, sprinting the entire nine blocks to her house. She told her mother and father the w hole story.

To this day, she has not heard from M ichelle. “She might have died o f an overdose,” Jessica on ce thought sadly.

A Valuable Lesson

“Jessica Hudson,” Sam antha called out.”l give up; where are you?” Approaching Sam antha from behind a log , Jessica saw a shiny silver cobweb catching the sun and wrapping it in so much brilliance that when you looked at it,it would blind you for a moment.She s m iled .

After their gam e,Sam antha wanted some candy so she went to the store.Th? owner was in the back, stocking up on food supplies.No one was looking and a big jar of candy caught her eye.Shyly but quickly, she grabbed the candy and ran home.There.her mom stopped her and asked where she had gone.Samantha replied nervously, "Nowhere.”She ate the candy in her room.Her hunched back faced the door; as she glanced quickly from side to side.Carefully, she placed the wrappers in her pocket, so no evidence would be left.The next day, Sam antha was walking in the park, and she saw a lady feeding pigeons.lntrested, she tried to steal the woman's purse.lt was right there, and the pressure was gaining on her. She reached out, and the woman looked at her.”Y es, may I help you little girl?”

Sam antha quickly answered, “Do you have the time?”

W hy yes, yes I do.lt is 6:04." , “Thank you.”Sam antha acted as if she was going home but returned to the park.She started stalking the lady very quietly and very slyly she slipped a twenty from the lady’s wallet.Sam antha saw loads of money in the wallet and became more intrested.Then she ran home, putting her loaded purse in her drawer.

Her mother was beginning to suspect her daughter, so she asked Samantha, where she had been going lately.Samantha responded,“To Jessica’s house.’ H er mom knew she was lying because her mother had called the Hudson’s, and Mrs. Hudson had answered the phone and said Sam antha, hadn’t been there all day.

So the next day, she followed Samantha, and she saw her walk to the store and buy a sandwich, potato chips, and a drink-Samantha paid with the money in the purse.Sam antha’s mother caught her.H er mother asked her when they left of the store. “W here did you earn all of that money?"

Sam antha knew she was in a mess, and she started to confess.

By Emily Grauel Claudia and her annoying sister were saying goodbye to their straightbacked parents as they drove aw ay for the weekend. N o w all Claudia could do w as play w ith Christina so she w ould stop bugging her. After dinner C laudia w as w atching a scary m ovie w hen she heard the floor boards creaking behind her. She was chilled w hen she felt icy, cold hands on her neck and sa w a bit o f gray frizzy hair out o f the com er o f her eye. W hen she turned around, no one w as there. She ran to Christina’s bed, but she was sound asleep and not faking it. Claudia w ent back to watching her m ovie.

N o t too lon g after she returned to the T .V . she heard a scream from Christina’s room . She jum ped o f f the couch and ran to see what was happening. T h ey w en t dow n stairs and Claudia put on “M y Little Pony” for Christina. S oon afterwards they heard footsteps on the stairs. Then a door opened and suddenly shut. After a few minutes Claudia realized som ething, “Christina, there are no doors that close to the stairs. Oh my gosh!”

C laudia stopped the m ovie and they ran over to the stairs, “L ook for any lo o se boards or any light com ing through cracks,” exclaim ed Claudia.

Then Claudia dropped her glasses and when she w as looking for them , she a found a lo o se board with light behind it. She pulled it up and saw the little, old man w ith frizzy hair that looked like a g h o st He turned around, and shut the secret passage. T hey both ran to Claudia’s room and acted like they w ere asleep. W hen the man cam e out he didn’t see anything.

T he next day, Claudia invited her best friend, Alexandra, over to play and Christina w ent to her friend’s house. A s soon as Christina left, Claudia told A lexandra about the passage “ L et’s g o see it,” pleaded Alexandra.

“O h fin e,” agreed Claudia.

T h ey w alked to the staircase. Claudia opened the secret door, and there w as no on e to be found. T hey decided to sneak inside and explore.

W hen they w ere exam ining the room, they found tons o f rusty old p ieces o f metal and gold.

In one o f the far back com ers where the ceiling w as low , they saw a little door. T hey went over and opened it. Inside was a blood red tube. Suddenly, the door slam m ed shut and they started spinning. When they opened the door, they w ere not in Claudia’s house anymore. They w ere in a castle.

