Each of our centres has its own unique style and feel. They are filled with purpose built activities and equipment – the perfect setting for quality family time and adventure.

There’s adventure. With our professionally trained team taking care of everything (so you don’t have to) smaller family groups and more activities than you can imagine, everyone has more time doing the things they came to do.

There’s variety. We have a range of centres across the UK and France to choose from including our traditional ‘free range’ countryside camps, waterside retreats, woodland centres or even traditional French châteaux.

There’s comfort. From chalets overlooking the sea and woodland log cabins to traditional mansion houses and tented villages, all of our accommodation is simple and comfortable with en-suite or nearby bathrooms.

There’s good food. All our meals are freshly cooked and accompanied by generous portions of fruit, vegetables and salad. Perfect for refuelling after a busy day.

Multi Activity The original and still the best Multi Activity holidays are the most popular choice amongst our families and it’s clear to see why! We’ve been perfecting our approach since 1957 and have found the perfect balance of adventurous activities, challenge and good, old-fashioned family fun.

Daytime activities – the most important part of the holiday!

‘Multi Activity’ is about packing in lots of different activities to make the most out of your holiday. Each activity has a family focus, whether that’s working as a team or conquering your fears together, they all give a great sense of personal achievement and help build close family bonds. Most centres have more activities than can be completed in a single holiday!

The fun doesn't stop after your day time activities. We also take care of your evenings with our fantastic programme of evening entertainment or 'ents' as it's known at our centres. Evening ents range from family quiz nights to camp fires, discos and much more.

Barton Hall has everything you need for a fun, stress-free holiday! There are 22 amazing activities set around the central pool and sun terrace as well as the on-site shop, bar, dining room and ‘chill out zone’. Being so compact, you can always see plenty going on, giving Barton Hall a really safe and lively atmosphere.

Unique to Barton Hall we offer ‘Flexi Sessions’. These are daily breaks in your activity schedule that allow you to really personalise your holiday to your family. Take the time to relax by the pool, pop out locally or join in with an extra activity on offer, the choice is yours!

At Little Canada, woodland meets water at our charming centre, tucked away on the Isle of Wight. Right on the water’s edge at Wootton Creek, it provides an ideal location for families looking to try some water-based activities with an ample mix of classic PGL activities on land as well.

All facilities including the ‘Mounties Retreat’ bar and shop are located at the heart of the centre surrounded by our wooden cabins, with all the land-based activities nestled in the 48 acres of surrounding woodland.

Liddington is one of our newest and most modern centres, offering an outstanding combination of comfort, facilities and activities.

This spacious centre boasts landscaped lakes for water-based activities, beautiful woodland and all-weather flood-lit sports pitches and a huge variety of multi activities. If, after a full day of activities you still want to work up a sweat, then our mini-gym is available daily or take advantage of the spacious lounge, bar and modern dining facilities to relax in the evenings. There is also a large indoor space for evening entertainment.

Families staying for 7 nights can use their ‘free day’ to take advantage of the many local attractions in and around Swindon.

Boreatton Park is our largest centre! It has 240 acres of beautiful, wooded grounds providing the perfect space for an active, short break.

There’s everything you need here, within the endless woodland, three lakes and river bordering the grounds. There are over 20 activities that your family can try including a huge zip wire across a lake, a sandstone abseil cliff and a huge high ropes course.

There are also plenty of all-weather facilities, including a huge ‘Activity Barn’ with an indoor climbing wall, space for ball sports, fencing and a multipurpose chill out area. The on-site bar also offers the perfect place to retreat and relax at the end of a busy day.

At the heart of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, Osmington Bay occupies a private cliff top location with breathtaking views of Weymouth, Portland and Chesil Beach.

Ideal for families who’d like to try out more water-based activities, which take place at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the location for the 2012 Olympic sailing events, is just a short drive away.

There are plenty of land-based multi activities to try your hand at too, including trapeze, survivor and a fantastic giant swing with amazing views over the coast!

Some of the activities take place in our activity zone which includes our huge climbing wall, on-site shop, bar and lounge, games machines, table tennis and pool tables.

Perthshire

Set on the edge of the Craigvinean Forest overlooking the River Tay, this small, friendly centre is the former summer home of Beatrix Potter! Walled by the ‘Big Tree Country’, Dalguise is perfect for families looking to get away for a true Highland adventure.

