BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Becoming a Phi Kappa Tau brother on November 4, 2024 was a sentinel moment in my life. Sometimes things happen at the best time in this journey. Ten days before my initiation, my wife was diagnosed with cancer. Having the Phi Tau brotherhood wrap your arms around me meant the world to Denise and me. It made it bearable and, thankfully, she is doing wonderfully now. The Foundation is growing, building relationships throughout the country, and becoming the Philanthropic Home for Phi Kappa Tau! We celebrate every gift listed in this report, stewarding each gift so that they best accomplish the vision and aspirations of our donors. Unrestricted gifts to the Brotherhood Fund, are especially powerful in Phi Kappa Tau’s growth and development. Brotherhood Fund gifts enable our trustees to designate these resources areas of greatest need. The Fraternity’s leadership education programs are at the top of that list of priorities. These impactful programs like the Zenith Officer Institute, Leadership Academy and Regional Conferences are what differentiates the Phi Tau experience from many other Greek organizations. Please consider this designation in whole or part when making your gifts. On behalf of the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation Board of Trustees and the Foundation staff, I offer our most sincere gratitude for your support. We are making a difference, enabling our young men to become Men of Distinction. Please remember us this year as we continue our mission to support the Phi Kappa Tau and our student members in all they do. Do not hesitate to contact me to discuss how you can make the greatest impact on our Fraternity. With kind regards, In Phi,

Craig Rogers Craig Rogers Chief Executive Officer Phi Kappa Tau Foundation

Celebrating 80 Years Early in the 2026 fiscal year, the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation celebrated its 80th anniversary, having been founded in August 1945 as the Educational Endowment Fund. Its early growth was slow and steady and it took nearly 40 years for the loyal donors to build the assets to $1-million in endowment. Now, in just this past year Phi Kappa Tau members and friends have committed more than $3.25-million in new gifts and pledges. Beginning with the vision and leadership of past national president Ewing Boles (Centre 1914) and a small group of other past presidents and fraternity leaders, the Foundation operated quietly for the first half of its existence, with occasional efforts to raise funds and periodic small grants and scholarships awarded. To respond to the urgent need for additional funding to support Fraternity programming, Boles famously accepted the challenge of Fraternity leaders in the early 1980s to issue a $1-million challenge gift. In the campaign that became known as “The Decision for Phi Kappa Tau” Boles offered the largest gift ever given to a fraternity or sorority foundation up to that time if a second $1 million could be raised to match Boles’ gift. By the time the campaign was publicly announced at the 1903 National Convention, the goal had been raised to $3 million and that was ultimately exceeded by $200,000. The growth in the Foundation’s endowment made possible a national Leadership Academy which has evolved into a portfolio of outstanding educational and leadership programming each year. The Foundation has continued to support the Fraternity and its members in significant ways by vastly expanding its scholarship program for deserving students, by creating individual chapter-specific funds for educational programs and travel, for educational portions of chapter housing projects and local scholarships. As Phi Kappa Tau approached its Centennial, the Foundation mounted another major capital campaign, the “Commitment to Character” which made significant improvements to the Fraternity and Foundation’s shared headquarters in Oxford, Ohio with notable additions such as the Norman Brown Heritage Room and the Centennial Gardens as well as bolstering future commitments to the Foundation through its Heritage Society and building resources to support the service component of the Phi Tau experience and our commitment to SeriousFun, the network of camps for children with serious illnesses founded by famed actor and philanthropist Paul Newman (Ohio 1943). After eight decades, the Foundation continues to grow, brother by brother, reaching heights probably unimagined by the early leaders of the Foundation. And the best is yet to come…

In Memory of Frederick E. Mills We dedicate this year’s Annual Report to the memory of Phi Kappa Tau Foundation and Fraternity leader Frederick E. Mills (Ohio State 1966). A Foundation officer for two decades, Fred was tapped as secretary of the Foundation board in the late 1970s and went on to serve as treasurer, president and chairman until his retirement in 1997. Under his leadership, Fred saw the Foundation evolve from a small volunteer-run organization through its groundbreaking 1982-84 capital campaign to become a professionally-staffed multimillion dollar organization. He developed a close relationship with Foundation chairman and founder Ewing Boles in the later years of Boles’ life, sharing daily early-morning telephone conversations. In his role as volunteer head of the Foundation, he also served for many years as a member of the Phi Kappa Tau National Council, working to build strong and trusting relationships with Fraternity leaders. Chapter Eternal has gained a great Phi Tau leader whose impact on the lives of our members will be felt for decades to come.