W hen they returned to w here the door had been, it was gone! In its place there w as a note that said: Y ou m ust find the door if you w ant to leave. F ollow all the clues and they w ill lead you out. The first clue is to find a room w ith a crying baby, and underneath the baby w ill be som ething to help you find your next clue.

T hey w alked up and dow n the halls until they heard a crying baby. Claudia and Alexandra sneaked into the room and picked up the fussy baby.

Underneath the baby w as a golden key. T hey picked it up, put the baby back dow n, and suddenly, the baby stopped crying.

The queen o f the castle raced up w hen she heard nothing but silence dow n stairs. She asked Alexandra and Claudia what they had done that m ade the baby stop crying.

Claudia exclaim ed, “W e took out this key from beneath her.”

The queen shouted, “Thank you a m illion tim es,” and said that they deserved to have the key.

A s the queen w as leaving, Alexandra shouted, “Wait! Can you sh ow us the door in w hich this fits?”

The queen said, “Its in a room on the top floor o f the castle.”

T hey both ran to the top floor. It w as alm ost night, so it w as alm ost com pletely black. They found a door where the key fit. T hey opened the door and w ent in a tube, and w hen they stepped out again it w as Claudia’s house alright but about a hundred years a g o .. .T hey w alked into the house feelin g very bewildered, h ow ever they began im m ediately preparing them selves for another adventure.

Once upon a time a raccoon and a bear lived in the forest. The raccoon was very tricky and stole the fish away from the bear. The bear grew very angry at the raccoon and decided to set a trap for him. The bear dug a deep hole near his fishing spot and covered it with leaves and branches. He went to his fishing hole and caught some fish and placed them carefully on top of the trap. Soon the raccoon came along a saw the fish. He was very hungry and went straight over to the fish and, suddenly, he fell into the hole.

The moral of the story is what goes around comes around.

A Letter's Worth a Single Death

One day in San Francisco, there were many disappointed children. All of this disappointment was caused because tomorrow was the first day of school. Many children had enjoyed their summer very much and didn’t want it to end. They had only one night left until school started.

One boy, named John Wilson, was happy though. John had actually been waiting all summer for this time of year. He didn’t want to return to school, of-eourse, but he wanted to watch football. His mother and his father were away a lot, but they were loving parents anyway. John had such a love for football, that he was longing to go to a game.

He had watched the games on TV. and he felt very lucky to sec them on TV, so he didn’t tell his parents. Because his parents knew he had a love for football, they bought him a Tshirt o f his favorite team, the Rhode Island Wolves.

He liked the Wolves because they always stood out to him as an unusual team.

They never did anything unusual, but they always seemed different to him anyway. John’s favorite player on the Wolves was their quarterback, Lawrence Blume. He couldn’t wait until next weekend to watch the Wolves season opener against the the Texas Knights. Last year, the Knights won it all, and the Wolves didn’t do anything, finishing in last place in the whole league. Still, John couldn’t wait for next weekend to come, but he also had to wait through a long week of school before the weekend.

John had nothing to do in his last fifteen hours of summer. Just then he decided to write a letter to his favorite player. Lawrence Blumc. His first one was not a good one because he rarely wrote letters. As a result, he decided to write a whole new letter, adding a few humorous jokes to i t If one didn’t know belter, one probably would have thought he had written dozens of letters. John found Blurnc’s address and sent the letter.

The school week went by very slowly, and none of his friends were in his class.

He had a very stern teacher. Mr. Moore He had been doing well in school, but he haled going to school. He was so happy on Thursday because he had one day of school left before the game He had lots of free time after his homework was done, so he decided to look at the mail. Just then the phone rang. John answered it A chilling voice echoed, “ DEATH will come your way.” John convinced himsdf it was just someone fooling around, but he worried that it might be more, especially since the person had such a deadly voice. He then decided to go to bed and try to forget about the call.

He woke up, looked at his alarm clock, and realized it was about 5:30 PM. He had finished his homework so he decided to continue looking at the mail. He saw a few things for his parents but nothing for him. His parents should be home in an hour, but for now.

his house cleaner was the only other person at home. He decided to write another letter to Lawrence Blume. He was just about to start writing when he realized that when he fell asleep it was 7 PM on the kitchen clock. He ran up to his room and saw that now the clock read 7:30 PM as if to say” Fooled you” or “Never happened”. John decided to continue his letter downstaiis. He walked downstairs to retrieve his stationary and was about to start when, as if by magic, the paper caught fire. He didn’t know what to do, so he tried smashing it, which made the fire ignite the table. He was really scared so he decided to get some water in the bathroom John ran to the kitchen and poured a glass of water to splash on the fire, but when he returned he found that there was no evidence of if Nothing had burned. He did find the paper he was going to use for the letter sitting next to a small pile of ashes. The word “DEATH" was burned into his paper, along with the words, “will come your way” written below. He remembered the telephone call he had received earlier that day.