Almost all activities take place in the surrounding forest including a huge double zip wire and a 75ft tree climb which is exclusive to Dalguise. The purpose built lake offers access to water activities including canoeing and raft building. Plus scenic mountain bike tracks which run around the centre are ideal for families who are up for a bit of a challenge!

After a full day of activities you can choose to head to the local town of Dunkeld (10 minute drive) where you’ll find local pubs, small shops and a beautiful cathedral.

Ride the Ard che Rapids Domaine de Segries, South of France

Combine a fun three day canoe descent of the world famous Ardèche River with a healthy mix of adventurous activities and chill-out time at our beautiful centre, Domaine de Segries. An amazing and unforgettable experience.

Ideal for those who have never even stepped into a canoe before, this holiday breaks up the traditional Ardèche descent into three bite-sized chunks, meaning plenty of time to build your confidence on the river. Enjoy paddling through the gorges of the Ardèche, under the famous Pont d’Arc, a 60m high natural rock arch and tackle the white water rapids! Stop for leisurely picnic lunches and enjoy a swim in the sunshine.

After each day canoeing we’ll take you back to our beautiful woodland centre where we have a swimming pool, sports pitches, bar and a range of activities including Jacob’s ladder, trapeze and mountain biking.

This centre offers two types of bunk bedded accommodation. Chalet A: two bedroomed chalets with a small lounge/ kitchen area and bathroom and sleeps a minimum of four people (maximum six people).

Classic Ard che Experience Lou Valagran, South of France

Try out a more traditional Ardèche River descent, completed back-to-back over two days by canoe, with an overnight ‘back to nature’ riverside bivouac in between.

Then try out a range of exciting on-site activities from our Multi Activity programme.

A perfect combination for adventurous families!

Enjoy beautiful scenery and the thrill of the rapids as you paddle the Ardèche River. The highlight of this holiday has got to be the overnight bivouac (or ‘bivi’), sleeping under the stars in the middle of the nature reserve.

You will also have two or three full days of activities at our relaxed, riverside centre and a free day to unwind and discover the stunning local area.

Lou Valagran, your base for the holiday, has its own riverbank beach and is bordered by vineyards and the River Cèze, it’s a beautiful setting! It offers an open dining area, central chill out area with table tennis and basketball hoop and a small on-site bar and shop.

Accommodation is simple ‘cabin’ style camping in wooden, one room cabins.

There are two types of cabins with bunk beds – ‘family cabins’ for up to six people, or separate ‘adult and child cabins’ for two

Essential information What’s the accommodation like?

Do I need to bring my own bedding?

Our accommodation is clean and functional rather than luxurious. Most rooms have bunk beds.

Bedding is supplied (with the exception of tents at Domaine de Segries and on the overnight bivouac at Lou Valagran, where you'll need sleeping bags and a pillow). You need to bring your own towels.

Rooms are en-suite. You will not have to share a bathroom with another family, with the exception of the campsite at Boreatton Park, cabins at Lou Valagran and the tented village at Domaine de Segries. All tented/cabin accommodation has shower/ toilet blocks for the exclusive use of family guests.

We offer a choice of rooms for smaller families with no under occupancy charges. Where these are not available an additional supplement may apply, depending on room type and family size.

What kind of food can I expect on a PGL holiday?

We’ve worked closely with leading catering organisations to develop a simple, balanced menu, where even the fussiest eater should still feel comfortable – particularly after a busy day of activities. We provide three healthy, high energy meals per day that support the 5-a-day campaign and reduce added salt, sugar and fat where possible. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will usually be available in our self-service, canteen style dining rooms, although at some centres there may be an occasional evening barbeque.

We accommodate most diets, and meals will always include a vegetarian option. At overseas

centres a glass of wine will be available for parents to enjoy with their evening meal (drinks will also be available to purchase and we will always try to provide a taste of local cuisine whenever possible).

Tea and coffee are available throughout the day at the centres whether that be in the lounge or dining areas or available to purchase at the bar. At some centres, tea and coffee making facilities are provided in your room.

What time can I check in/out?

Check-in time on a seven night holiday is usually between 4-6pm and guests will usually need to check out of their rooms between 9-11am on the day of departure (times may differ for shorter breaks depending on centre).

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Once we have checked availability we will take a non-refundable deposit paid by credit/debit card in order to secure your places.