New Fund honors Gamma Omicron’s Tim Clark Through the leadership of Al Fong (Cal State Fullerton 1967), the Timothy Clark Memorial Fund has been created as a permanent endowment to provide travel grants to members of the newly-rechartered Gamma Omicron Chapter at Cal State Fullerton. This fund will help chapter members attend national and regional educational and leadership programs such as the National Convention, Zenith Officer Institute, Regional Conferences and the Leadership Academy for emerging Phi Tau leaders. For decades, Tim Clark was the glue that held Gamma Omicron alumni together. One of the earliest members of the chapter, every member of Gamma Omicron knew him and he worked tirelessly to communicate with his fellow alumni, to build relationships with the national fraternity and its leaders and to host events attracting alumni back to the chapter’s iconic home, “The Barn.” There is no more fitting way to honor his memory than to build this permanent fund in his name. Gifts and pledges of $25,000 have already been committed to the fund and additional gifts are invited.

On April 18, 2026, the Gamma Omicron Chapter officially returned to Cal State Fullerton. 4

More than 50 alumni brothers from the Orange County area gathered at Brewery X to celebrate.

Chapter Support Fund Offers New Option for Giving The Foundation has a long history of offering donors a tax-deductible vehicle to support housing and other local chapter programs. But the Internal Revenue Service limits the use of these donated funds to certain educational and charitable purposes consistent with Section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS Code. These limitations are sometimes difficult to understand and challenging to apply. In addition, with the IRS’s recent increases in the standard deduction, many fewer donors actually need or are able to use a charitable deduction in their annual tax filings. To capitalize on this opportunity to create an avenue for non-deductible giving, the Foundation created a separate entity called the Chapter Support Fund. It is a non-profit organization with the same status as the national fraternity, its local chapters and house corporations and described in section 501 (c)(7) of the IRS Code. This new entity allows donors to bypass the Foundation grant restrictions and make a gift to support a chapter that is completely unrestricted.

Alpha Eta Pilot In a pilot program with Alpha Eta Chapter at the University of Florida, Foundation staff have helped local volunteers to raise deductible and non-deductible funds to support renovations to the chapter’s beloved but aging chapter house in Gainesville. This successful fund-raising effort has garnered over $1-million in gifts from alumni and friends to substantially renovate the chapter house. More than 100 alumni attended the chapter’s Centennial celebration earlier this year to celebrate the first two phases of renovations and to kick off both a third phase of house improvements and to launch a long-term funding plan for the second century of Alpha Eta. The lessons learned at Alpha Eta are now being applied to housing projects for a number of other chapters and the Foundation welcomes the opportunity to work with additional chapters in the future.

Jim Bacon continues Family Legacy with gifts to Gamma Alpha Foundation trustee Jim Bacon (Michigan Tech 1959) has joined Ewing Boles as only the second living alumnus to exceed $1-million in lifetime giving. As the head of a threegeneration family of Michigan Tech Phi Taus, Jim has built the Bacon-Hlivak Legacy Fund into the largest scholarship fund in the Foundation’s portfolio. Providing both merit-based and need-based scholarships to members of Gamma Alpha Chapter, the Bacon-Hlivak Fund is reducing the burden of the cost of higher education for chapter members and their families and adding a tangible financial benefit to membership in this consistently strong Phi Tau chapters in the far Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Jim Bacon, Michigan Tech ‘59

As strong as alumni support is at Gamma Alpha, Jim Bacon stands alone as the exemplar of chapter loyalty and in the message of the Phi Kappa Tau Creed which challenges to “keep strong our ties” to our chapters and alma maters that we may “ever retain the spirit of youth.” Now well into his seventh decade of membership, Jim Bacon has done just that! 5

Lasting Legacy for Educational and Leadership Programming Marilyn and David Ruckman Fund Created with memorial funds for longtime Foundation chairman and trustee, David Ruckman (Ohio State 1962), this fund received an additional $1-million commitment from David’s wife, Marilyn this past year. When fully funded, this fund will provide a significant and reliable source of income for the Fraternity’s educational programming. This fund is a major step forward in the Foundation’s goal to permanently endow its annual support of the Fraternity’s leadership and educational programming. This groundbreaking commitment from Marilyn Ruckman to honor her late husband David will be a lasting legacy to his belief in the value of Phi Kappa Tau and in the power of philanthropy. David served as a trustee of the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation and as the Foundation’s chair for many of those years. His leadership on the Foundation board and as an ex-officio member of the Fraternity’s National Council and coordinating committee has had a lasting impact on both organizations. His mentorship and wise counsel to fraternity leaders over the years will be remembered for the impact it had on their lives and careers.

