Design, to me, is about the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. The stark difference between “art” and “design” is the initial purpose. Art can be a stand-alone element that delivers an impactful message. However, design is a certain form or shape that is somehow integrated into our everyday lifestyle as a functional element.
That is the most magnificent and awesome thing about designs: it’s significance. Something as simple as a change in form that can lead to a change in one’s lifestyle and the societal norm of how we do things.

A1:ART.DENTITY For our first assignment, we are required to produce an art piece that best reflects the personality of an assigned fictional character. To execute this project, we had to thoroughly study the personalities and characteristics of our assigned character (see DPJ
01), then, by implementing design principles and graphic rules, produce a final composition.
My character was Eevee, the Evolution Pokemon from the Pokemon series. I chose the circle as my primary shape as it best portrays her cuteness and well-roundedness.

A2:3D.ENTITY In groups of four, we were required identify common points among our characters. After selecting a prominent similarity, we were then required to make small 5cm x 5cm x 30cm models that best reflect that feature, yet remain unique to our character.
For this assignment, I teamed up with Yeshohdhan (R2-D2), Nicole Low (The Joker), and Sophia Ameena (Catwoman). We chose “Transfiguration as our focus word as we discovered that all our characters

FP:THE IDENTITY TOWER For the last design assignment, we were required to make a 10x10x40cm tower for our assigned
character.
The
task
was
to
understand why our character needs a tower
(see DPJ 02 and 03) , tailor designated spaces to serve specific functions, as well as integrate designs that best reflect the persona of our character.
For my Eevee, I decided to build a tower for her to play as it suits her playful nature. The slide and ball pit becomes the main attraction of the tower.

THE DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL The Design Process Journal (DPJ) aims to document any research or design procedures that take place during the period of our assignments. It is a readilyavailable platform for mind-mapping, case studies, analyses, ideas, and etc.
I have compiled three DPJs this semester: DPJ 01 (which directly affect Assignment 1), DPJ 02 and DPJ 03 (Both influences Final Project). In overview, DPJ 01 contains in-depth research on Eevee, while DPJ 02 and 03 discusses more on the tower.

Front covers of DPJ 01 and DPJ 02. DPJ 03 does not have a cover.
DPJ 01 The first DPJ focuses on identifying who Eevee is and what her capabilities are. It helps me to understand my “client” on a deeper level.

Conclusion: shape, keyword and colour.

DPJ 02 The second DPJ focuses more on the concept of an Eevee identity tower. It also touches on topics of function, tower features, and suitability of the location. In the end, I also produced two photo montages on the possible Eevee tower and location.

I chose to design a Thai-style garden due to my love for tomyum and pandan chicken. Some of the selected pages include a master plan, landscape elevation, landscape section, and bubble diagram.

Assignment 2B: This assignment under the Built Environment requires us to improve an existing township (Tanjung Tokong @ Penang). This is a group project consisting of Sophia Ameena, Nicole Low, Phillip Yap, Yeshohdhan, and Jasmine Tan. I partook in the graphics and ideations.