Under fives are welcome, and now travel for free on Multi Activity holidays, but will not be able to take part in many activities. Five and six year olds will be able to participate in most activities subject to assessment by PGL instructors. We regret that we are unable to provide a child care service for children not taking part in activities. Baby equipment, including highchairs, are available at some centres – please ask at time of booking.

Will there be anyone other than families at the centre whilst I’m there?

• £40 per family member for UK holidays of three nights or less.

• £60 per family member for UK holidays of four nights or more.

• £80 per family member for French holidays.

The full balance will be payable 12 weeks prior to departure as detailed in your confirmation.

Please note we reserve the right to charge an administration fee of £25 per amendment for changing arrangements previously agreed to, including travel changes.

There may be some other children or groups at the centre whilst you are there. These guests are supervised by PGL staff and will have a separate activity programme, and will usually have separate accommodation and social facilities.

PGL camp kit for children We have been operating children’s activity holidays for 60 years and found that the following items are useful and practical for PGL holidays.

Pre-order our camp kit pack when you make your booking and it will be ready for collection on arrival.

Definitions and features

It is important that everyone travelling with PGL has holiday insurance. Experience has shown that standard policies do not cover all our activities, e.g. motorsports, abseiling and rifle shooting. For your protection, therefore, we have arranged a special policy with Union Reiseversicherung AG. PGL insurance includes the following benefits as long as claims fall within the terms and conditions of the policy: • Cover for all activities organised by PGL • Personal accident up to £25,000 • Medical and other expenses up to £5 million for overseas holidays and up to £10,000 (other expenses only) for the UK • Cancellation charges up to £5000 (£1,000 UK trips) • Luggage up to £1,500. Single item £250.

Valuables limit £250 • Personal money up to £500 (£200 for under 18s) • Personal liability up to £1 million • Curtailment of activities at £20 per day (up to a maximum of £240) Full details of our insurance cover can be found on our website or can be sent to you upon request.

Please note that cancellation cover comes into force when you pay the appropriate premiums.

Some of the above sections are subject to £50 (£35 UK) excess (up to £250 excess for legal expenses). Please read the Key Insurance Points statement that follows.

Clients not purchasing our insurance will be asked to complete an Insurance Indemnity Form issued on the advice of ABTA.

We would like to explain some of the definitions and features of our insurance cover for you.

Cooling Off Period Your policy contains a 14 day cooling off period, during which you can cancel the policy and get a refund, if you have a justifiable reason for being dissatisfied with the cover it provides.

Pre-existing Health Conditions If any participant, or any other person on whom the travel plans depend (eg. close relative) who is over 18, has ever had treatment for any heart condition or circulatory condition, a stroke or high blood pressure, any breathing condition (including asthma), any type of cancer, any type of diabetes, any psychological condition, any existing injury or other serious recurring medical condition, any condition requiring long-term, prescribed medication or if you or they are receiving or awaiting investigation for any medical condition, you must advise the insurers directly to see if additional cover is available. Insurers reserve the right to impose terms. You will receive confirmation in writing of their decision.

Conditions, Exclusions & Terms Conditions and exclusions will apply to individual sections of your policy while general exclusions, conditions and terms will apply to the whole policy.

Property Claims These claims are paid based on the value of the goods at the time you lose them and not on a “new for old” or replacement cost basis.

Policy Limits Most sections of the policy have limits on the amount the insurer will pay under that section. Some sections also include other specific limits, for example for any

Please take the time to read the following terms and conditions carefully. They are the basis of the contract between yourself and PGL. A contract will exist between us when we have taken your booking and required payment. You will then automatically receive a confirmation invoice detailing exactly what has been booked. If you think anything is incorrect please contact us straight away. All correspondence will be with the person named on the confirmation invoice who accepts the following conditions on behalf of all participants. The contract between us is governed by English Law and any dispute will be dealt with under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Any monies paid to an appointed agent will be held by the agent for PGL until they are paid over to PGL. Your final payment The balance of your account is payable no later than 12 weeks before holiday commencement. If payment is not made by the due date, we reserve the right to advise you of the cancellation of your holiday booking and make a cancellation charge at the appropriate rate. Full payment must accompany bookings made within 12 weeks of departure.

The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 require us to provide security for the monies that you pay for the holiday booked from this brochure and for your repatriation in the event of our insolvency. We provide this security by way of a bond held

by ABTA.

