MAPLE ORANGE GLAZED                                        FRENCH BABY CARROTS                           Healthy Whole Food Treat Recipe For Your Dog

Another International canine/human meal that is easy to make, very healthy and cost efficient. Let me know how you did with it.     At Pet Nutrition Systems we stress the use of whole food rather than processed food and treats for your pets. It may saves you money in the short run, will save you money in the long run and it provides a healthy alternative to mistery meat and questionable by-products. Here is a tasty treat for you and your pet for the holidays. We hope you enjoy them. Use "French baby" carrots are not those 1 inch carrots that one gets in a big bag to serve as snacks for kids. By baby carrots I mean the carrots that are 4 to 5 inches long, usually they come with the greens still on. As with most of our treats the left over’s can be dehydrated for a treats during the next couple of weeks. I vacuum seal them and have a variety of treats throughout the year.

If you double the recipe, you may need to increase the heat or cooking time to help the glaze reduce.

INGREDIENTS * 1 1/2 lbs of 5 inch long baby carrots, carefully washed, greens cropped to 1 inch above top of carrot 1 pound carrots, * * * * * *

2 Tbsp unsalted butter 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/3 cup orange juice 1/2 teaspoon orange zest Pinch cinnamon

METHOD 1 In a large, wide sauté pan, heat the butter on medium heat until melted. Add the carrots and toss to coat. Cook for 3-4 minutes, then add the maple syrup. Cook for a minute more, then add the orange juice. Cover the pan and cook for 3 more minutes.

2 Uncover the pan and increase the heat to medium high. Stir the carrots occasionally, and cook until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat. 3 Sprinkle cinnamon over the carrots, and stir in the orange zest. 4 Preheat oven to 400°F. Gently toss the carrots into the large rimmed baking pan. Sprinkle a little more cinnamon. 5 Roast for 30 to 40 minutes on middle rack or bottom rack, until well browned.

Left overs can be dehydrated for use as treats for the future.