“Ohhhh!" He shuddered. John decided to watch TV before he went to bed at around 9:30.

Today, Sunday^vas the day of the year he had been waiting for. There were thirty seconds before kickoff. John found out that the Wolves would be receiving. They returned the ball to the thirty yard-line. They snapped the ball to Lawrence Blume, and he stood dead still. The Knights’ linebacker broke through and hit the quarterback. Blume fell down, and his helmet rolled to the ground. His jersey seemed to float to the ground.

Nothing was in it Blume had disappeared completely. In the helmet was John’s letter, with the “DEATH” burned into it, with the words ’’will come your way” written below.

John stood paralyzed by fear.

Surprisingly, nothing happened to John that day. In fact, weeks went by without anything unusual happening to him, and John even started to get excited about football again. What twelve year-old boy wouldn’t be excited about going to the Super Bowl, and John was lucky enough to have the chance to go. It was his dream.

John Wilson died Janurary 29. 1995. He died in Portland, Oregon, where he had planned to see the Wolves play against their long-time rival s^he Albany Cougarsjn the Super Bowl. He was hanging from both of the crossbars with “DEATH has come" written on his naked and limp body.

Firstly, she will become a world renown dancer. After performing all throughout the United States and Europe, she will retire early at age twenty six to pursue a new profession, horseback riding. Brittany will win many awards and medals as a rider.

LINDSAY DILLON will graduate from high school as a well known cheerleader and gossip. After college, she will open her own hair and nail salon. Her time in the beauty world will be short however. She will soon decide to leave that business to become the president of Valley Girl Incorporated. Heading this company will lead her to start the Young Valley Girl Association to encourage girls to become valley-like. Lindsay will become well known in many circles for her contributions to the valley girl community, and she will star on many shows and in many movies.

LINDSEY GAREHIME will be well known for her athletic ability. Upon graduating from high school with many varsity letters, she will be pursued be universities nationwide, hoping to encourage her to attend their schools. Winning the Olympic Gold Medal in softball will shoot her into stardom. However, after reaching this, the ultimate goal in softball, she will decide to pursue a career in soccer. Becoming the most famous woman to win a world’s cup, Lindsey will continue to be an inspiration for all female athletes!

EMILY GRAUEL will graduate from college and m any the son of the maker of beanie babies. She will quickly become involved in the industry and rise to be the president of the company. Known as Mrs. Ty, she will continue to help the company succeed. In her spare time, Emily will design a house made of fish tanks.

NICHOLAS JOY will continue to pursue his interest in dinosaurs. Due to his intense curiosity for them, he will study to become a paleontologist Nicholas will make many revolutionary discoveries. Not only will he expose why the dinosaurs died, but he will also unmask how to bring them back to life.

CHARLIE RURAL will have a life filled with athletics. Hoping to be the next Dennis Rodman, Charlie will become a Lakers’s guard. However, he will not find basketball as satisfying as he had imagined. As a result, he will pursue a career with the Forty Niners. He will play wide receiver for the team. Because Charlie will be so well-loved by his fans, he will retire to become coach of the team.

DANIEL LITTLE will pursue a career in basketball, playing in the NBA. Unfortunately, he will be forced into early retirement because of many injuries. However, he will gain fame from being recognized as the tallest man in the world. Later in his life, Dan will be elected president of the United States.

COURTNEY MEEHAN will become a famous gym nast She will win an Olympic Gold Medal in the year 2000 for her talent. Eventually, she will retire from the sport and m any a movie star. This change will allow her to pursue a new career and become a general practitioner. Being a doctor will eventually bore Courtney, and she will become vice president of Lindsay’s company Valley Girl Incorporated.

DAVID MORGENTHALER will choose to become a lawyer. Unfortunately, he will lose

his job because he will fail asleep during a trial. David will then turn to a career at Taco Bell, and later, Burger King. When the world of fast food no longer satisfies him, David will become the successor to Bill Nye the Science Guy. CAMERON MURFIT will win an Olympic Gold Medal in softball shortly after graduating from college. She will then become a professional basketball player and enjoy great success as one. After she retires from professional sports, she will pursue her interest in art. Her cartoons will be known worldwide because they will be published in many papers. Additionally, she will draw for a show called “The Three Sausage Heads at Their Wurst".

