5. Naturopathic Prevention & Treatment Strategies for Viral Stress

SARS Coronavirus-2 Prevention & Treatment

Dr. Glidden makes no claims as to the efficacy of the recommendations contained in this document. The human body is a complicated thing and is the reason why medical malpractice insurance premiums are the highest for anesthesiologists - because you never really know how someone’s body is going to react to whatever you are putting into it. This not only applies to pharmaceuticals, but to Naturopathic therapeutics as well. It is rare that a naturopathic treatment will hurt someone (unlike pharmaceuticals), but sometimes the naturopathic strategies are insufficient to the cause. Nothing is 100% set in stone - as there are always many variables at play. In this document, Dr. Glidden will show you what he and a few of his colleagues have seen work in the past with their patients, but that is no guarantee that the recommendations outlined here will be 100% effective for you. It is always a good idea to secure the services of a local, licensed and regulated Naturopathic doctor to help you objectively gauge your response to the health-recovery strategies you currently are using, or the ones you are considering adopting - whether they are recommended by Dr. Glidden, or by someone else. Below are my recommendations for how to build your health during the SARS

Coronavirus-2 viral pandemic. I have broken them down into 3 parts:

1. Building a Foundation for Health – What to do, every day from now on, to optimize your overall health.

2. Prevention – What to do to make your system strong so that if you do become infected, it is a short lived and uncomplicated illness.

3. Treatment - What to do if you actually do become infected with SARS

Coronavirus-2.

These recommendations are based on what myself and my colleagues have actually seen work in clinical settings over the course of our professional careers. They are not theoretical. They are science-based and clinically verified. Please keep in mind that, like all medical treatments, these recommendations are not guaranteed. As mentioned in the disclaimer at the top of this document, the human body is a complicated thing – and different people will react differently to the same treatment. Generally speaking, the recommendations below are a very good place to start and will go a long way towards optimizing your body’s health – which is never a bad idea, whether you are dealing with viral stress or not.

1) Building a Strong Foundation for Health

• Meditate for 15 minutes a day. • I have been a meditator since the age of 13. I am 62 now and have a good deal of experience in this area. I have put together written instructions for how to perform one of my favorite meditations. It can be found at the end of this document.

• Eliminate the 12 Bad Foods (Wheat, Barley, Rye, Oats, Oil in a bottle, Fried

Food, Well-Done Red meat, Meat with Nitrates/Nitrites added as preservatives, Skins of Baked Potatoes/yams/sweet potatoes, Carbonated beverages before or during a meal, Corn & Soy – unless they are organic & non-GMO). Information about why these foods are bad for you can be found here.

• Salt your food so that it tastes good. Dr. Glidden recommends “Real Salt” from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, or Celtic Seat Salt. If you can find one of these brands that has Iodine added to it, all the better. You can watch a video presentation regarding the subject of Salt here.

• Take the following nutritional supplements regularly.

Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0 powder (BTT) Beyond Osteo Fx liquid calcium (BOFx) Plant Derived Minerals (PDM) Projoba omega

o How to Take:

• In a blender mix 1 scoop of the BTT, ½ scoop of the

BOFx, 1 ounce of the PDM with 2 cups of water, a little ice, organic fruit (fresh or frozen) and some protein powder of your choice. Take at least 1 hour to drink it down. Do this twice a day. • Projoba omega: 2 caps twice daily with food.

o How to Get: The products above are the ones Dr. Glidden uses himself and currently recommends. They are sold by a California based company called Youngevity. Youngevity distributes its products via an international network of independent distributers. If you are already taking a vitamin program and are happy with it, then the only product that you would benefit from adding to your current program is the “Plant Derived Minerals” mentioned above. 2) Immune Support for Prevention During the SARS Coronavirus 2 Viral Pandemic

Please do these things in addition to the Building a Strong Foundation for Health steps outlined above.

• Eat 50-60 grams of protein every day. Your immune system is made from protein – so it just makes sense to feed it properly. Make sure that the protein you eat is Not on the “Bad-Foods” list. Hitting this number by the addition of a Protein-Powder to your daily diet is perfectly fine. Use whichever one you like.

