BREED SPECIFIC FORMULATION AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG (#13) Australian Cattle Dogs can be traced back to being a direct descendant of four specific breeds: the Dingo, the Blue Merle Highland Collie, the Dalmatian and the Black and Tan Kelpie. The Cattle Dog originally herded cattle in the rough outback of Australia. Here it developed not only its nutritional requirements but its legendary stamina and endurance. Ancestral foods for this breed would have been those found in the Australian outback (high desert) and would have included ground vegetables, wheat, oats and meats from beef, rabbit, and kangaroo. All the meats from this area have a very low fat to muscle ratio. Australian Cattle dog should be fed a diet low in fat / high fiber blend of fresh beef, corn, and wheat. You may use a mixture of pearl barley, boiled potatoes, and whole-wheat croutons, boiled of carrots, broccoli, yellow squash, spinach, blueberries, garlic and Olive Oil. Avoid feeding processed food and food blends that include soy, white rice, beet pulp, poultry or fish.