NICK PALEFSKY will quickly find stardom as a professional tennis player. Because his career will be so successful, he will decide to retire at thirty. Too active to sit and do nothing, Nick will become a comedian.

COLIN PECK will begin playing golf professionally. Following in the footsteps of his idol.

Tiger Woods, Colin will soon join the PGA tour. In his first year on the tour, Colin will win the Masters Tournament. Additionally, he will break a record by earning the lowest score during the event.

HILARY POLLACK will have many varied careers. After graduating from college, she will start her own sticker company. She will design many of the stickers that she will sell because she will want to use her talents as a cartoonist. Additionally, she will draw for a show called “The Three Sausage Heads at Their Wurst”. When her interest in her company starts to dwindle, she will become a comedienne. In her spare time, she will be a sculptor.

ROBERT REINHARDT will first become a world famous swimmer. When he tires of spending his days in the water, he will pursue his love for machineiy by working as a mechanic. At age thirty, he will retire because Bill Gates will will all of his money to Robert.

MATT SEILER will first pursue a career in tennis. He will play doubles with Nick Palefsky in the U.S. Open. Matt will quickly become bored with tennis and will take up skiing. During his free time, he will continue his education and eventually become a lawyer. Later in his life, Matt will star in “Married with Children”.

ALEXANDRA SHALVOY will graduate from college and pursue a singing career. She will have many successful years in this field. During this time, she will also breed Harlequin Great Danes. Not only will she be world renowned for her voice, but she will also be known as “The Happy Keeper of Great Danes".

CLAUDIA SKIELLER will begin to pursue a career as a scientist. Her interest in space travel will lead her to become an astronaut She will embark on a number of exciting and innovative journeys before retiring to live quietly with her fifty cats.

ANDREW SOUTER will immediately enter the video game field. Not only will he invent many games, but he will also manufacture them. He will live in Beverly Hills and be known as a video game maniac. He will be referred to throughout the country as “Sonic the Hedgehog”.

ANDREW STIRN will compete in the Olympics as a swimmer and will win gold medals in the breath stroke and backstroke. After this illustrious career, he will start an electronics company named “Radio Image”. Additionally, he will win a Darwin Award in the year 2020.

GAR WATERMAN will have a career in the world of athletics. He will be best known for his contributions to the Sonics. He will spend some time playing center for them.

However, his strength will be seen when he is the point guard. The public will adore him, and he will be named the best point guard to play the game.

TOMMY WHITFIELD will have many careers. First, he will win an Olympic Gold Medal

as a heavyweight lifter. After leaving the Olympic arena, Tommy will pursue a career in baseball. During the off season, he will mend all of his ripped shirts and be a taste tester. Eventually, these trades will bore him, and he will become a video game fighter pilot.

IAN WHYBURN will be well known for his contributions to the sporting world. He will first pursue a career as a guard for the Bulls. However, he will soon leave them and join the Raptors. He will lead them to their first championship. During that game, he will be named MVP. ASHLEY WILL will begin a career as an engineer. However, this field will not satisfy her for very long. She will then decide to help Hilaiy and Cameron with the production of their show, ‘The Three Sausage Heads at Their Wurst". Additionally, she will write a book about a lizard named Fred.

Class History Room 9 & 10: Max Bronfman, Sedric Drake, Tara Scarioni and Jackie Schoof were some of the originals with Mrs. Dulik and Mrs. Young. We learned that you should always wear a smock when you paint and you must always be kind. We participated in the Christmas play as stars and trees. Our absolute favorite game to play at recess was chase the boys and kiss them.

Kindergarten: Travis Allyn, Kaitlin Beaver, and Kelsey Kagle joined our class in kindergarten and filled the space that Ben Harlow and Drew Kitch left behind.

Mrs. Lippert and Mrs. Jory taught us our ABC’s. Katherine fell off Jeffrey Beaver’s shoulders on the way back from chapel. Ouch! Our favorite pastimes were nap time and playing with dinosaurs. There were a number of pretend marriages that took place.

First Grade: Emilv Dawson and Joshua Tully joined us. Robyn Kirkwood left our class that same year. Our teacher, Miss Harrison, became Mrs. Dunk at the end of the year and some of us went to her wedding. We learned not to eat glue. Our favorite game to play was hot lava. Sean told Emily to shut her mouth and since Emily can’t breathe without her mouth open, she turned purple. Tara perfected her favorite hobby that year: kissing.

