The Nodaway County Fair Board chose the couple

for their years of service to the community.

Bud and Mary Boyles moved to Nodaway County in the 1970s. For more than 40 years, they were involved in business in Maryville.

Bud founded Wilkinson Motors in 1971 with Dick Wilkinson. In 1984, the dealership

became Boyles Motors. Both Bud and Mary worked at Boyles Motors until their retirement. Doug Meyer purchased the dealership — now Meyer Auto Center — in 2015.

The Boyles also owned several farms throughout Nodaway County.

Upon retiring from the auto sales business, the couple sold their farms. While they are enjoying retirement, they do miss interacting with their customers and the community at Boyles Motors.

“I miss the employees, and I miss the customers,” Bud said.

community went beyond their work at Boyles Motors.

In the past, the couple loaned their flatbed truck to Northwest Missouri State University for moving bleachers. They also loaned the truck every year for hauling and transporting fair items.

“We were part of the community, and we liked to help,” Bud said.

The fair board chose the Boyles couple to be honored as

grand marshals because of their loyalty to the Nodaway County community over the years.

Mary said she and her husband are very honored to be grand marshals this year.

“I hope we’re worthy of it,” Mary said.

Participating as the Nodaway County Fair’s grand marshals will provide an opportunity for Bud and Mary to once again interact with the community they cherish so much.
