Because of you, more pets found loving homes, more families received the support they needed, and more people and pets stayed together through challenging times. Thank you for standing with PetSmart Charities of Canada to make this possible. In this report, you’ll see the many ways donors like you helped make life better for pets and people in 2025. Whether your donation to PetSmart Charities of Canada was made at a store register, online or arrived by mail, your generosity made a difference in communities across the nation. Grants from PetSmart Charities of Canada fund programs to connect pets and people through adoption, and support pets and people with programs to help them stay in those homes. Let’s take inspiration from just a few moments and milestones fueled by your dollars at work: Adoption Too many pets across Canada are still staying in shelters and rescues for too long. That’s why growing the in-store adoption program in PetSmart stores remained a key focus in 2025, so more pets could find the loving homes they deserve. Not only did adoptions increase by 11% year over year, but over 22,000 pets found people to love at PetSmart stores in 2025 — the highest number since the pandemic. We can all find joy in that kind of impact! Accessible Veterinary Care PetSmart Charities of Canada invested in research with the experts at Gallup to get a pulse on how pet parents and veterinarians are experiencing the rising costs of veterinary care. With 50% of pet parents skipping or deferring veterinary care due to costs, both sets agreed financial concerns are the top barrier. Funding for low-cost clinics and other innovative programs helped get more pets to the vet in 2025. Pet Hunger Support from PetSmart Charities of Canada helps people in need gain access to pet food. In 2025, we marked our annual observance of Pet Hunger Awareness Day® by providing The Food Bank of York Region with $100,000 in grant funding to increase the availability of pet food at area food banks. With the support, food banks in the region will deliver nutritious meals for the whole family – including pets. Disaster Response In response to the unprecedented wildfires across Canada in 2025, PetSmart Charities of Canada distributed $150,000 in emergency funding to support affected pets and people. Twelve animal welfare organizations, from British Columbia to Newfoundland, received critical support to respond on the ground and care for communities in crisis. Treats Rewards loyalty members also played an important role, donating more than $7,700 in points to strengthen these disaster response efforts. None of this would be possible without your commitment to uplifting the human-animal bond. Together, we made an impact For Pets. For People. For Good.

IMPACT across the country NATIONWIDE IMPACT From disaster response and pet hunger relief to life-changing adoptions, these hearts represent the nationwide impact made possible through your support. In 2025, that impact reached even further as PetSmart Charities of Canada helped connect more than 22,000 pets with loving families, giving thousands of animals the chance to start a new chapter in a loving home.
EXPANDING ACCESS Pets are family, but for many, getting them the care they need isn’t always easy. In fact, our 2025 PetSmart Charities of Canada-Gallup State of Pet Care study found that 50% of Canadian pet parents have skipped or declined recommended veterinary care. In 2025, we welcomed a seventh grantee into our Incubator grant program, expanding support for community-driven veterinary care solutions across Canada. Through our work to expand access to veterinary care, we’re helping remove barriers like cost and availability so more pets can stay healthy, and more families can stay together.

ACCESS TO VETERINARY CARE
State of Pet Care
research
When Kelsey’s two-year-old cat, Tana, became lethargic and stopped eating, she knew something was terribly wrong. In the middle of the night, she rushed Tana to an emergency veterinary clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The diagnosis was devastating: Tana had eaten a fake plant, causing a dangerous stomach obstruction. After paying $1,000 for an x-ray, Kelsey was told surgery would cost an additional $6,000. She felt hopeless. Tana was family, but the cost of care was more than she could afford.
The emergency clinic referred her to Tartan Tails, an access to veterinary care grantee funded by PetSmart Charities of Canada. Knowing Tana urgently needed help, the team asked Kelsey to bring her in right away. Thanks to their accessible care clinic, Tartan Tails was 08

able to offer flexible payment options that made life-saving surgery possible. “It was the biggest relief,” said Kelsey. Sadly, Kelsey’s story is not unique. PetSmart Charities of Canada estimates millions of Canadians struggle to get access to the veterinary care their pets need. To assess the scope of the crisis, we commissioned the analytics experts at Gallup to launch the State of Pet Care research – a series of first-of-its kind studies asking Canadian pet parents and veterinarians how they’re experiencing veterinary care and any related barriers. This data will help us continue making meaningful investments through our grant funding and influence the evolution of veterinary care to achieve more affordable, flexible and accessible options that meet the needs of pet parents, so families like Kelsey’s can access care for their beloved pets.
ACCESS TO VETERINARY CARE
Veterinarians without borders
Thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada, Veterinarians Without Borders (VWB) is supporting expanded access to veterinary care in some of Canada’s most Northern communities. Across the Arctic, many communities have limited or no year-round veterinary services. With support from PetSmart Charities of Canada, VWB partnered with communities, territorial partners and local governments to co-create and pilot a Community Animal Health Worker (CAHW) program that provides training to local residents on basic animal care, disease prevention, and education within their communities. The program has already trained 11 CAHWs across three Arctic communities, strengthening local capacity and improving access to care for animals and their families. The impact is already visible in communities like Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
During a recent wellness clinic, a dog guardian named Marsha brought her dogs, Coco and Paws, for their annual vaccines. A passionate dog advocate, Marsha shared how helpful VWB’s telehealth service had been when one of her dogs suffered a small leg wound. Inspired to do more, Marsha later completed the CAHW training and is now one of five trained Community Animal Health Workers in Tuktoyaktuk. Today, Marsha helps vaccinate dogs against preventable diseases such as rabies, which is especially important in a region where rabies is present in Arctic fox populations. With access to a first-aid kit and guidance from VWB’s Northern Veterinary Specialist, Marsha and her fellow CAHWs can now help animals in their community receive care closer to home. Over the grant period, VWB delivered 13 veterinary clinics in participating communities, providing 789 patient visits and vaccinating more than 700 animals against preventable diseases. By investing in community leadership and local solutions, PetSmart Charities of Canada is helping create healthier animals, safer communities, and stronger access to care in the North.