Second Grade: Mrs.Woodbridge was our teacher. One of our best field trips was a visit to McDonald's where we got to go into the kitchen to see the workers and even into the refrigerator. W e also went to Rosener House and performed the play called "The Yucky Ducky " and kept the elderly people there company.

W e did our first book report in second grade on dinosaurs culminated by the traditional "Dino Day". Mrs. Woodbridge had a lot of stuffed animals. She was 117 years old when we were in her class.

Third Grade: Laurel Shiba joined us and Katie Coates came at the end of the year. Michael Burger left, and so did Katie Coates after two months. Our teacher was Mrs. Peck. W e had our Valentine's Day Puppet Show and Emily threw up in the middle. Sed sent a valentine to Tara saying, ”l like you. PS. I am black.” Pretty subtle. Mallory, Tara, and Alyssa made God's Eyes and tried to sell them for five dollars each. W e learned our multiplication tables, and Katie Fogelsong was always ahead. W e hiked up Windy Hill in sleeting rain, and Kelsey was stuck in one of the trash bags. Afterwards, Sedric left his soggy socks in his messy desk. At recess, our favorite game was Spider, where you try to trap people in a net. W e also had a soccer craze. In the school musical, we were hoboes playing the recorder, but nobody was very good. Mrs. Coberly told us to pretend to play if we didn’t know, so there was virtual silence on stage.

F o u rth G ra d e : Mr. Sherman was a great teacher. The boys earned first place in basketball and the girls honored the last place. We learned addition, subtraction, and multiplication. W e had lots of pets and lots of couches. We played spin-the-bottle at recess, but only Katy would play; the rest of the girls watched. W e studied the missions and visited San Juan Bautista. When we went to Coloma, our classroom was "decorated" by the fifth and sixth grades with a massive spider web and huge murals. Moral: Never leave your classroom unattended.

Fifth G rade: Mrs. Logan was still Miss Davidow back then. W e went on a lot of field trips including Yosemite (where a bear scared Stan), the Exploritorium, and the Lawrence Hall of Science. W e learned mostly about the Revolution and the Civil War. W e made maps of the thirteen colonies and we memorized the present states and their location. The fifth grade was a great year for all of us.

S ixth G ra d e : This was the ever-so-awesome-very-last-sixth-grade ever at Phillips Brooks. Our teachers were Mrs. Berkowitz, Mr. Carey, Mrs. Coberly, Mrs. Docter, Mrs. Little, Madame Miller, Ms. Mark da Silva, Senora Paulina, and Stan. A number of our classmates left to go to other schools this year: Alyssa, Mallory, Katy, Katie, Kristin, David V., David O., Ryan, Mike, Kaitlin, and Kelsey.

However, three new students filled their shoes nicely: Will, Topher, and Elizabeth. W e had a special privilege of going to Yosemite for a second year, but we didn't see any bears. Many of the graduating class privileges had to be shared with the fifth grade graduates, but we worked it out - especially recycling ("Recycle or Perish"!!!). W e performed 'The Phantom Tollbooth" in the fall and it was a theatrical chef d'oeuvre. Our classmates will be attending a number of different schools next year, but we hope to never lose touch with our PBS friends. It will be sad to leave but we look forward to new experiences and new challenges.

WHO ARE THEY?

Cinderella Will Loomis 2/26/97 Hello, my name is Gertrude. But you know me as one of the “evil” stepsisters.

Yeah, you guessed it, the ones who were “so mean” to Cinderella. W ell, I’ll tell you what really happened. It all started when my sisters, my mother, and I had to live with Cinderella and her father, who I must say was a terribly dull man. Unfortunately, he passed away, so it was just us and Cinderella.

I tried my best to make her feel comfortable with us, but she would have nothing o f it. Every time I would make a kindly gesture, she would simply reply, “I will only do what I must, but someday I will be the one to marry a prince because I am more beautiful and w ork harder” . And with that, she would trudge off sulking. Finally, my mother (who I must admit was a little bad tempered in her old age, but nothing as bad as the fairy tale made her out to be) became so sick of Cinderella sulking all day, that she gave her more chores until she stopped.

I had just bought a new pair of glass slippers for the big dance. It was said that the prince would choose a bride that evening. Meanwhile, Cinderella said she was not going with us to the dance, but that she might catch up later. I asked her why.

“I want to finish my chores” she said. “Besides, I am the prettiest girl in the whole country. I will show up late and make a grand entrance.”