If we are forced to make changes

Changing your booking or travel

If we have to make a major change to your holiday, we will offer a suitable alternative if available, or 100% refund, if we are not able, in our opinion, to offer an alternative that is sufficiently comparable. Compensation will be paid as detailed right if we have to make a major change to your holiday within 8 weeks of holiday commencement, unless the change is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to war, riot, civil commotion, act of God, industrial dispute, Government action, epidemic, disease, adverse weather or natural disaster.

If, after you have confirmed your booking, you wish to make any alterations, an administration charge of £25 will be made per amendment. Any such amendment may be telephoned to PGL in the first instance but must be confirmed in writing or by emailing families@pgl.co.uk immediately thereafter immediately thereafter with the appropriate amount paid. However, if a major amendment is requested less than 8 weeks prior to the starting date of the holiday, we reserve the right to treat your request as a cancellation and charge the appropriate cancellation fee as detailed below. In order that all our staff have the correct information we cannot accept additions or alterations to coach/ ferry travel arrangements within 7 days of the commencement of the holiday.

Policy Excesses Under some sections of the policy claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of the claim. The amount you have to pay is called the excess.

Reasonable Care You need to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property, as if you were uninsured, otherwise your claim may be refused.

Complaints The insurance policy includes a Complaints Procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.

Dangerous Sports or Pastimes If you are going to take part in dangerous sports or pastimes where there is a risk of injury, check that your policy covers you. All activities officially organised and implemented by PGL are covered.

Policy Document This gives full details of what is not covered and conditions of the cover. A copy will be sent on booking, or earlier on request.

Law The Insurance Policy will be subject to the law of England and Wales unless otherwise agreed.

Please ensure you read your insurance policy carefully. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the policy may result in cover being restricted.

PGL is an Appointed Representative of Fogg Travel Insurance Services Limited who with the Insurers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

PGL will do its utmost to provide all of the arrangements that have been confirmed, but must reserve the right to alter or cancel any activities, accommodation or other arrangements, including PGL Escorted Travel, if operational, weather or other considerations so dictate.

More information

The price of your holiday is subject to surcharge due to unforeseen increases in fuel costs, Government imposed increases e.g. changes in VAT or adverse currency exchange rate variations. Even in this case, we will absorb an amount equivalent to 2% of the holiday price which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. Only amounts in excess of this 2% will be surcharged but, where a surcharge is payable, there will be an administration charge of £1 together with an amount to cover agents’ commission where relevant.

If this means paying more than 10% of the holiday price, you will be entitled to cancel your holiday with a full refund of all money paid except for any premium paid to us for holiday insurance and amendment charges.

Should you decide to cancel because of this, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on the surcharge advice. The prices of our holidays abroad have been fixed according to an exchange rate of 1.16 Euros to £1 as published in the Financial Times on 21 November 2016. You will be notified 8 weeks before departure if a surcharge is due on your holiday.

Cancelling your holiday or travel If you find that you cannot take your PGL holiday and have to cancel, for whatever reason, your deposit will be forfeited to cover our costs. If we receive your written cancellation within 56 days of your holiday commencement date, higher cancellation charges will be made, as follows: 56 to 29 days prior to commencement – 30% of the total holiday price 28 to 15 days prior to commencement – 45% of the total holiday price 14 to 1 days prior to commencement – 100% of the total holiday price On or after the commencement date – 100% of the total holiday price The date of effective cancellation is calculated on the day of receipt of written or emailed advice (families@pgl.co.uk) in our Reservations Department.

Your PGL holiday insurance may cover the cost of cancellation. If in doubt don’t hesitate to contact our brokers, Fogg Travel Insurance Services, on 01623 631 331.

Any complaints?

If there is any problem with the holiday, we want to hear about this as soon as possible. Any concerns should be brought to the attention of the Centre Manager/senior member of staff immediately and we will do our utmost to put things right for you. Please note that we are not responsible for any issue, which you were aware of but did not bring to our attention during your holiday. Any reported issue, which has not been resolved to your satisfaction during your holiday, should be advised in writing to PGL within 28 days of the end of your holiday.

