RYAN’S STORY

P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY A Ryan Cooper, aged 26, lost his job as a chef as a result of the first Covid-19 lockdown. He went on to secure a number of temporary positions through recruitment agencies but wanted permanent employment which offered more job security, so contacted PET-Xi to find out if they could help.

Support provided by PET-Xi Ryan took part in PET-Xi’s City of Culture course which aims to educate learners about Coventry so they are in the best possible position to participate in the City of Culture year while also developing transferable employability skills in areas such as customer service, health and safety and first aid. He was also supported by PET-Xi Recruitment and Progressions Co-ordinator Harry Cracker who looked at his skills and experience and explored potential career options. Harry said: “Ryan wanted to both upskill and find permanent employment. He did extremely well on the City of Culture course and r eceived some excellent feedback from those delivering it who said he really engaged with the content and did very well throughout. “We chatted through his work history and he told me about his p revious experience working in warehouses and expressed an interest in getting back into the industry. “We work closely with Amazon, helping to fill positions at their Coventry and Rugby sites. I was able to find a suitable position for Ryan to apply for, talked him through the assessment process, and once Ryan had passed the assessment he received a guaranteed interview. “He did really well at interview and successfully secured the position which is fantastic.”
