BRIAN‘S STORY
Brian Davis, aged 61, was furloughed from his position as an installation administrator in the retail sector before eventually being made redundant. He was identified by his Job Centre as an ideal candidate for a work coach role within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before being referred to PET-Xi as part of the sector-based work academy, designed to help employers meet their future recruitment needs.
Support provided by PET-Xi Brian took part in a customer service and employability sector-based work academy, which covered units from the Level 2 customer service course and gave details on the work coach role as well as support with the civil service application process. Those taking part in the programme were supported through the different stages of the application process and were helped to prepare for the interview. Adam Ashley, contract Development manager at PET-Xi, said: “Brian did brilliantly on the three-day programme. He was really engaged and keen to refresh his knowledge. “We tend to get some quite experienced people referred through the sector-based work academies, and Brian was no different. “We were very pleased to support him through the application process and see him successfully secure employment.”
Outcomes Brian successfully secured a position as a work coach at Northampton Job Centre where he has been working for two months.
