It is the news that we have been waiting for. A few days ago I received a telephone call from Steve Waits of Chillicothe. He wanted to set down and talk about his new steak house, lounge and banquet room all being built at the intersection of First Street and Locust and just west of the Wabash BBQ. First, official ground was broken last Tuesday on a beautiful Valentine’s Day for Chillicothe’s newest steak house that will operate under the name of Blackwater Restaurant & Lounge.
The 6,000-square-foot building will be divided into three areas — dining (seating for 125); lounge (seating for 30) and meeting and event area (seating for 70). The building will be at the west side of the four lots purchased last Fall by Waits, and parking will be on the east side near Elm as well as street and offstreet parking. If the weatherman cooperates and all goes well, Waits said he hopes to open Blackwater by the end of May or first of June. Waits has retired from farming and