Can you believe that snotty woman? Then, she did the sneakiest, most low-down thing that any fantasy heroine can do. She kicked me in the foot, causing my foot to swell, so that my new glass slippers wouldn’t fit. I was so depressed I ate six donuts, two cream pastries, two quarts o f ice cream, a bag of cheezits, five root beer floats and three orders o f Kentucky Fried Chicken. But then my dress w ouldn’t fit either. So I couldn’t wear my dress or the slippers.

So then, of course, the prince fell in love with her (because she had my dress and slippers). Then Cinderella played hard-to-get with the prince and ran out in the middle of the party. In her haste, she dropped the glass slipper, so the prince searched the country to find who would fit into the gorgeous slipper. And when it came to me, the shoe didn’t fit.

There isn’t much more to say because I bet you can guess what happened next: they lived happily ever after.

It was two days before the championship game against the Bluejays.

It was my turn inside the batting cage.

I was beaming

having im pressed my coach five times with long blasts into the outfield. Outside the cage waiting for me was the pitcher for the Bluejays, Ryan Fortune, my best friend.

"Hey Ryan," I called.

"Hi!" replied Ryan, "John I want to talk to you after your turn is up, okay?"

"Alright just a minute," I replied. I hit the last ball with a bang and the ran over to Ryan.

"So, how is your team doing?" I asked.

"Let's talk business," he whispered, "Since you're the best hitter on the team and the third basem an I will gives you 250 dollars strike out every time at bat and drop the ball at third base to let runners score. Is it a deal?"

"Ahhhhh! That's a lot o f money.

Why is it so important to

you?" I answered.

"Because I never get to win and you always beat me. So can't I at least win one game!!!!" shouted Ryan. Then he began to pout and cry. "Please can you do it? For me?" Ryan begged.

"Ohh, I'll have to think about it," I whispered, not knowing how big a mistake it w ould be.

"Take the m oney to help you think," Ryan prodded as he stuffed the bills in my hands. The next day as I entered the stadium at San Jose's high school, the crowd was yelling and cheering. By the end of the first inning I struck out and let three runners score. The score was Lions 0, Bluejays 13. At the beginning of the third inning I let the runner steal third base by tagging him and then dropping the ball. I then struck out again and was really contributing to my teams worst lost ever. In the m iddle o f the sixth inning the score was 15 Bluejays Lions 0.

"John I want to talk with you," Coach told me.

"What is it?" I asked innocently.

"I've never seen you play like this," the Coach stated quietly.

Sweat began to form on my head and my heart throbbed.

"Should I risk my relationship with m y friend or win the game," I thought.

"You should have loyalty to your team plus lots o f commitment.

You should be honest here, John," the Coach explained.

"His name is Ryan Fortune. He paid me 250 dollars to strike out and drop the ball at third base so his team could win," I said relieved.

"What I want you to do is to forget whatever is going on in your head, and PLAY BALL!" Coach Dan yelled.

When it was m y turn to bat bases where loaded, and I hit the ball over the fence. Everyone cheered and screamed except for Ryan.

The score now was Bluejays 15

Lions 4. The score in the seventh

inning was Bluejays 15 Lions 9. In the eighth inning we kept them at 15 and drove in 4 runs.

the ninth inning the score was

Bluejays 15 Lions 13. There was two outs and two people on base. I swung at one pitch for a strike. Ryan's eyes were burning into mine.

This tim e he w ound up a way I had never seen him do. He threw the pitch and gave me a ball just scraping my chest.

"He's mad," John thought. Another pitch! A curve ball, I swung at it for a strike. A fastball came right down the middle. I hit it and slam m ed the ball over 300 feet. "The game was over and I had won it for my team," said John to himself. The final score was Lions 16 Bluejays 15.

"I was happy overall because friends shouldn't try to trick you w ith m oney. I feel I have won for myself," John told himself. John returned the to Ryan and said to Ryan, "You and I both made a big mistake."

kit Fugitive Mg name is Joan. I used to live in the country, where the lavish ranch houses are surrounded by a sea of crops; but th at was before.

One day, my parents urged me to take a trip to the city, "A good outing for a young person," in my dad's words.

"Henry," my mom reproved," she's eighteen. And very pretty at that."

Humored, and only slightly depressed at leaving my parents, I boarded the 12:20 northbound train with only a peanut butter sandwich, some pajamas, and $100.

