Because of you, more pets found loving homes, more families received the support they needed, and more people and pets stayed together through challenging times. Thank you for standing with PetSmart Charities to make this possible. In this report, you’ll see the many ways donors like you helped make life better for pets and people in 2025. Whether your donation to PetSmart Charities was made at a store register, online or arrived by mail, your generosity made a difference in communities across the nation.
Grants from PetSmart Charities fund programs to connect pets and people through adoption, and support pets and people with programs to help them stay in those homes. Let’s take inspiration from just a few moments and milestones fueled by your dollars at work: Adoption Too many pets, especially large dogs, are still staying in shelters for too long. In response, PetSmart Charities created the Adopt Joy® program, monthly adoption events at select stores across the nation. And 395,135 pets found people to love at in-store adoption events in 2025 — the highest number since the pandemic. We can all find joy in that kind of impact! Accessible Veterinary Care PetSmart Charities invested in research with the experts at Gallup to get a pulse on how pet parents and veterinarians are experiencing the rising costs of veterinary care. With 52% of pet parents skipping or deferring veterinary care due to costs, both sets agreed financial concerns are the top barrier. Funding for low-cost clinics and other innovative programs helped get more pets to the vet in 2025. Pet Hunger In partnership with human service nonprofits Meals on Wheels America® and Feeding America™, support from PetSmart Charities helps people in need gain access to pet food. In 2025, a lifetime milestone of 420 million pet meals was crossed, and during our annual observance of the Pet Hunger Awareness Day® campaign. U.S. stores raised $3.6 million to continue this critical support for pets and people in 2025. Disaster Response In efforts to keep pets and people together during crises, an in-store fundraising campaign for the California wildfires in early 2025 broke records, raising $330,000 for animal welfare partners in impacted regions. And, with the support of Treats Rewards loyalty members, more than $100,000 in points were donated to partners impacted by flooding in Texas. IMPACT across the country NATIONWIDE IMPACT Together with your support, in 2025 we grew in pet adoptions by 20 percent, kept families together through disaster relief efforts and helped fill bowls for family pets facing pet hunger. These hearts show the nationwide impact of our grants thanks to your support.
EXPANDING ACCESS Pets are family, but for many, getting them the care they need isn’t always easy. In fact, 52% of U.S. pet parents have skipped or declined recommended veterinary care. Through our work to expand access to veterinary care, we’re helping remove barriers like cost and availability so more pets can stay healthy, and more families can stay together. ACCESS TO VETERINARY CARE
Access to Veterinary Care – Natora and Lucky
Just two weeks after adopting Lucky, Natora knew something was wrong. He cried in pain and drooled constantly. A veterinarian diagnosed him with stomatitis and recommended a full dental extraction, costing nearly $3,000. Having just purchased a home, Natora couldn’t afford the surgery. Faced with an impossible decision, she considered surrendering Lucky so he could receive the care he needed. Stories like Natora’s are far too common. The PetSmart Charities Gallup State of Pet Care Study found that more than half of pet parents have skipped or declined recommended veterinary care. Seventy-one percent of 08

those pet parents say cost was the primary barrier. Thankfully, a second opinion from the Humane Society of Southern Mississippi, an access to care grantee funded by PetSmart Charities, changed everything for Natora. Lucky’s condition was less severe than first believed, and his treatment cost just $300. Now, the care was affordable and within reach. Lucky received the care he needed, and Natora was able to keep the pet she loved. In 2025, we awarded over $17M to help make veterinary care more affordable and accessible. This investment helps ensure more pets get the care they deserve and more families like Natora and Lucky can stay together.

The magnitude of this issue can’t be overstated. We estimate it would cost more than $20 billion annually to provide adequate care for all pets currently receiving it. No single organization can tackle or resolve that sizeable gap alone. But we can all do our part.

Six future veterinarians were awarded a $25,000 scholarship to advance their education and further their commitment to strengthening the bond between pets and families. These outstanding students have shown exceptional leadership in making veterinary care accessible to pets and people in need. To address the veterinary shortage.

When Manotas suffered a severe, unexpected injury, Luis faced the overwhelming cost of getting him the care he needed. The team at PETS Clinic recommended Varidi, a flexible pay-over-time option for veterinary care. Luis enrolled in a payment plan that made Manotas’ treatment possible. When additional care was needed, he adjusted his plan so Manotas could receive it without delay. Since then, Luis has used Varidi twice more to help cover Manotas’ care, including emergency surgery. PetSmart Charities invested in research that demonstrated how flexible payment options can help more pet parents move forward with essential veterinary care. These findings will help us bring more veterinary clinics on board, expanding access to payment options that keep pets healthy and families together. 10