DISASTER RESPONSE
Wildfire Support DISASTER RESPONSE FUNDING SUPPORTED PARTNERS ACROSS CANADA
Canada’s 2025 wildfire season was one of the most severe in the country’s history. More than 6,000 wildfires burned in nearly every province and territory, scorching over 8.3 million hectares of land and forcing more than 85,000 people to evacuate their homes, including many from First Nations communities. In response to the scale of the crisis, PetSmart Charities of Canada increased its disaster response funding for organizations helping pets and families impacted by the wildfires from an initial $100,000

to $150,000. This funding helped provide critical resources for 12 animal welfare organizations from British Columbia to Newfoundland with emergency sheltering, pet supplies, veterinary care, and transportation so pets and families could find safety and recover from the wildfire events. When disasters strike, pets are often among the most vulnerable. By increasing support during the 2025 wildfire season, PetSmart Charities of Canada helped ensure that more families were supported during evacuations and begin the process of recovery with their pets by their side.
PET HUNGER AWARENESS
Preventing Pet Hunger Thanks to a $100,000 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada, more families can keep their beloved pets fed during difficult times. As food bank use continues to rise across the country, many families face an impossible choice: feed themselves or feed their pets. Recognizing that pets are family, PetSmart Charities of Canada partnered with Feed Ontario and the Food Bank of York Region to ensure that support reaches every member of the household. This funding is helping
keep pet food in stock at Food Bank of York Region, which acts as a distribution hub for local food banks in the area. Supplying pet food alongside essential groceries helps provide resources that keep pets in their homes where they belong. The grant announcement coincided with Pet Hunger Awareness Day, a national initiative created byPetSmart Charities of Canada to shine a light on a growing but often unseen need. The day brought together partners, volunteers, and community members to recognize the vital role pets play in people’s lives and highlight the importance of supporting them together. For many, pets provide comfort, stability, and companionship during life’s hardest moments. With more than 12 million Canadian households sharing their lives with a pet, the impact of this work reaches far beyond a single meal. By supporting community partnerships and raising awareness, PetSmart Charities of Canada is helping ensure that no two-or four-legged family member goes hungry. Rabbits make wonderful companions, yet they often spend a long time in shelters before being adopted. Thanks to PetSmart Charities of Canada’s grant funding, more of these gentle pets are finding families faster than ever. By partnering with local animal welfare organizations and even turning one adoption centre into a ‘Rabbitat’ to showcase adoptable bunnies, we have created greater visibility and opportunity for connection. The impact has been remarkable. Rabbit adoptions in stores increased 107% year over year. In 2025 alone, 195 rabbits found loving homes through PetSmart stores across Canada. According to Toronto Animal Services, one PetSmart Charities of Canada’s adoption partners, the average length of stay for bunnies in the shelter is a month or longer. In PetSmart stores, rabbits spend an average of just four days before being adopted. Together, we are shortening shelter stays, easing overcrowding, and giving more rabbits the fresh start they deserve, so even the smallest paws can find loving homes.

In-Store Adoption Success EXPANDING IMPACT IN STORES
Across Canada, thousands of pets are waiting for the chance to find a loving home. Thanks to strong partnerships between local shelters and rescues, PetSmart stores, and generous supporters, more of those pets are finding families faster than ever. Dogwood Animal Rescue (formerly Dorset Rescue Kittens) in Ontario is one example of how collaboration and innovation can transform the adoption journey. This volunteer- and foster-based organization partners closely with PetSmart Charities of Canada and the South Guelph PetSmart store, where nearly 90% of their adoptions take place. Like many rescues, Dorset Rescue Kittens once faced a common challenge. Potential adopters shared that lengthy adoption processes, sometimes taking one to two weeks or longer, could feel discouraging. With support from PetSmart Charities of Canada, the organization took a fresh look at their process. By simplifying steps and reducing unnecessary barriers, they redesigned their approach to make adoption more equitable, efficient, and enjoyable for families.

The results were meaningful: what once took more than a week can now be completed in just one to two days. Pets spend less time waiting, and adopters can welcome their new companions home sooner. This change is helping more pets find the families they deserve. In just one year, Dorset Rescue Kittens grew adoptions through their PetSmart partnership by 12%, all while reducing the length of stay for pets and improving the experience for adopters. PetSmart and its pet-passionate associates and customers come together year-round to provide critical funding and support that powers PetSmart Charities of Canada’s lifesaving work for pets and the people who love them. The PetSmart community is special because it brings people together around the shared joy of pets. In 2025, millions of generous supporters from this community donated to PetSmart Charities of Canada while shopping on PetSmart. ca, through PIN pad donations at in-store checkout and by donating Treats Rewards points. Those donations were passed directly to PetSmart Charities of Canada to support its mission. PetSmart created new opportunities for pet parents to support the good work of PetSmart Charities of Canada in 2025. Throughout the year, PetSmart asked pet parents to help respond to the challenges facing pets and their

PetSmart’s Treats Rewards loyalty members stepped up and donated more than $87,000 in points to PetSmart Charities of Canada to support these programs across the country. Additionally, PetSmart’s expanded, year-round Chance & Friends program offered new stuffed plush animals and 10% of every purchase was donated to PetSmart Charities of Canada. These proceeds help local animal shelters, rescues and animal welfare partners continue their lifesaving work. Beyond these donations, PetSmart continues to make its stores the best places to find a new pet companion through adoption. From donating Adoption Centre space in stores to hosting National Adoption Week events three times throughout the year, together we’re helping more than 20,000 pets each year find families to love.
