4th Bangsamoro Foundation Day Kicks Off Jan. 21 By EDD K. USMAN COTABATO CITY — Thousands of people are expected to see, hear, feel and enjoy the colors, the sounds, and the products of the Bangsamoro region as it celebrates its 4th Bangsamoro Foundation Day (BFD) here on January 21 to 27. Participants and visitors will come from the region’s landlocked and island provinces and travel by land, sea, and

air from the region’s various areas that comprised the new political entity (NPE). The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao

(now del Sur and del Norte), Sulu, and TawiTawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the 63 barangays or villages dubbed the Special Geographic Area (SGA) that voted “yes” in a plebiscite in January and February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

OTABATO CITY— The Bangsamoro Chief Minister has assured that the region is “heading towards the right direction” even as he said the path to peace was never easy. Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim said this during the ‘kick-off’ ceremonies of the celebration of the 4th founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023. “Rest assured that we will continue to devote, as we always did, whatever is left of our time here in Dunya for the Bangsamoro,” Ebrahim said. He said in his ‘Report to the Bangsamoro’ that before the installation of the region, “our people had to go through so much pain and suffering. We had to live a life filled with physical and structural violence.” The Bangsamoro leader said, “The mere fact that we had to work together with individuals whom we once considered as adversaries required the highest level of commitment, understanding, and submission to the will of ALLAH (SWT).” “Looking back, the path to peace was never easy.,” Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim stressed during the first day of the weeklong celebrations of Bangsamoro foundation anniversary.
