PHantastic time
from Emphasis Winter 2015
by PHA UK
A PHantastic time was had by all!
More than 270 people of all ages attended PHA UK’s 15th Anniversary Conference at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire from Friday 30th October to Sunday 1st November 2015. A packed programme included presentations by professionals about the latest developments in PH treatment and care, as well as insights from people living with pulmonary hypertension. There were also social and creative activities for children and adults and plenty of opportunities to get to know others affected by PH. A fabulous gala dinner and fireworks rounded off the weekend to celebrate our association’s anniversary – and look forward to the future.

“The children provided a vibrant atmosphere not experienced at conference before. There was a greater sense of community. And parents had the opportunity to attend knowing they could take part in the sessions with their children safely looked after and enjoying themselves. The fireworks and gala dinner were the perfect finale.” Kay Yeowart, Suffolk

“As well as meeting so many friendly people it was very informative and helped us get a better understanding of PH. Well done to all at the PHA who did us all proud.” Mark Kingston, Bognor Regis, West Sussex “The talks were very informative and the seminars were interesting too. I especially enjoyed learning CPR with St John's Ambulance. The promising and positive attitude given by each speaker was such a comfort. There are so many new treatments in the pipeline, that there is no way that any of us cannot have continuous hope!” Tess Dunn, Essex
“An excellent event and trusted speakers to update us all on exciting times ahead for PH sufferers! It was a privilege to be amongst so many amazing and strong people. PH sufferers are always optimistic and the most valuable gift from the conference still remains the contacts made between people from all over the country.” Julie Royle, Manchester

“Congratulations on a wonderful conference. It was inspirational to speak with so many patients and carers and parents during the gala dinner - and I realised why I do what I do. Utterly wonderful experience and very moving.” Professor Paul Corris, Newcastle “Thank you PHA UK, it was fantastic and Mark and Lucy said the fireworks were amazing. We look forward to next year’s event.” Anna Bowen, Llandysul, Wales

“We had a great time including our two kids who got to understand a bit more about PH and enjoyed themselves so much. It was great for them to see PH isn’t all about doom and gloom and hospital appointments.” Laura and James Ling, Dover
“I found it extremely informative and so helpful to meet others with PH. The kids are already asking if they can come again next year!” Jayne Venables, Kent

“One of the best weekends ever and our daughter made new PHriends! One of her highlights was having her photo taken with the lovely Stacie Pridden.” Kelly and Kevin Brand, Lancashire
