Diabetes Prevention Program at Beaver County Y promises “measurable progress and unlimited support” By Gina Mazza For Beaver County Senior News More than 29 million people in the United States—about one out of every 11 individuals—have diabetes, and another 86 million—that’s more than one out of three— have prediabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). These statistics may sound daunting but the good news is that diabetes can be delayed, managed and even prevented through healthy eating and regular physical activity. That’s the goal behind a Diabetes Prevention Program being offered at the Beaver County YMCA in
New Brighton, along with Y’s across the country. The lifestyle program promises “measurable progress with unlimited support” for adults who are at high risk for developing Type II diabetes from being overweight or having to deal with heart disease, stroke, 2016 King Features Syndicate, Inc.
