EDITOR'S NOTE My eyes opened and I look at the time: I woke up 5 minutes before my alarm went off, which is quite typical for me. So I rolled off my bed and moseyed my way to the restroom to freshen up.
On the drive to the office, I observed the constructions sites. . . and found that we were already at the office where I was about to get my four wisdom teeth out. I walked into the waiting room, signed in for my surgery appointment and sat down for a brief period before my name was called. I was greeted by a very nice lady who got me all prepped for my procedure; the oxygen, blood pressure, and I can't forget the IV. After waiting for a tiny bit, my doctor came in and injected the sleeping medicine as I began to f a l l a s l e e p. And now I look like a chipmunk! Anyway, this was one of my few adventures during this holiday break. And here's to more adventures with Key Club this year!

REACHING THE STARS WITH PROTECT THE PERIOD
67 products were donated by our PESH Key Clubbers!
Over the past two months, Plano East Key Club has been organizing a donation drive for period products to be sent to City House, a local homeless shelter. Key Clubbers have been coming in on biweekly drop off dates to contribute to this movement. Thankfully, our wonderful Key Clubbers pulled through and were able to raise a large number of pads and tampons for this winter’s donation drive. And THE KEY POINTS | 06
to Protect the Period, thank you for letting Plano East Key Club be a part of your donation drive for period products! First and foremost,
the officer team would like to thank our members for helping us carry out our first donation drive of the year. We hope
to continue having donation drives during the next few months of the new year that will also help spread awareness about topics that go overlooked sometimes. And a special thanks to our sponsor Mrs. Tomotaki for communicating with the officers promptly in regards to every service opportunity and meeting we plan. From a quantitative standpoint, Plano East Key Clubbers were able to donate 67 products! This is a huge accomplishment for Key Club especially because of the issues of the coronavirus still lingering on. The past month of December, we had
many people come to the drive-by and donate extra products as well, which is always great to see! As we continue through the first few days of the year, I aspire to become better in terms of organizing donation drives and volunteer opportunities, in general, to give back to our community. The Key Club officer team at PESH is always looking for ways to aid our friends, especially during this time; please let any of the officers know if you have ideas on how to help your community or others. You can contact anyone through Remind or e-mail!

HOLIDAY BINGO This year's end of annual celebrations and services.

Plano East Key Club’s December monthly meeting was full of holiday joy! We had enjoyable holiday tunes going as our officer team curated an interactive bingo game for the members. The basic premise of Key Club’s holiday bingo was that each person would have their own bingo card and the officers would ask a trivia question relating to the holidays or winter season. Then the members would put their answers in the chat and if they got the correct answer, they would be able to fill in the spot on their bingo card!
This event was super successful thanks to our wonderful Key Clubbers; though we could not have our annual holiday party with a movie, food, and drinks, Key Club was able to incorporate
holiday spirit this year through a Zoom bingo event. We had fun questions like What side dish is consumed the most on Christmas day? and how tall is the tallest snowman in feet? (By the way, the answers are roasted potatoes and 122 feet respectively).

With a turn out of about fifty Key Clubbers attending this holiday event, we were able to have four winners of our holiday bingo! The winners were Britney Doan, Brian Nguyen, Muhammed Raditya, and Reshma Thomas! After we had these four winners, we still kept the game going, but it was just for fun and spreading the holiday spirit. For this semester, the Key Club officer team hopes to bring more socials like this one to our members: this could include Among Us socials, Pictionary socials, and maybe just socials to catch up on how everyone is doing! We hope to bring our members some volunteer socials as well, such as making cards for United States veterans over Zoom, but maybe a small inperson social could be possible soon. If anyone has some suggestions, do not

This is my second year being a member of Key Club and it has definitely been a positive experience in my high school years. Key Club has caused me to become more active in my community by helping finding credible charities and volunteering organizations, as well as being a close-knit family in which I can have fun volunteering with. MEGAN MENENDEZ How Key Club has impacted our lovely member!
Before I became a member of Key Club, I had trouble finding ways I could help others. On the internet there are many organizations that scam donors by pretending to be a charitable organization, and often it is difficult to tell which are actually beneficial. Since the Key Club officers work to find trustworthy volunteering opportunities, I am
able to put my time and resources into organizations that actually help make a difference in someone’s life.

Having a close group of friends in which I can volunteer with has helped me to enjoy it more and, in turn, has caused me to search for more opportunities. Volunteering can feel like a chore for me at times, especially since it is time consuming. When I volunteer with friends, I find that because I have so much fun, time goes by almost too quickly. Even something as simple as meal packing soon became something I looked forward to.
My favorite service is the VocaliD word bank where they collect audio recordings to make synthetic voices for those who don’t have one, and I would have never found such a

PRACTICING GRATITUDE IN KEY CLUB

The year of 2020 has left many of us with reflective mindsets as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus and quarantine orders across the globe. When something is taken away, it is natural for us to want that something back. When human contact was taken away, we wanted that contact back. But thankfully, we have technologies like texting, calling, and video calling that allows us to bring everyone together virtually. Key Club has been a driving factor THE KEY POINTS | 14
for my motivation this past year,starting from January. Last January I was able to find a good balance between being a student and being a Key Clubber or anything else in regards to extracurriculars. Key Club in particular has been an outlet of service for me since my sophomore year in highschool. I remember not knowing many people in the club and picking up trash in the hallways after an informational meeting.
Little did I know, I had found a family within Key Club in addition to opportunities that would take me from making relationships in my school community to making relationships with people from across districts. Furthermore, I found a genuine hobby in volunteering for the betterment of my world. This was the start of my journey to be editor of Key Club in the coming years: I wanted to document what stories Key Clubbers were contributing to. I have been able to find joy in writing articles and producing newsletters each month. I love finding

When the officer team of 20202021 realized that we were going to have to switch to virtual mediums, we worked all Summer to make sure everything would work out for our members! Thankfully, we’ve been able to have multiple meetings to present events to help out the community.

What are service hour requirements?
When and where are meetings held?
How do I turn in service hours?
If I miss a meeting, are there makeups?
The link to submit service hours will be sent out monthly on Remind and Google Classroom. The Google Form will keep track of how many hours you have completed everytime you enter a new activity in.
There are no makeup meetings, but join the Google Classroom to view the slides for the meeting you missed and ask questions through Remind! Make sure you complete the required service activity as well.
Do winter break hours count towards the 12 hours?
Where can I get forms?
Yes! All hours you got from winter break count towards this semester's 12 hours.

12 hours are to be submitted via Google Form this Fall Semester, you can have a maximum of 3 donation hours.
