Home Repair Funds Available Community Services, Inc. will once again administer the Home Repair Opportunity Program (HeRO). The HeRO Program for 2012, which is underway, has funds allocated to provide home repair and renovation services for homeowners in the Northwest Missouri area. This includes the counties of Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth. This year, Community Services, Inc. will be able to allocate up to $20,000 dollars of funding per home. The HeRO Program is a federal HOME program that is administered at the state level by the Missouri Housing Development Commission. The program can address issues related to residential code infractions such as electrical improvements, accessibility, lead paint risks, weatherization and home energy retrofits, and rehabilitation to possibly include replacing windows, roof repair and replacement siding, painting as well as porch and foundation repair. Funding must be used on qualifying owner-occupied houses of low to very-low income households. A great deal can be accomplished with this flexible program to improve the quality of life for residents of Northwest Missouri. There are eligibility requirements for the program, and applications are being accepted through October 1st, 2012 at Community Services, Inc. located at 1212B South Main, Maryville, MO 64468.