Preventing pet hunger No one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding the pet they love. PetSmart Charities works to address pet hunger through partnerships with Meals on Wheels America and Feeding America.
2025 PET HUNGER HIGHLIGHTS $9.8 MILLION GRANTED 56 MILLION MEALS PROVIDED REACHED 420 MILLIONTH MEAL MILESTONE
Together with Meals on Wheels America, we deliver pet food alongside meals for seniors, helping reduce food insecurity while also easing loneliness and isolation. Since 2020, this program has supported more than 46,000 seniors in keeping their pets healthy and at home. This year, we reached a meaningful milestone with the delivery of our 15 millionth pet meal, which went to Kali Mae, a 7-year-old dachshund in Waco, Texas, and her mom, Sharon, who lives with significant vision loss and relies on a fixed income. Through our partnership with Feeding America, we expand access to pet food nationwide. In 2025 alone, we donated 53.5 million meals, or 10.6 million pounds of food, to Feeding America affiliates and introduced smaller, easier-to-carry bags based on the needs of seniors and transit-dependent communities. We also raised awareness through Pet Hunger Awareness Day and local distribution events. Despite this progress, the need remains significant. Fifty-five percent of food banks say meeting pet food needs is important or very important, yet 63 percent report not having enough supply. PASADENA HUMANE SOCIETY Following the 2025 Eaton Fire, Pasadena Humane delivered lifesaving, community-centered support to pets and families across Altadena and surrounding areas. Prioritizing keeping pets with their people, they reunited thousands of lost pets with their families during active response efforts and provided emergency boarding and vital services to those in need. Support from PetSmart Charities helped make this compassionate, sustained response possible, keeping pets safe and families together through crisis and recovery.

HUMANE SOCIETY OF MISSOURI Following the May 2025 St. Louis tornado, Humane Society of Missouri delivered rapid, sustained support to impacted pets and families by deploying within hours to assess needs, shelter displaced animals, and provide medical care. With facilities intact and deep community ties, they responded without delay. TEXAS A&M FOUNDATION Following catastrophic flooding in Texas’ Guadalupe River basin, the Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team deployed to provide critical care for search-and-rescue dogs working in hazardous conditions. Their field-based support kept 137 canine responders healthy and mission-ready, sustaining lifesaving search efforts. Support from PetSmart Charities helped ensure these dedicated dogs could continue their work and return safely to the people who depend on them.

Across the country, dogs are waiting longer in shelters for their forever homes. In response, we saw an opportunity to do more by helping pets get in front of more potential adopters. Launched in July 2025, Adopt Joy events expanded our existing adoption efforts by bringing additional in-store dog adoption events to select PetSmart locations on a monthly basis. Working closely with our adoption partners and stores, these events focused on increasing visibility for dogs, especially those who had

been waiting longer, by introducing them to more people and, high-traffic environments. For our adoption partners, these events meant more chances to connect with people face to face. For shoppers, it was an easy, natural way to meet dogs while they were already in the store. And for the dogs, it meant more moments to be seen and hopefully chosen. The impact was clear. From July 2025 through January 2026, dog adoptions increased 20% year over year compared to the same period following the launch of Adopt Joy.

Foster Story – Maria and Ollie ...fostering doesn’t just change outcomes, it changes lives.
As a Project Manager at PetSmart Charities, Maria knows firsthand how powerful fostering can be. When she welcomed Ollie into her home as a foster, her goal was simple: help him shine. With two small dogs of her own, Maria carefully chose a foster who would thrive in her home—and Ollie was ready. During his time with Maria, Ollie gained confidence through everyday experiences. She introduced him to new environments, people of all ages, dogfriendly stores, restaurant patios, and even the office, helping him build social skills and allowing his calm, gentle nature to come through. Maria documented these moments so adoption partners could better understand who Ollie really was. That visibility made all the difference. After a meetand-greet at a local PetSmart store, Ollie was adopted by Neal, an experienced rescue dog parent who saw exactly what Maria had seen all along. Ollie jumped into his new life with ease, proof that fostering doesn’t just change outcomes, it changes lives.

PetSmart and its pet-passionate associates and customers come together year-round to provide critical funding and support that powers PetSmart Charities’ lifesaving work for pets, and the people who love them. The PetSmart community is special because it brings people together around the shared joy of pets. In 2025, millions of generous supporters from this community donated to PetSmart Charities while shopping on PetSmart.com, through PIN pad donations at in-store checkout and by donating Treats Rewards points. All donations are passed directly to PetSmart Charities to support its mission.
PetSmart created new opportunities for pet parents to support the good work of PetSmart Charities in 2025. Throughout the year, PetSmart asked pet parents to help respond to the challenges facing pets and their families, with causes ranging from disaster response to pet hunger. PetSmart’s Treats Rewards loyalty members stepped up and donated more than $1.2 million in points to PetSmart Charities to support these programs across the U.S. and Canada. Beyond these donations, PetSmart continues to ensure its 1,700 locations are the best places to find new pet companions through adoption. To help bring more dogs into stores to meet potential families, more than 700 PetSmart stores hosted Adopt Joy events in addition to all stores hosting National Adoption Week events three times throughout the year.

• The Treats Rewards Super Giveaway was launched, awarding 1 million points to one member and enabling them to select a PetSmart Charities’ animal rescue partner to receive 5 million points.
• Simply Nourish & Authority brands donated $1 per pet food bag sold to support our Pet Hunger Awareness Day drive, raising more than $36,000.

As the official feeding sponsor of PetSmart Charities, Hill’s supplies Science Diet pet food to all in-store Adoption Centers, ensuring that adoptable pets receive high-quality nutrition while awaiting their loving homes. Together, Hill’s and PetSmart Charities aim to strengthen the bond between pets and people, facilitating successful adoptions and offering science-led nutrition that supports long, healthy lives.
Alphia, one of North America’s largest pet food co-manufacturers, partners with PetSmart Charities to combat pet hunger and support families facing food insecurity. In honor of Pet Hunger Awareness Day, Alphia’s generous donation of $75,000, amplified our mission to provide nutritious meals to pets in need. This collaboration contributes to PetSmart Charities’ broader initiative, which has delivered over 420 million pet meals through partnerships with Feeding America and Meals on Wheels America, ensuring that pets remain with the families who love them, even during challenging times.