Raymond A. Bichimer Memorial Fund A memorial to Raymond A. Bichimer (Ohio State 1954) who served as president of the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation and national president of the Fraternity, this major fund has received significant contributions from Ray’s wife Nancy, his son, Mike (Miami 1981), a current Foundation trustee and other members of the Bichimer family. This fund continues to support all aspects of educational programming.

Speakers Fund Established by past national president Jay McCann (Spring Hill), this permanent fund provides income to pay for outstanding speakers at national event.

Steve Hartman VDI Fund In honor of former fraternity and foundation CEO Steve Hartman (Muskingum), a number of alumni created a permanent endowment to support the Volunteer Development Institute which Steve helped to create and develop during his tenure as Phi Kappa Tau’s chief executive. This important program to support and encourage the hard working chapter level volunteers who are so critical to the success of chapters has been paused in recent years but is being revived as part of the Zenith Officer Institute which is become one of the primary pillars of the Fraternity’s programming. Beginning this January, we will be bringing together both alumni volunteers and undergraduate leaders to support them in their growth and development.

McCrum Family Brotherhood Fund Past national president Mike McCrum (Texas State) and his wife, Ana endowed this fund to support the aspects of Fraternity programming that focus on Brotherhood. This fund helped, in part, to support a new Chaplain track at the Zenith Officer Institute. 7

Boles Society The backbone of our annual campaign is the Ewing T. Boles Society. Those generous donors who give $1,000 or moreoften much, much more-account for the majority of all giving to the Foundation. And we simply cannot support the educational initiatives of the Fraternity, fund educational scholarships and support our individual chapters without their generosity. Building on last year’s success, the Boles 1000 initiative continues this year, strengthening our commitment to growing support at the Boles level. Below is a list of the Boles Society Members for the fiscal year 2025-2026, and through their support, Phi Kappa Tau will continue to thrive long into the future. The journey to 1000 Boles Members is well underway, and we will continue to inch closer to that goal with each passing year!

Ways to Give While most donors simply make gifts through the Foundation’s online giving portal www.phikappatau.org/give with a credit or debit card or mail a check to our offices in Oxford, Ohio, there are many other ways to give that may have benefits to the donor. Consider some of these options: AUTOMATIC FUND TRANSFERS Regular automatic monthly bank or credit card drafts make giving to the Foundation more convenient to meet your philanthropic goals. You can “set it and forget it” at phikappatau.org/give QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION Donors who are at least 70 ½ in age may make QCD contributions to the Foundation directly from their IRA’s or other qualified plans to help meet the minimum distribution requirements but avoid income tax. APPRECIATED STOCK/SECURITIES Gifts of stock or appreciated securities offer a cash alternative to giving with great tax benefits to the donor. Transfer the securities in kind, avoid capital gains tax and get credit for the full market value of the gift. CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS Many companies match their employee’s personal charitable contributions. Ask your employer if your company participates in a matching gift program and make the Foundation your nonprofit choice. DEFERRED GIFTS The Foundation will work with you and your estate planner to design a planned gift that meets your shortand long-term financial goals. Planned gifts include, gifts from wills, trusts or as a beneficiary designation from a qualified plan or life insurance policy. LIFE INSURANCE The gift of life insurance can make a remarkable difference for a relatively small dollar investment in premium payments by you during your lifetime. The Foundation can be named as owner of the policy and as such the premiums paid qualify as a tax-deductible gift or an existing policy can name the Foundation as the beneficiary. Benefits paid from such policies not only generate a substantial gift to the Foundation but are not taxable as a part of your estate. Phi Kappa Tau Foundation staff members are always available to answer questions and help with gifts of all types. Find us at phikappatau.org