I spent my first fifteen minutes in San Paulo looking in shop windows. I purchased a book, The Giver, at a nearby Borders bookstore.

Despite my snack of the peanut butter sandwich on the train, my stomach was far more the grumbling by 1:00pm, so I bought a tomato sandwich at a deli.

Now I know there is truth to the saying, "Hunger is the best seasoner."

After lunch, I headed toward the Quality Motel, where I had a reservation for the night. I ambled down Main Street a while (three streets, actually) then

I turned down an alley to count how much money I had left.

I did not realize my mistake until too late. A shadowy figure leapt at me from a dark comer, wrenching my arm behind my back. Holding me required two hands, so he could not reach the money I had stuffed in my coat pocket.

"Gimme the money," the man ordered forcefully.

"Give it!"

"I can't reach it, Let go of my arm and I'll get it."

The man must have been a rookie at robbery, for he let go. I started to run back towards the street.

Realizing his foolishness, he pursued, and attempted to tackle, me. I dodged,yet he caught my foot, causing my to fall I hit my head hard on a garbage can. The man grabbed a handle of crumpled dollar bills from my pocket. He tried for more, but I kicked him off. I expected him to run with his bootey, but he turned and charged again.

I kicked out with all my might, and caught him in the throat. Time seemed to slow down as the man fell coughing, in a fit of spasms, then lay still lifeless.

I couldn't believe what I had done. I knew my conscience would haunt me for eternity.

"Hey! Somebody stop th at girl!" a high-voiced woman squeaked. "She ju st killed that man!"

Frightened, I gathered up my scattered money and fled, running faster than I'd ever run.

I hopped a train to New Orleans, where the crowds are large and easy to hide in. I couldn't stay long in each city, though, for fear of being caught.

Occasionally I write my parents, telling them I am fine, yet never leaving a return address.

Now, if you will excuse me, I must catch my train.

The horse righted itself w ithout its rid er and stood still, Maria ran outside fleet as a cat to w here the horse stood; th e re w as not a person in sight. Even spookier w as the tact th a t th e re w as no distubance in the dust. M aria led the horse to h er small red barn w hich w as home to one w hite cow and six chickens. When she w as leading the horse into a m akeshift stall she noticed th e horse s chest hair grew out in an odd way. She had heard farm ers talk about w h eatears this m ust be one. th ey said th a t it w as such bad luck, th a t the horse should be killed. They also said only w itches kept these horses.

M aria w en t inside v e ry shaken and made her w ay to the stairs to her small bedroom.

W hen she w oke up she w en t to check on the horse, and she saw th a t it w as gone.

Still stunned by the absence of the horse M aria decided to go to tow n to explainthat she had seen a w itch's horse.

W hen she arriv ed th ere w as not a person in s ig h t. M aria w as v e ry per plexed. Usually th e tow n w as bustling w ith people on the streets trying to sell th eir w ares and playing chidren, b u t th e re w as none of this! She cautiously crossed the tow n w ith the hope of finding someone. At th e edge of town, she discovered a gigantic black house, its tow ers reaching into the mist, and w as surrounded by an iron gate w ith gargoyles posted at the top. M aria gazed across the lawn and then she saw it: the horse. There, astride the magestic horse, sat a hooded w om an. The w om an dem anded, "Tomorrow you come w ith me or suffered the fate of the tow ns people.

"This is exactly how I becam e a witch, "explained Isabella as she led Maria back home. Maria h u rried inside her cabin and there w as a black v elv et cape just like Isabella's draped over a chair w aiting for her. W hen M aria w en t to feed her chickens in the barn, she found another horse w ith a w heatear, just like Isabella's in place of her chickens.

Where will they be in the year 2022?

Kit Bechtel will win seven gold medals in equestrian events in the Olympics, and then take her fame to Disney Studios where she will take on all the roles requiring horseback riding or horse noises. She will retire from movies early to take the financial helm of Bechtel Corporation where she will decorate and animate all the financial statements,rather than actually do the math. Her ingenuity will serve her well and her mini-inventions will become household must-haves in the technology saturated future.

Maks Bronfman will continue his prowess on basketball courts all over the country, pursuing a dream to play on every NBA team before retiring. He will swallow his pride and coach briefly for Duke University before abandoning basketball altogether to combine Nike and Tropicana commercials for a sweet million.

Emily Dawson will follow Kit to the Olympics with her pony, but will retire after her first gold medal to expand her sweet side as an all-American Dog-Sitter. Tito will be her agent, booking her jobs with some of the most prestigious dogs in the country. The FBI will hire her in her older years to act as a double agent through her canine catering company because no one would ever suspect Emily of anything!