• Donate a pint of blood. According to Morley Robbins’ research, one of the leading drivers of poor immune health is an overload of Iron in the human body. The easiest way to dump excessive iron from the body is by donating blood. By the way - this theory of “iron-overload” is one that very few medical practitioners have any working knowledge about what-so-ever. I wouldn’t tell the blood-bank people that this is what you are trying to accomplish – as they wouldn’t understand it.

• Get an Organic Lemon. Cut it in half and squeeze the juice into a cup of hot water (or hot tea). Drink it down. The “full-spectrum” Vitamin C contained in the lemon juice is a very effective strengthener for your immune health. Please note – Vitamin C from lemon juice is very different from most over the counter Vitamin C supplements – as the latter are 100% “Ascorbic acid,” which is not recommended in high doses.

• Dr. Jared Zeff, one of the most respected Naturopathic physicians in the world recommends Constitutional Hydrotherapy as an integral part of any

Immune-Support program. An easy way to accomplish this for prevention purposes is as follows:

A cold rinse at the end of a hot shower. Wow! This is challenging! The best way to do this is to just “go for it” and turn the hot water all the way off all at once (kind of like jumping into a cold lake or ocean rather than wading in slowly. It is best to just get it over with ASAP). Run in place in the cold-water shower, yell and scream (let your housemates know what you are up to) and do whatever it takes to remain in the cold shower for at least 30 seconds (a full minute is better). Of course, you need to take precautions so that you don’t slip and fall, and if you have a pacemaker or a feeble heart then this is Not recommended. (It is perfectly fine to yell “I hate you Dr. Glidden” at any time during this process ;-) (A more through approach to Constitutional Hydrotherapy is outlined in the “Treatment” part of this document here).

• Immune-Supportive Herbal Tea recipes from the desk of Dr. Virender

Sodhi:

o Recipe #1: • 1 tsp grated turmeric root or ½ tsp turmeric powder • 1 tsp grated ginger root or ½ tsp dried ground ginger • Pinch of black pepper • ½ lemon juiced • 2 tsp raw honey (organic and local is best) • 1 ½ cups filtered water Bring the water, turmeric, ginger and black pepper to a gentle simmer, cooking for 10 minutes on low heat. You don't want the pot to bubble or boil. Take off the heat and squeeze in the lemon juice.

Strain the tea into a cup and add 1 teaspoon of honey. If using raw honey, wait for the tea to cool down a few minutes so the heat doesn't destroy some of its nutrients. Enjoy!

o Recipe #2: • 1-inch piece Ginger root (or 1 tsp. ginger powder) • 1-inch piece Turmeric root (or 1 tsp. turmeric powder) • 1 stick cinnamon (or 1

tsp. cinnamon powder) • 2-3 slices of Lemon • Cayenne pepper • Raw honey • A medium sized pot In a medium sized pot, add ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, lemon and a small dash of cayenne. Fill the pot 3/4 with filtered water. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it stand for a few minutes until it's the temperature that you like. Pour the liquid into mug or mason jar. Enjoy!

o Recipe #3: • 1 stick of cinnamon • 1 stick (or 1 tsp.) of licorice root • 1-2 tsp. holy basil leaves (torn) • ½ tsp. grated ginger • ½ lemon juiced •

Honey to taste (optional) • 2 ½ cups filtered water Bring one cup water to a boil on the stove. Once boiling, add remaining ingredients (except honey) to the pot and lower heat. Simmer for at least 5 minutes. Strain herbs and serve hot. If you’re using honey, make sure to let the tea cool down a bit first before adding.

• Homeopathy: o The recommendations here are subject to change, so it is best to frequent my website for updates regularly. As of October 1, 2021, the recommendation is:

• Bryonia alba 30C:

o Adults - Take 2 pellets orally 3 times in one day. Do this once a week (e.g., Every Sunday take 2 pellets in the morning, 2 pellets in the afternoon and 2 pellets in the evening). o Children – Take 2 pellets orally once a week.

