1 This editorial is about the sculputure I, Peytan Ferris, created. I have been in the design field for 2 years now, so when I thought about what word I wanted to use, one specific word came to mind. Since this career is all about creativity and pivital moments and design aspects the word ‘epiphany’ seemed to be the perfect word for this project. I invite you to watch my creative process and further understand the meaning of my piece.

Design
I did several drawing of the word and the dot above the ‘i’ before deciding on a final.
Process
I decided my sculpture should be mostly open in the sides instead of closed to represent the freedom an epiphany gives.
Epiphany
This sculputure was created based on my love for the meaning of the word epiphany. The word epiphany means to have a sudden realization. I love this word so much because you can have an epiphany anywhere about anything. Your epiphany can be small or large, but it is always significant. I chose the intricate curly font because I feel the an epiphany is such an intricate feeling. The ‘I’ in the word is the only one standing up as if the word itself is having an epiphany. The flower in the sculputure comes from a song by the Kpop group BTS. The song by the same name of the sculpture talks about a person’s epiphany in self love and how yourself love is a flower and you decide wether that flower blossoms or wilts and dies. I like this because we all seem to forget how important self care and love is and we need to be reminded how important and worth it is to have.

This semester has really started to open my eyes and make me have my own little epiphanys. Especially when it comes to me being successful in this career field. Before having this class I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to make it in this industry, but this class has definatley caused me to have many epiphanys about how capable and how much passion I have for this field and I think it’s really amazing how such a medial thing can change your whole perspective on such a big aspect of your current life. That’s what I wanted my sculpture to represent. With that I hope everyone gets to have a little epiphany or a big one because they truly change your outlook. You’re the one you should love, never forget that.
