Once diagnosed, we Begin A treatment that lasts about 150 days.

DAYS 1-28

Day 60

We receive the first injection of immiticide, which kills the adult worms living in and around our hearts, and begin prednisone to control inflammation of the heart.

Day 150

Throughout the treatment, we must avoid physical activity. This is the day we can get back to normal!

We are kept on a pre-treatment antibiotic called Doxycycline. We also begin monthly heartworm prevention, which kills off any immature worms in our system.

DAY 90 & 91

We receive two immiticide injections back to back and begin another round of prednisone.

9 MONTHS LATER

We are retested to ensure treatment worked.