For those of you not familiar with homeopathy, you can purchase homeopathic medicines (called “Remedies”) at any Health Food Store and/or Whole Foods outlet. They are also available Online. Homeopathic remedies are sold in small plastic or glass tubes/bottles that are about the size of your pinky finger. One tube/bottle is all that you will need. One unit will cost from $6-$12 USD. Inside are about 100 small, medicated sugar pellets. I wrote extensively about homeopathy in my first book Everybody is Sick, and I know Why, which you can find at my Amazon channel.

• “Super Olive Health” This is an alcohol extract of wildcrafted and organic Olive Leaf. A write-up on this wonderful herb can be found at the end of this document.

Dosage:

• Adults: 2ml (there is a 1 ml mark on the dropper in the bottle) 3 times daily. o Children: 1 ml 3 times daily. o Toddlers: 1 ml a day • Purchase this product at the same place you ordered the

Building a Strong Foundation for Health section in the beginning of this document.

• Cod Liver Oil capsules: This is the BEST way to get Vitamin D (which is a hormone, by the way, and not a vitamin) into your body in the wintertime. Dr.

Glidden prefers the Rosita brand. You can order it here.

Dosage

• Adults: 2 caps 2 times daily with food. • Children: 1 cap 2x daily with food. • Toddlers: 1 cap a day – pierce the cap with a sterilized needle and squeeze oil into mouth or onto food.

2) What To Do If You Come Down With A SARS Coronavirus-2 Infection

• Eat chicken soup in whatever form you find most enjoyable.

• Increase the Lemon Juice intake to three times a day.

• Increase the Plant Derived Mineral Dose o Adults: 1 ounce 3 times a day o Children: 1 ounce twice a day

• Increase the Rosita Cod Liver oil dose: o Adults: 3 caps 3 times daily with food o Children: 2 caps 2 times daily with food o Toddlers: 1 cap 2 times daily - pierce the cap with a sterilized needle and squeeze oil into mouth or onto food.

• Increase the Super Olive Health Dose:

Adults: 4ml (there is a 1 ml mark on the dropper in the bottle) 3 times daily. Children: 2 ml 3 times daily. Toddlers: 1 ml 2 times a day

• Drink one of Dr. Sodhi’s teas 2x a day.

• Argentyn 23: This is Dr. Glidden’s favorite type of silver hydrosol. It is recommended if the lungs become unduly affected by the illness. Do a Web-

Search to purchase it. Put 1 teaspoon into a nebulizer and inhale until gone. Repeat this 4 times daily.

• Homeopathy: Remember – These recommendations are subject to change.

Homeopathic Recommendations as of October 1, 2021

o If a Dry Cough is the presenting symptom, then use Bryonia alba 30C: 2 pellets orally 4x daily until relief sets in, then STOP.

o If your symptoms are noticeably worse starting at or around 4:00 PM, then use Lycopodium clavatum 30C: 2 pellets orally 4x daily until relief sets in, then stop.

o If your chief complaint is Extreme Fatigue and shortness of breath, then use Carbo-vegetabilis 30C: 2 pellets orally 4x daily until relief sets in, then STOP.

o The DOSAGES ABOVE APPLY TO CHILDREN OR ADULTS.

• Constitutional Hydrotherapy – The Full Monty. Do this once a day. You will need help. Do not do this by yourself. This info comes directly from Dr.

Zeff’s website.

The purpose of this treatment is to stimulate a more rapid improvement in health, along with the application of specific dietary therapy and other measures. It is an integral part of most of our treatment protocols, but it has other applications. It can be used whenever there is a fever or febrile illness, or to ward off illness which is beginning to manifest. It is strengthening and healing to the digestive system, helps to normalize circulation, soothes the nervous system, stimulates eliminative and detoxifying processes, and stimulates the vital force. It is a subtle yet powerful treatment with no potential for harm if done according to the following directions, under the order of a qualified naturopathic physician. If one is doing this treatment during chronic illness, a weekly report to the naturopathic physician is mandatory, and no other treatments or medications of any kind should be used without the knowledge and approval of the naturopathic physician.

1. With the patient lying on the back, cover the bared chest and abdomen, from the neck to the pubic bone, with 2-4 thicknesses of terrycloth towel wrung out in hot water tolerable to the touch. Cover the body with a blanket to avoid becoming chilled. Leave the hot towels in place for five minutes.
