letter from the EDITOR
Dear Class of 2025,
Congratulations on making it to this point. What an accomplishment!
It is crazy to think about how fast these four years have passed. It feels like yesterday when we were learning our way around the campus and trying to memorize what the CAC and CCB stood for and so on.
Thinking back to 2021, when we all first arrived at Pepperdine, it was a great feeling to finally be back in person for school and meet others who would spend their college experience with us. While I must admit that this might have been a unique transition into college life for those who completed high school online, Pepperdine truly welcomed us all with open arms and planned numerous NSO events to get us to bond with one another right from the start. The sense of community and belonging has strongly impacted our experiences at Pepperdine University, whether it be involvement in Greek life, sports, study abroad programs, etc. Not only has a strong sense of community been built from participating in extracurricular activities, but Pepperdine has also done a great job planning numerous events, such as Blue and Orange Madness and ReelStories, to bring our students and faculty together uniquely, unlike other universities. The sense of community at Pepperdine has been prevalent throughout our time at this university.

Along with the community, our class has been resilient by overcoming different obstacles these past four years. At the beginning of our college career, the transition into college might have been difficult for some of us, given what we had just experienced. In addition, we, as a campus community, have experienced shared grief. Who would have thought that our campus would make it on the national news because of an intense fire near our campus, forcing us to shelter in place and sleep in the library? These different bumps along the road taught us to lean on one another, stay strong, and genuinely support one another. Something we should all admire is our class’s strength to rise and overcome these difficult situations.
I am so proud of our class for making it here, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. As you reflect on your four years at Pepperdine and look through the 2025 Senior Edition, I hope you remember the sense of community and resilience we have experienced.
with love, CARLY LONG
Dear Class of 2025,
We did it! After four years of hard work and unforgettable memories, we stand at the threshold of a new chapter.
If I had to describe our class in one word, it would be resilient. We have faced tribulations that challenged us — from moments of uncertainty to seasons of grief — and through it all, we stood firm and pressed forward. We have shown up for one another, persevered in times of great trouble and emerged stronger because of it.
What an incredible blessing it is that we came to Pepperdine from all over the world, each with our own backgrounds, stories and dreams. At first, we were strangers, but over time, we became classmates, friends and family. We’ve studied under palm trees, hiked Malibu trails and laughed around beach bonfires. We have learned from one another, grown alongside each other and shaped each other in ways we may not even realize yet. Now, as we step into the world beyond Seaver, we carry with us these bonds that made us who we are and the unforgettable beauty of the place we’ve called home.
Whether we share a lifelong friendship or simply crossed paths in a single class, know that you have left a profound impact on my life. Each of you has shaped this journey in a unique way, and for that, I am truly grateful.
In the long nights and countless hours spent on InDesign creating this memorandum for our class, I have continued to learn about the depth and beauty of each of your lives. As I read the heartfelt memories and words of encouragement within the tributes written by your loved ones, I stand in awe of the deep love and pride your families have for you. Their words reflect not just celebration, but admiration, for the people you’ve become, the journeys you’ve taken and the light you carry into the world.
So step into the unknown with confidence, knowing you are loved, supported and cherished no matter where life takes you.
As you enter this next season of new beginnings, cling to faith. Remember that your worth is not found in titles, salaries or successes. Your true purpose is in your Maker, the One who has called you to something far greater than any position or promotion. True satisfaction can only be found in Him.
My hope is that wherever life takes you, you hold fast to the lessons you learned, the friendships you formed and the faith that has carried you this far. I cannot wait to watch this class change the world. The best is yet to come!

A designated parking area in the Firestone Fieldhouse parking lot (parking lot P) has been set aside for guests with accessibility needs. In addition to the accessible parking, golf carts will be available to transport guests between parking lot P and Alumni Park. Alternatively, you may pull up next to Alumni Park to drop off the guest before parking elsewhere. To minimize potential traffic delays and limited parking, carpooling is recommended. Shuttles will also be in service and available at any marked campus shuttle stop. For more information, please refer to the Parking and Shuttle Information page. Graduation hosts will greet guests as they enter the arena and assist with seating. Please follow the directions of traffic control staff to ensure a smooth arrival.

