This message is NOT anti-trapping, it is hopefully to educate. Sheeba is a wonderful family pet and an outside dog that comes in the house at night. She came up missing Dec. 31. We looked everywhere, very worried since the weather was to drop dangerously cold. We had given up hope and then Jan. 6 she showed up, limping badly. She had been caught in a leg hold trap. The vet said no bones were broken but the frostbite and lack of circulation were a big concern. She had to have her front left leg amputated. Sheeba has a wonderful spirit and is coping well. We suspect she was released from the trap by someone because the swelling in her paw would have prevented her escape. We believe the vast majority of trappers are responsible folk. We encourage anyone that traps to follow the law and check your traps every day. Our thanks to Nodaway Veterinary for their excellent care of Sheeba.

This position will inspect the construction of public infrastructure and facilities as well as other types of construction work and materials to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Primary duties include observation, measurement, testing, and documentation. Other duties will include plan review and inspections of rental properties, unsafe & dangerous properties, and driveways. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Two years of experience in building/construction trades, the inspection of community development and capital improvement projects, or a related field. Must have or be willing to obtain within 6 months of employment, the following certifications from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Technician Certification Program: Soil Density, Concrete Strength, Concrete Field, Aggregate Technician, Bituminous Technician, Plasticity Index, and International Roughness Index (IRI). Must have a valid Missouri driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Starting salary is $26,250-$42,200 DOQ.