Sedric Drake will have a few more productive years in Little League, and then will pursue a more lucrative a career in both the National Basketball Association and the Forty-niners. However, a serious injury (which he will sustain when trying to scare little old ladies) will cut his professional athletic life short, and we will find him in 2022 in Menlo Park, manager of the biggest Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in the country.

Elizabeth Falcon will attend law school and be offered a fine job at one of the biggest law firms in San Francisco. However, she will leave this career after one year to concentrate on her life-long dream: becoming a super-mommy to ten (or is it twelve) adorable Eli-type children. Her kitchen will become a Betty Crocker test site, and her culinary expertise will be documented in women’s magazines all over the country. At age 35 she will leave all the car pools and runny noses behind and open her own candy store where she will have daily access to her true passion.

Sean Fisher will join the army immediately after elementary school because he already has the outfits, and learn military strategy and latrine sanitation and other useful skills. After a few years of this training, he will take his fine-honed skills to the great outdoors of Asia and explore regions never before seen by man (or woman, sorry, Sean). The last anyone has heard of him was a blurb in an international newspaper which mentioned an unusual stand-up comic who had managed to enthrall some of the world’s most ferocious bears out in the wild with his ridiculous jokes. It is assumed they were referring to Sean.

Alex Johnson will spend a few years as center for the Green Bay Packers, but will retire from this career early with his first injury to his hands. His hands, doncha know, are essential for his true passion: his guitar. He will take such good care of these musical hands, that medical schools across the country will seek him out to prepare him to do brain surgery. Operating rooms will totally change once Jay is in charge, and patients will be cut up to Marilyn Mansen music - with some “unusual” results.

Will Loomis will reach early stardom with his rock music, becoming a teen idol after his first gold record. His photograph with his winning grin will appear on the covers of

teen magazines within weeks of this first recording success, and he will continue to be everyone’s heart-throb. As his millions diminish from his early successes, he will apply to be stunt-man for the Disney movies where Kit is starring, sparing her from the more dangerous activities on the screen. (No one will be able to tell it’s not Kit.) Father Jay will hire him to do some collaboration for his music and he will enjoy a second musical success in his later years.

C hristopher Sakai will have a few difficult years trying to decide between two promising athletic careers: skiing and swimming. He will abandon skiing to throw himself into his Olympics skiing goals because it is easier to pack Pop-Tarts in his ski clothes than in his bathing suit. When the Pop-Tart company hears of this decision, they will offer him a generous salary to do commercials for them from the mountains all over the world. Some people will still be telling him he has had too many, but nothing will stand in the way for Topher!

Tara Scarioni will study acting after high school and make a name for herself i television. When the public finally tires of the image that Oprah offers, Tara will take her place providing the petite side to talk show hostessing. She will continue her dedication to community service, and establish a modeling academy and agency for underprivileged teens. She will marry at age 21 and have five children, all as beautiful as she.

Jackie Schoof will become a veterinarian specializing in rabbits. Her experiments with rabbit breeding will make Scientific Am erican and she will open a special shop for rabbit lovers called “Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow” to sell rabbits to every member of the American community. For a brief period she will pursue her dream to be a pediatrician, but will discover that baby rabbits are less noisy and less complicated than baby humans, and she will return to veterinary medicine.

Laurel Shiba will open a unique beauty salon, dedicated to curly haired people who like to read. Instead of movies magazines in the waiting area, the whole salon will be lined with book shelves filled with fine literature, permitting people to enrich the insides of their head while the beauticians enhance the outside with creative styles for the “non-straight-hairs” of the world. She will, of course, have read every volume in the store.

Joshua Tully will attend the electrical engineering school at Stanford University, concentrating on computer science and image processing. He will earn his PhD working on a virus-protection program for computers which he will call “Just Joshing”.

It will make him millions and he will retire to Brazil where he will teach English in the jungles to the local Indians. They will find his accent intriguing and will stop shooting their blow-guns at him (much to his relief.)

Gordon Whyburn will earn a scholarship for MIT where he will be in all the advanced calculus (and other magic) courses. During the summers, he will supplement his scholarship money by working as an undertaker in Boston, spreading his dry humor to all those who are lying around there with nothing to do. He will still be nice to Tito. He will win the Nobel Prize for a mathematical explanation of what happens to unmatched socks and will dedicate his life to continued research along the vein.