Enter the stage on the right, present your name card to the name reader, shake hands with the president, exit to the left, and return to your seat. Be aware of the photographers who will take your picture upon receipt of your diploma cover and when you exit the stage.
Following the benediction, the platform party will exit, followed by the graduates, and then the faculty.
Before you leave campus, please deposit your rental gown at the Herff Jones table in Alumni Park. The cap and tassel are yours to keep, as well as the honor cord or sash if you purchased them in advance.

Graduates will be photographed as they receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremony and a posed photo in their regalia by GradImages. Doctoral grads will also be photographed being hooded by their chair. Please use this photography service and ask your guests to remain seated during the ceremony.

The past four years have given us so many opportunities to watch you shine. You have matured and blossomed in ways we never imagined. The greatest blessing of our lives is to be your parents. Your strength inspires us and we are extremely proud of who you are! We love you forever, Mum and Dad
Makenzie Joy,
When you were a Tiny Tyke, you were nearly the first to create human flight without propulsion. In theater, you stole the show. In honors English, you never had homework. In math, refused to be conquered. The Highlands test said you could do everything! Your charm with teachers is still talked about in the hallways of school. If that weren’t enough, you have always been a magnet for high character and spiritually mature friends. There were many tears sending you off to college, but we always knew that “you have what it takes.” As a young lady, you’ve had deep conversations with God. You’ve hiked crazy mountains and seen exotic corners of the world. You’ve discovered more amazing friends and mentors. You’ve proven that you are smart, resilient, and capable. While your health hasn’t always cooperated, it doesn’t define you. You are perfectly made by God. We love you and are privileged to be on this life adventure with you, Dad and Mom

Choosing hard work, excellence, and countless hours in the library have clearly paid dividends! Your family in Indiana is beaming as we celebrate your 4 year collegiate journey. Mom & I, your sister, bro-in-law, grandads, grandmas, aunts, uncles, and cousins join together in CELEBRATING YOU on Graduation Day! We love you Connor!! Can’t forget your spontaneous study break trips to Yosemite National Park, Sedona, and Waikiki Beach! Your achievements include serving on PU’s Ambassadors Council, providing vision and helping launch Waves Worship Songwriting Group, all while volunteering for Student-Led Ministries and New Student Orientation move-in to encourage and welcome new students to campus. You accomplished all this while working off-campus as Front Desk Attendant at Calamigos Guest Ranch & Beach Club, and as a Real Estate Assistant at Pritchett Rapf Realtors (huge thank you to Ms. Sydney Packman & Family). Working on-campus, you worked briefly as Website Marketing Manager for The Pepperdine Beacon, and as Abroad Service Coordinator for International Programs More recently, you worked as Student Project Worker for Pepperdine’s Office of Insurance & Risk, and finally as Creative Assistant for Waves Worship to cap off your senior year. Keep aiming high, keep shooting for the Moon! No matter where you land, you will reach the stars, or have at least achieved out of this world results. As the recent Founder of “Godspeed,” offcampus Running Club, keep honoring God and serving your community by ministering to those in need. Jesus is the ultimate companion for your life’s journey. He certifies your protection and safe arrival at His promised destination (Psalm 23:6). He has pre-determined the narrow path you will travel...upon avenues of safety, wisdom, justice, right living, integrity, and eternal blessings. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) As you begin your career in Accounting, continue to choose to walk in the ways of God. Fear Him, and be like the light of the morning sunrise. SHINE BRIGHT and be courageous in this next chapter of life, Connor!

Just like the biblical Joshua, you’ve shown courage, faith, humility, and a heart for others—we’re so grateful to see those qualities in you. We love you so much! Nelson, Lorna, Matthew, Alexandra and Zachary

Radiant and independent from the day you were born, you have boldly and passionately blazed your own trail, singing and dancing along the way. Destined to be a change agent, you have slipped your moorings in the safe harbor and have bravely set out to make your mark. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish! We will forever cheer you on! Let your light shine! (Mt. 5:16) Love, Mommy & Daddy

It is a joy to celebrate you and all of your accomplishments at Pepperdine: the philosophies, theories, human history, and languages you thoughtfully studied, research papers you wrote and presented, your amazing adventures in Japan, exploring the Malibu coastline while surfing, working as a TA, continuing musical explorations, and the wonderful friendships you developed. You’ve grown so much navigating college while also prioritizing your relationships with family, Melis, and friends. Well done! We are so proud of you and the person you have become!
