Ever wonder where the tradition of hanging stockings came from? Learn about this tradition while visiting with Sint Niklaas, the Flemish forerunner of our modern Santa Claus. Children enjoy a Belgian-inspired breakfast with their parents and receive a gift. Children ages 3-10 ONLY. Advance payment required by November 16; capacity is limited. Jazz ON THE LAWN

Two hundred years ago, the United States declared war on Great Britain. In the next three years, Riversdale joins other sites on the StarSpangled Banner Trail to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

BATTLE OF BLADENSBURG ENCAMPMENT Bring the family to join British and American War of 1812 troops as they camp on the lawn to prepare for battle. You could be recruited to join the American militia! There are children’s activities and live music through the afternoon. The Riversdale Kitchen Guild sells period-inspired refreshments. Scouts, call for details about earning a badge! FREE; $2 for house tours.