If you are still unhappy, your complaint may be referred to arbitration under a special scheme arranged by the Association of British Travel Agents in conjunction with the Institute of Arbitrators. This scheme provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone, with restricted liability on a customer in respect of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking form. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness or the consequences of such injury or illness. The scheme can however deal with compensation claims involving minor injury or illness, subject to a limit of £1,000

per person. Application for arbitration must be made within 9 months of return from holiday. Further details can be supplied by ABTA on request. Their address is: 30 Park Street, London SE1 9EQ. Our responsibility PGL accepts responsibility for those elements of the holiday arrangements which are under our direct control, and for the acts and/or omissions of our employees, agents, sub-contractors and suppliers. Save as set out below, no liability is accepted for personal illness, injury or death.

We do accept responsibility for any personal illness, injury or death which results from the negligent (as the word is understood in the English Law) acts or omissions of any servant or agent, or any supplier, working on our behalf in the provision of services or facilities to you and whilst acting within the scope of their employment.

Please note that we do not accept liability for any air or sea carriers whose individual conditions of carriage apply and are often subject to international agreements. We cannot be held responsible for the failure or inability of any equipment or computer programme to recognise or correctly interpret or process any date as the true or correct date, or to continue to function correctly beyond that date.

We cannot be held responsible for the loss of enjoyment or additional expenses due to delays or changes in any travel arrangements or other services which are caused by circumstances amounting to force majeure, such as, but not limited to war, riot, civil commotion, act of God, Government action, epidemic, disease, natural disaster, industrial dispute or adverse weather conditions. We can only be liable for the provision of special requests where we have confirmed their availability in writing.

Should you or any member of your party have the misfortune to suffer illness, injury or death during the period of your holiday, arising out of an activity which does not form part of the arrangements made by us, we shall, where appropriate, and subject to our reasonable discretion and prior agreement, give you and your family every help that we can by way of initial assistance, including initial legal costs associated there with, up to a maximum value of £5,000 per booking. You must request such assistance within 90 days from the date of the misadventure and in the event of there being a successful claim for costs against a third party or there being suitable insurance policies in force, the costs incurred by PGL shall be recoverable from yourselves.

We shall not be liable in respect of any loss of profits, damage to goodwill or any type of special, indirect or consequential loss even if such loss was reasonably foreseeable or we have been advised of the possibility of you incurring the same. Subject to the above, and excluding liability for death or personal injury, our liability shall be limited to £15,000 pounds sterling in respect to any one claim.

Your responsibility It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to fully advise PGL of any disabilities, social or behavioural problems that a member of the party currently has, or has recently experienced, which might affect them or other guests during the holiday. We will be pleased to advise you whether we have the staff and facilities to provide an appropriate holiday in these circumstances, with particular reference to such considerations as access, successful participation and health and safety.

The person making the booking also accepts responsibility for advising PGL of dietary requirements and swimming ability of all members of the party. We reserve the right to exclude any person after holiday

commencement if his/her behaviour is incompatible with the general enjoyment and wellbeing of others. The person making the booking accepts responsibility for any repatriation costs incurred together with any additional costs incurred at the centre.

For overseas holidays, please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that all members of the party are in possession of a 5 or 10 year passport and a European Health Insurance Card. ABTA PGL Travel Ltd is a Member of ABTA with membership number V2683. ABTA and ABTA Members help holidaymakers to get the most from their travel and assist them when things do not go according to plan. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct.

For bookings to UK centres and to overseas centres by coach, PGL Travel Ltd holds a bond with ABTA. This arrangement means your money will be refunded or you will be brought back to the UK (where your contracted arrangements include return travel to the UK) if already abroad in the unlikely event of us being unable to provide your holiday due to our insolvency.

Personal property Your personal property, including baggage, is your own responsibility at all times, unless any loss or damage is due to our negligence or failure to carry out our responsibility. Please note that an adventure holiday is not the place to bring mobile phones, expensive watches, jewellery or other precious items which may not be covered by the PGL insurance.

Photography We regularly take photographs and videos for promotional and training purposes. If you do not want any member of your family to appear in these, you must write to PGL Customer Service and inform PGL staff on arrival at the centre.

Data Protection The personal information requested at the time of booking and on subsequent proformas is held on computer and required to allow our employees, agents, sub-contractors and suppliers to provide the promised holiday to our normal high standards. By providing us with the information required for booking you are deemed to accept the above and to have gained consent from all members of your party to disclose their details to us. At the time of booking or requesting a brochure, whichever is sooner you will be asked if you wish to receive future mailings from PGL and/ or carefully selected third parties. If you do not wish to receive these mailings, please advise at the time.
