About PET-Xi PET-Xi has been trading and changing young lives for 26 years and has stayed at the forefront of engagement and motivation for learners throughout its entire history. We work with NEET’s, RONI’s, mainstream school learners, unemployed adults, businesses, Apprentices, Traineeships, Tutoring and everything in between. We run courses ranging from an hours tutoring, to Topic Focus days in schools covering mainstream subjects, to High-5 (full week) courses in school covering mainstream subjects, to long term interventions, holiday programmes at all levels for all learners. We also run courses for adults ranging from 1 or 2 days to 10 days on courses such as ITQ, Customer Service, Team Leading, Health and Social Care, Functional Skills. We have work available across the entire country all year round (aside from Christmas) where you can sign up to multiple roles to work either locally, regionally or nationally travelling the country with our team of amazing trainers and teachers. All roles are paid on a subcontract day rate meaning you can work as much or as little as you like around other commitments or work you may have.
Staff roles Our staffing model requires a team to work together to ensure the learners get the best of us in terms of energy and engagement. We believe engagement is the key to better teaching and we follow our philosophy on every minute of every course. We have taken the role of a teacher and split it into 3 part, Lead Trainer, Subject Expert and Support. Each role working together in harmony to ensure that the learners get the best from us and the best from their PET-Xi experience.
Lead Trainers Our Lead Trainers come from all walks of life. We have Lead Trainers with backgrounds in Acting, Music, Teaching, Banking, The Army, Sports and on and on, the list is endless! The point is, we are looking for people with a personality who can help to engage the learners, make them laugh and drive the course with their energy to make sure we get everything completed in the time available. You don’t need to have any qualifications or experience, just be willing to learn and have a natural personality that likes to help young people and go the extra mile when it is needed. The Lead Trainer is the part of the teaching role that deals with engagement and motivation. The Lead Trainer controls the pace of the room and ensures that all staff, and learners, are giving the best they can throughout the whole session. The Lead Trainer will deal with the school contact and is in charge. Imagine a job where you get to help people all day, change lives on a regular basis and spend the day smiling and having fun… You’ve just found it! Pay rates vary from £100 - £120 per day.
Subject Experts The Subject Expert is a person who delivers the content to the learner as a teacher would. Most of our Subject Experts are qualified Teachers but this is not always the case, people training to be teachers or just very good at a subject can become a Subject Expert with PET-Xi with training. All the lessons are provided for you with the materials. The Subject Experts role is to teach when the Lead Trainer asks them to teach in the most passionate way they can. The pay rates range from £120 - £160 per day depending on qualifications and experience, it also includes expenses and hotels and food allowance for those who choose to travel.
Support Trainers The support trainer role is pivotal to the entire classroom understanding every topic as we move through them on our PET-Xi courses. The role is there to sit with a group or singular learner to help if needed, help the Lead with classroom management and be the eyes and ears of learners who may be struggling. Pay rate £70 per day.
Tutors We have close to a thousand sessions running each week for tutoring maths and English with our learners and schools around the country. This is all done remotely. All lessons are provided for you to follow. You must have a L4 Teaching qualification at least. Sessions are done with 3 or 5 learners generally and the pay rate is £23 - £30 per hour depending on the contract you are working on from Government contracts like NTP or our own commercial bookings. We also pay extra for any additional marking which has to tak place outside of the session.
Other roles We also have roles for markers during exam seasons, invigilators, assessors and writers to help us create materials when needed. Pay rates for these all differ, but please ask if you need!

Whether that interaction is positive or negative, interdepartmental or with a customer, learner, or partner, it must be that everyone feels supported by their interaction. Failure to do this either in house or with an external person must always be seen as a failure and dealt with. The new PET-Xi which has risen throughout the extremely difficult times of the pandemic of 2020 must continue to improve to make sure our staff receive the support and magic that our learners have come to expect from us. That includes regular meetings, great communication, top class support, up to date HR files, training at a high level, and a pathway to move forward within the company if appropriate.
Using your values and passion to develop your purpose The things that you are passionate about and which you hold as your values are the things which will make you want to get out of bed in the morning and which help you to really make things happen. Your purpose can be worked out by using your values and your passion as direction. Use your values and passion to identify your purpose: Do your personal values align with the values of your workplace? They must do in order for you to achieve a happy, balanced life. It is a unique fusion of People, Experience and Tools that have shaped and driven our successes: People – our collective experience in collaborating with such diverse and exciting people made us realise that inspirational people sometimes come from the most unexpected and unorthodox backgrounds, and that unusual skills and talents in unorthodox combinations can create disproportionately better results. Experience – enough time at the coalface illustrated time and time again that a sublime balance of IQ, EQ and good old-fashioned sparky inspiration in the right doses beat rote and regime every time. Tools – and we’ve realised that even the brightest most inspirational people need help to go the extra mile – so we’ve collaborated with a broad group of experts and specialists in shaping the tools we use, developing them in line with the learner’s need, not the accepted dogma of the given subject matter.
