A POLICE crackdown on cars being stolen from the Trafford Centre has been having great results

Officers in Trafford’s Neighbourhood Crime Team have been out in the community patrolling shopping car parks and giving out preventative advice to shoppers
And over a three week spell thanks to Operation Lexford no cars were taken
Drug twins jailed
TWO drug-dealing twins have been jailed for a total of 12 years following a police investigation into an organised criminal group in Nelson
As part of #OpWarrior, police launched an investigation into the fouryear criminal conspiracy, which involved Rohail and Sohail Khan, who were sourcing bulk amounts of drugs from crossboarder areas.
Those drugs were then cut, bagged and supplied by the Khan brothers with the assistance of Sohail’s girlfriend, Jade Mendes.
Rohail, (pictured above) was found in possession of around £500 cash and a mobile phone, and arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine
Examination of that mobile phone revealed messages detailing arrangements of the purchasing of bulk wholesale amounts of drugs, as well as packaging the drugs and supplying them
Sohail’s name was mentioned within those messages as also being involved in the supply of drugs
Rohail Khan, 27, of Fletcher Street, Nelson was jailed for six years for conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of criminal property

Jade Mendes, 32, of Cardigan Avenue, Burnley, received a two-year custodial sentence, suspended for 22 months for conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property.

“As par t of the operation, we provide an increased police presence at Trafford Centre and hold weekly police surgeries with focus on providing people with tailored crime prevention advice
“We have dedicated officers that provide preventative advice which really helps us help you in keeping yourself and your belongings safe
“We understand that cars are of great value to people and we understand that having a car stolen can have a huge impact both financially and emotionally ”
Drug dealer jailed
SELIM Ahmed, of Heywood, had more than 14,000 contacts on his ‘graft’ mobile phone with the top contacts being users of the class A drug
The 22-year-old was also advertising the supply of drugs in Heywood and Middleton.
Ahmed was arrested at a property on Cedar Avenue, Heywood, and found to be in possession of the Nokia 105 graft mobile phone He pleaded guilty, at an earlier hearing, to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin and possession of a knife and last month at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court and he was jailed for 48 months
Tactical unit moves
CHIEF Constable Stephen Watson formally opened Greater Manchester Police's new Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) base in Leigh GMP has relocated part of its TAU to provide a better public ser vice in the north and west of the force area
The officers will be stationed at Leigh Police Station to allow increased visibility as well as improving the response to crime and anti-social behaviour in the area
TAU carries out high-profile disruption and enforcement, targeting serious, organised, and high-impact crime

DANIAAL Ghafoor had the class A drugs at his proper ty on Market Street
The 29-year-old was working for a County Lines network and used a mobile phone to send multiple messages adver tising the sale of crack cocaine and heroin to people who were addicted to them
Greater Manchester Police’s dedicated County Lines Team began a cover t investigation – codenamed Operation Jig – to identify who was supplying the drugs in and around the Rochdale area.
When Ghafoor was identified, a warrant was executed at a proper ty on Snowdon Street Ghafoor was inside and had in his possession 16 wraps of heroin and 32 wraps of crack cocaine . At Minshull Street Crown Cour t, Ghafoor was jailed for four years
Fugitive finally jailed
A FUGITIVE who had been on the run for almost four years has been jailed for 30 years
Callum Halpin, 28,) was wanted in connection with the murder of Luke Graham, 31, and the attempted murder of Anton Verigotta, in June 2018 Graham, a dad-of-two, was ambushed and shot dead in a drugs turf war in broad daylight.
At Minshull Street Crown Court last month, Halpin was jailed for 30 years for the murder of Luke Graham He will ser ve a seven-year sentence concurrently for the wounding with intent of Anton Verigotta
Five men had previously been brought to justice in July 2019 as part of Operation Yale including Wade Cox and Jordan Atkinson
