ITS B EEN A B US Y Y E A R . . . AL R E ADY! Welcome to the first edition of ETI Informer. As ETI grows at a rapid rate I’m finding it harder to spend the one on one time with every student and family that I would prefer. There are so many events and opportunities happening at ETI its hard to stay informed. The easiest way to stay informed is to like ETI on Facebook, but in addition we are now going to be producing this newsletter regularly to

let you know all of the exciting ETI and other events that are available to ETI students and the ETI community. Current students are well aware of the additional opportunities that ETI provides, already we have many of our students holding their own professionally recorded EP, they have met Guy Sebastian and his amazing band, and have been inspired by

overseas artists in clinics. Its the ETI Difference! Thank you for your continued support and for being part of my dream to inspire the world not just to learn music, but to make music and inspire others through their passion. Kindest Regards

Beyond Education During the Christmas School Holidays ETI and NSS hosted a COME AND TRY music day. This was a free day full of fun and learning. All ETI Educators were on hand to give new and current students a free lesson and advice on their instrument of choice. We made a lot of folks happy and even got some of the parents involved.

AT ETI WE GO BEYOND MUSIC EDUCATION TO OFFER UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP YOU CREATE YOUR DREAM! Studio Sessions Also in the school holidays ETI gave 4 students the opportunity to record in the NSS professional recording studio for a 5 hour lock in. The students that took up this opportunity proved their skills in what can only be described as an intimidating environment. ETI is so proud of Megan Howse, Mel T, Corry Clarke and Macy Robertson-Wood. Their skills and the dedication to their craft is inspiring. Mel T has progressed this opportunity and has begun the process of creating artwork and duplication to share her amazing talent with others. Look out for her on iTunes soon!!! Don’t forget you’ll get to experience these amazing performances first hand at the mid year performance 11 July. On the Radio Something else that ETI has offered students is the opportunity to be heard on radio. ETI has developed a great relationship with PBAFM and has been engaging with audiences regularly through this program. A great way of engaging with the local community and showcase some of our amazing local talent. You never know you could be asked to perform live on radio soon! At ETI we are working hard to ensure opportunities are varied and appeal to and inspire our diverse student base. ASPIRE TO INSPIRE!!

ETI _STUD EN T P R O F I L E , LAC H LA N C R A M M ON D

Lachy has been gracing the ETI suites for the past 2 years and has become quite the groover. Like most kids, finding something that keeps them interested is a challenge. Thankfully Lachy found drums! Not only the drums but the inspiration to develop great skills and aspire towards jazz and funk greats Darren Farrugia and Dave Weckl. Lachy has a natural talent that has been given the right environment to grow, along with his supportive family his ETI experiences have helped him stay inspired to learn. Lachy has even helped inspire other students at a local school where he was an INSPIRE_IN_SCHOOLS ‘ETI ambassador’ and taught them how to groove. Lachy is a very humble student and is very organised. He appears to be very focused on process and getting outcomes through good practice and systems. At ETI we try to focus on the students strengths and develop methods to engage them individually. “Its always a pleasure working with Lachy, he inspires me :-)” Pete Barter, Educator

ET I _EDU C ATO R P R O F I L E , S I M ON FUNKWIG

Simon is a dedicated ETI Educator. He has been a part of ETI for about 18 months now and fronts the Bass section of ETI. Simon has a strong funk background and leads a most intriguing life. He has performed across the country and with some of the world’s leading musicians. Notably Simon performed at the opening of the ARIAs with Candace Alley. Although he heads the Bass education for ETI he is also an accomplished drummer, guitarist and teaches in these areas also. Simon has an ability to instantly connect with his students and find their burning passion within. His own passion for his craft is second to none and is pure inspiration. Influenced by Boosty Collins, Marcus Millar, you’ll know your Bass playing will never be the same again if you have the pleasure of getting educated by Funkwig. Simon’s dedication to ETI students is profound, he regularly travels for over an hour to make sure his students don’t miss out - even for one 1/2 hour session a week! “Funkwig is a true ETI gem, his passion and dedication to his students is awe inspiring. Thanks Simon!” Pete Barter, CEO/Founder
