EDITOR'S NOTE Spring has finally come! Whether your tell is the Spring Equinox, the groundhog, or when flowers start to bloom, we can all enjoy the perfect sunny days to come.
Exciting things happened this month I along with the rest of the officer team were able to collect applications for those who wanted to serve on next year's team. Furthermore, we conducted interviews and got to know more about everyone! One thing that I missed from in-person school this year was the daily one to interactions with people, and I was able to while conducting some of the. Find out who is going to serve you on the officer team next year on page 17.

Although I have not been in Key Club since my first year at Plano East Senior High School, I have undergone multiple pathways of development in my character and interpersonal skill. To speak on a yearly term, the hectic year of 20202021 has changed the importance of Key Club in my mind. Originally, I had thought of this club as another source of volunteer opportunities; however, I realize that small little acts of kindness go a long way. THE KEY POINTS | 06
The three sentences you wrote to a frontline worker could give them the
strength to continue saving lives into long night shifts service communities carry light in the darkness. Like many other officer teams, the Key Club officer team of 2020-2021 was frantically meeting twice a month in the summer and during the
beginning of the school year to transform our formatting from inperson to online. A Google Classroom was created to post materials and service opportunities, meetings were all held on Zoom, and every month, a virtual service opportunity was presented at monthly meetings to allow sufficient resources for our members to complete the required twelve service hours.
As the year continued, I learned about Key Clubbers’ stories through members of the month; many of our members expressed their passion for volunteering and provided examples of how they have
individually helped make the world a better place, which is what everyone needs right now. I may not be able to speak for the entirety of Plano East Key Clubbers, but the adventure of service that brought me here and I’ve come to the understanding that my actions of recording transcripts could go a long way into the advancement of the world and its people. At the beginning of the year, I could only think about the technical aspect of Key Club’s logistics - now, I see that the culmination of many people’s hard work has turned into a legacy to be carried on by our members.

Celeste Lee
After the record-breaking winter storm, and an unexpected week off school, being recognized in Key Club has been a wonderful surprise! It is always the best feeling to be recognized in an organization that you are genuinely proud to be a part of. This is my second year participating in Key Club and without a doubt, it has been a positive and enriching experience. For me personally, volunteering and community service have always been one of my passions, so Key Club was the perfect fit for me!

CELESTE LEE How Key Club has impacted our lovely member!
In my opinion, there is no better thing to do than to help the less fortunate and actively care for the world around you. These small actions can potentially change someone’s life and spread positivity in the often darkened world. When school went virtual, Key Club opened up my mind to new virtual service projects. At first, I was unsure how much I could really impact someone simply through my pressing buttons on my computer, but I was pleasantly surprised!
"THERE IS NO BETTER THING TO DO THAN TO HELP THE LESS FORTUNATE."
One of my favorite at-home service projects is to write letters to my local nursing home. In the past year, nursing home residents have become increasingly isolated and lonely due to COVID19. Therefore, by writing encouraging and hopeful letters, I hope to raise their spirits for the future! Through this opportunity, I am able to make a difference in their lives while also building meaningful relationships. It brings me so much joy that the small actions that I’m taking are able to bring someone happiness at that moment. Key Club has made an enormous impact on me by giving me community, service, and spreading positivity to the community. Additionally, the monthly zoom meetings and occasional game nights are a perfect way to get in some social interaction while also making an impact on the world. Although too many of your service hours can be thought of as a chore or something to put on your resume, I hope that through Key Club, you will learn that it is so much more.

The monthly meeting of April is approaching, which also means the final PESH Key Club meeting of the 2020-2021 school year is coming up quickly! The officers’ plans extend from reminding members that their twelve service hours from the Spring semester are due May 14th, announcing the new Key Club officers, a fun award and social event, and finally saying our last goodbyes. Throughout the whole year, we have accumulated hundreds of hours of service thanks to our lovely Key THE KEY POINTS | 14
of service thanks to our lovely Key Clubbers at Plano East - this Spring semester has been smooth sailing with the addition of a few new members and the selection of the new officers. To everyone who has stuck with us to the end, I want to thank you for attending meetings and participating in volunteer opportunities with Key Club! The only reason why Key Club is an organization at Plano East Senior High School is because of the people who come together!
Although a banquet is not possible because of the pandemic, Key Club hopes to hold an event to present awards to outstanding Key Clubbers in terms of the number of service hours individuals have contributed and to those who have been a part of emphasized projects! Furthermore, to get to know our members just a little bit more, we want to have a fun social for everyone to participate in during the last meeting. This social will be similar to the bingo event that we held during December’s monthly meeting. Then it will be time for our final goodbyes to the Key Clubbers
of this school year; everyone can still contribute to the betterment of the world by participating in service opportunities that we post on Google Classroom and the meeting slides. Overall,
this year has been amazing, despite the technical difficulties of transforming PESH Key Club into an online format. The officer team has high hopes for next year, to allow new members to find their passion in volunteering and build their character with other Key Clubbers.

If I miss a meeting, are there makeups?
The link to submit service hours will be sent out monthly on Remind and Google Classroom. The Google Form will keep track of how many hours you have completed everytime you enter a new activity in.
There are no makeup meetings, but join the Google Classroom to view the slides for the meeting you missed and ask questions through Remind! Make sure you complete the required service activity as well.
Do winter break hours count towards the 12 hours?
