ABOUT THE EDITORS
Hi guys! I am Ashley Nguyen. I have been a Key Club Editor for one year already and know the ropes for the club. I really enjoy meeting new people through this club, so I hope I will be able to know all the members by the end of the year. With a warm welcome to Key Club’s 2019-2020 term, my name is Tiffany Doan and I am a new officer to Key Club this year. I’ve been a member of key club for the past two years and am so excited to serve the position as co-editor with my good friend Ashley! One of my goals this year for Key Club is to reach out the members a lot more to provide them with the best service opportunities to build their character. I hope we have a wonderful year!

Hi everyone! My name is Smaran Velidi, and I am a senior at the IB World School at PESH. I have been the president of the Plano East Key Club for the last two years and have been involved with this club since freshman year. In my free time I love to play any sports I can, ranging from basketball to frisbee to spike-ball! President, Smaran Velidi

MEET THE OFFICERS Hey guys! My name is Jenny Wey and I am a senior in IB at PESH. I have been part of key club for the last three years and have been the Vice President for two years. I am a sucker for any good music: I play the violin, guitar, and sing during my free time. Hello Key Clubbers! My name is Minh-Khanh Phung and I am this year’s co-secretary for Plano East Key Club. Something fun about myself is that I am in many clubs besides Key Club, such as Rubik’s Cube Club. MEET THE OFFICERS Hi! My name is Aisha Polani and I’m an IB junior at PESH. I’m your co-secretary along with Minh-Khanh and this is my first year as an officer but second year as a member. I’ve already learned so much and am starting to get the hang of things.I enjoy listening to music, reading and baking! I hope to get to know all the members a little better as the year goes on! Hi everyone! My name is Navya Muthya, and I am a junior at the IB World School at PESH. I joined Key Club in 9th grade and have been the treasurer for the last two years. I enjoy anything to do with the arts from dancing to singing, and I love listening to all types of music as well. My goal for Key Club is to make every process such as dues as easy as possible for the members and to make the club a welcoming area for everyone! Treasurer, Navya Muthya

MEET THE OFFICERS Hey! My name is Sophia Li and I am a current senior at PESH. I joined KEY club in 10th grade and have loved the assortment of service projects that our club does. My favorite hobbies are playing the cello, piano, and cooking. If anyone ever needs food recommendations, I have a ton of my favorite restaurants and dishes! Marketing Manager, Sophia Li
Hey everyone! My name is Prerak Khandelwal and I’m a current IB senior at PESH. I’m this year's webmaster and I’ve been involved in the Key Club for the past two years. I have a lot of different hobbies, including playing the violin and listening to music. My goal for Key Club is to make all of the information as accessible as possible to everyone! Plano Balloon Festival‌
On September 21, 2019, the Key Club members helped at the annual Plano Balloon Festival. Each member split up into groups and worked at a specific booth. The members were responsible for asking parents who came through the entrance whether or not their child wanted a wristband with contact information on it. The members showed a lot of excitement to help little kids and were able to efficiently get the attention of parents to come over. There were many kids who came and were excited to meet our friendly members.

Because of everybody’s hard work, every child was able to stay safe during the large event. The event was extremely successful because of the large volunteer turnout from Plano East. We would like to thank all our members for showing up to shifts in order to help out the District Kiwanis organizers. Plano East had the highest volunteer number compared to all the other Plano schools! We hope to see a large volunteer turnout again at future Key Club events!

Paloween… Paloween is an activity performed by numerous clubs at Plano East Senior High School that provides kids from elementary and middle schools to have a fun celebration of Halloween. This activity features games and candy for the children, which the students at Plano East organize. Plano East Key Club members volunteered after the monthly meeting on October 4th to create the decorations for the event; members crafted paper pumpkins, bats, skeletons, and other spooky ornaments. In addition, Key Club members donated candy bags to provide resources to use during Paloween. Along with clubs such as the National Honor Society, Unicef, IBSSA, and Future Health Professions, Plano East Key Club members volunteered on October 29th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm to ensure that the elementary and middle schoolers would have a great time. Specifically, Plano East Key Club had four exciting games: pin the face on the pumpkin, knockdown cans, arm wrestling, and keep the balloon afloat.

To have the event run smoothly, some members arrived at 5:00 pm to set up Key Club’s venue and another set of members at 6:00pm were separated into four groups accordingly to each game and many kids were able to collect candy and participate in the activities. At the end of Paloween, both the members and officers contributed to clean up Key Club’s venue and the event was a success.
Key Club’s role in Paloween allowed the kids to have fun and celebrate the holiday of Halloween. Members were able to perform service for the better of the community and to enjoy their time volunteering for Paloween. This would not have been possible without the collaborative effort of our officers and members. Thank you to everyone who pitched in!

Who do we turn in PVCs to? ◦

What are service hour requirements? ◦

Meetings are typically held in B1-274 or B1-262 every first Friday of the month after school starting at 4:20pm.
If I miss a meeting, are there makeup meetings? ◦

Up to 5 hours can be used from the summer for your fall semester PVC.
When and where are the meetings held? ◦

Do summer hours count on PVCs? ◦

Fifteen hours are due on December 13, 2019. Each member is required to attend three out of the four service projects after the meetings.
When are PVCs due? ◦

Any of the officers will take them or Mrs. Tomotaki can in B1-262.
There are makeup meetings every Tuesday after the actual meeting in the morning. The meeting starts at 8:15 AM.
