ABSTRACTION OF MAHALAXMI TEMPLE EVOLUTION OF DESIGN

The chhat is a housing project in Kolhapur that focuses on reconnecting the traditional Indian architecture with contemporary architecture. Indian architecture has always been transformed by various expressions and cultures since the beginning of MANKIND. The traditional elements of Indian architecture are designed with experience, social, geographical, and environmental needs. Thus, bringing back what’s best for the environment is one step towards sustainability. The building focuses of preserving and admiring the nature. The buildings are named after the elements of the earth, Agni(fire), Vayu(wind), Jal(water) & Dharti (earth). These elements together create life, thus are essential to nurture life. The Chhat is designed to promote healthy, Sustainable, joyous, and connected living. The design is contemporary but takes inspiration from the long established temple architecture. E L E M E N T S

SAANS MEANING BREATHE. THE CONCEPT OF THIS YOGA CENTER WAS TO IMBIBE THE ESSENCE OF VARANASI IN A COMPACTED SPACE. THE EARTHINESS OF THIS HOLY CITY CAN BE FELT THROUGH THE CLAY SHINGLES, WOODEN FLOORING, JUTE BLINDS, AND A PROVISION OF AN OASIS IN THE CENTER THAT ALSO DEPICTS HOW VARANASI’S ESSENCE DEPENDS ON GANGA AS A MAIN CORE OR THE FOCI. THE YOGA CENTER IS DESIGNED WITH A MINIMALIST APPROACH. THIS YOGA CENTER IS DESIGNED AS A MODULE AND CAN BE REPEATED ONTO MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN THE CITY.

THE MUSEUM DESIGN IS CONCEPTUALIZED ON THE IDEA OF HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY. USUALLY MUSEUM ARE TERMED TO BE BORING AS THERE IS NO INTERACTIVE SPACE. THE INTERACTIVE SPACE MAKES MUSEUM LIVELY. BLINK PROVIDES SPACE FOR THE EYES TO REST AND BRAIN TO REFRESH FROM THE COLLECTION OF INFORMATION. THE GOLDEN SPIRAL IS A COMFORTABLE WALKING PATTERN. EVERY DISPLAY HAS A BREAK. THIS BREAK BRINGS BALANCE TO THE AUDIENCE.

THE HIVE IS A BUSINESS CENTERED HOTEL LOCATED IN THE IT PARK REGION OF PUNE. LIKE BUSY BEES PEOPLE ARE WORKING DAY-NIGHT TO PROVIDE NECTAR BACK AT THEIR HIVE. THE CONCEPT WAS THUS DERIVED. THE HIVE IS A SOCIAL SPACE WHICH DEPICTS GROWTH, TRANQUILITY & LIVELINESS. IT IS A BLEND BETWEEN VOCATION & VACATION.

Emanate- to emerge/ originate from.

The first reference comes from the ground that continues to form the roof of the bus stop. Secondly, all the materials used in the construction dissolves back in earth. The third resemblance is the emerging of village into urban village. Lastly, it is the emergence of thinking and breaking the stereotype in terms of design and lifestyle.

MILAN MEANING TO UNITE. THE PROJECT BRIEF CHALLENGED TO CONSTRUCT A BUNGALOW WITH THE FUSION OF A TRADITIONAL INDIAN ARCHITECTURE AND TRADITION CRAFT. ARCHITECTURE- BHUNGA HOUSE ART- PHULKARI EMBROIDERY BUNGA IS A HUT TYPOLOGY WHICH HAS A CYLINDRICAL BODY IN A DESERTED LOCATION TO AVOID EARTHQUAKES. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL THATCH ROOF. SUCH HOUSES ARE REPEATED ON A PLINTH CALLED OTLA TO FORM A FAMILY. PHULKARI IS A CLOTH CRAFT. PHULKARI TRANSLATES TO FLOWER GARDEN. BRIGHT & VIBRANT COLORED THREADS ARE WEAVED IN STRAIGHT LINES TO FORM AN ABSTRACTED FLOWER. SUCH PATTERNS ARE REPEATED TO EMBROIDERY A PIECE OF CLOTH. MILAN INCORPORATES BOTH THESE PRINCIPLES.

The furniture follows minimalism. The placement of shoe rack is in a meditation center, where people gather to form one unit. Our design also portrays the same ideology. It is integration of wooden planks, designed to hold any kind of footwear, into a steady shoe rack. It has an engaging design which is easy to understand and is public friendly. Placement- In between the corridor, to act as a partition and avoid crowd collection.

The project Echo is the voice of the ocean. It mimics what the waves would look like if we do not act upon its concern. The structure

to us, and this is our response. Lastly, the structure is a reflection of what goes around comes around

The project Echo is the voice of the ocean. It mimics what the waves would look like if we do not act upon its concern. The structure symbolizes the future ocean echoing to the present-day human to work responsibly. The Pavilion is the wave made from plastic with a space to conduct the workshops for recycling. The visitors get alarmed at the effects of plastic waste and thus can be a helping hand in decreasing the existing amount of plastic by reusing and recycling. The ocean is talking to us, and this is our response. Lastly, the structure is a reflection of what goes around comes around.

A COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN PROJECT THAT ASKED FOR PATTERN FORMATION LIMITED TO 2-3 MATERIAL USAGE. MATERIAL USED ARE KEY RING, THREAD, AND WOOD FOR FRAME. SIX EQUAL SIZE THREADS WERE LOOPED TO THE KEYRING FROM ITS CENTER AND BRAIDED INTERCHANGEABLY. FORMING A TWO TIRED PATTERN. THIS ONE PATTERN WAS JOINED TO ANOTHER WITH KNOTS FORMING A LAYER.
