Chow Kit Playscape

Urban Intervention at Chow Kit, WP Kuala Lumpur..

A convivial playing and learning center to counterpoise the harsh that is so mired in indifference The Chow Kit Playscape was designed to provide a safe heaven for the stateless children of Chow Kit.

By borrowing elements from the hard industrialstyle of the Brutalism movement and married with conceptual fantasy architecture like Santa’s Workshop, the Chow Kit Playscape hopes to

Soften the silhouette of the ever-developing cluster in Kuala Lumpur

(right) The spaces are divided into two blocks: Concealed and Exposed based on the nature of the activities The two blocks are connected by a free play area.

Garden of Connections

Neighborhood Centre at Klang, Selangor.

Sitting on the prime corner of the former “Royal Town” of Malaysia sits my proposal for a neighborhood centre, a central hub for job opportunities in the Klang Township

Tackling the looming economic recession following the post COVID-19 pandemic, The Jobsearch Garden offers a safe space for small-time work-from-home business owners to connect with the locale.

15 Roof with 150MM RC base, 10MM Aluminum insulation cladded with black polymer/ rubber tiles

Employment is also provided via urban farming of spices and herbs for the neighboring food places while simultaneously bringing the community together.

“A piece of architecture that receives and provides; with people through the people ” The Klang Jobsearch Gardens hopes to create a sense of community and propagate the cycle of giving back

Hilltop

Community Garden Centre at USJ 2, Selangor.

The hilltop Community Garden Centre is an extended facility center to the existing community garden of USJ 2. The center, a locale for communal gatherings, features a plethora of locally grown produces and ample spaces for various elderly-friendly activities for the whole family to enjoy. A rooftop play area tops the centre for children to run around

Large play and planting area crowning the community center

This project focuses on satisfying the needs and wants of the elderly population in residential areas By integrating modular spaces designed with age-specific focus, the Hilltop Community Garden Centre hopes to rekindle intergenerational bonding for the families of USJ 2.

Cultural Interpretive Centre at Tanjung Malim, Perak.

Bygones by the Rails is my proposal for a cultural intervention at Tanjung Malim, a former node of transport hub connecting the Northern peninsula to the capital city, Kuala Lumpur This township grew to obsolescence with the introduction of the North-South highway

By continuing the silhouette of the neighboring Chinese shophouses, the Bygones provides an inside-outside experience derived from an interpolation of the traditional layout, hoping to celebrate the fading community and reconnect with the younger generation to come.

Wind Down House

Weekend Retreat at Kuala Selangor Nature Reserve, Selangor.

The project heavily emphasizes on site conditions and sufficient design responses. The waqf site sits beside a dirt path leading up to a little gazebo overlooking the beautiful mangrove swamp

The Wind Down House is An open floor plan weekend getaway, providing hierarchal levels of activities and inviting in the natural prevailing winds to cool down the structure in this hot and humid climate

Prancing Pavilion

Pavilion at an imaginary site

The Dancing Lady is our 1:1 bamboo model which explores the marriage between architectural tectonics and ergonomics of human banal actions made through coexistence of materiality, bamboo and fabric Our team went with the banal action of dancing while walking when we noticed one of us doing so (me)

The Prancing Pavilion, as our final project of the semester, reimagines the previous model but in a larger scale with the more common materials, concrete and timber.

Here are the snippets from the few weeks of fun

07 Nasi Lemak Pavillion

Nestled in the heart of Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur is The Love @ Malaysian Tourism Center (MaTiC) In early 2022, a competition was held by International Welfare, Economics & Leadership Dialogue (I-WELD) to design a shaded pavilion attached to the main entrance of the MaTiC.

As the focal point of the site, we wanted to incorporate what, to us, was the embodiment of Malaysian Culture: Nasi Lemak. The form takes inspiration from the traditional folding of nasi lemak with banana leaves.

After experimentation with different origami styles, we designed a pavilion which also acts as a blank canvas for potential light shows in the heart of Kuala Lumpur

Assistant Architect Freelance Graphic Designer

I became an architectural assistant to PCL Architect, in partnership with Idea Workshop, a professional architectural practice in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya after the end of my bachelor’s degree program in November 2022

During my time in PCL Architect, I was tasked with a variety of draft work and post-production for all stages of the design and construction process. My team and I worked together tirelessly and for countless hours, but finally, I have gained much as a fresh graduate and the end justifies the means

I have also ventured into freelance graphic design on the side Here are some examples

Exterior view of MAC Nursing Home in Petaling Jaya

Drafting works include spatial planning and visualization for various projects including institutional church (top) and variety of residential projects (bottom)
