PESADO T.P.D - Instruction manual

How to use Pesado T.P.D Prerequisite before use: 1. Highly recommended to CLEAN shower screen and run a blind filter cycle on your machine to get rid of any coffee grounds.

By NOT following this you might block passages that allow the T.P.D to work.

Installing TPD to Pesado portafilter (If you have acquired a TPD without the portafilter assembly, please follow the following instructions to fit device on your current PESADO portafilter) 1. Make sure you check the TPD before installing, make sure there are no foreign substances or objects (coffee grounds, bubble wrap, cardboard etc.)

2. Slide the sensor of the TPD in the PESADO portafilter spout hole, please make sure not to drop or bend the temperature sensor.

3. To lock the sensor properly, make sure to feed the sensor probe through the ROUND hole of the locking nut. (See Figure 1.0) There should be 4 holes total, please INSERT to the hole that matches sensor size. * (sensor probe is very delicate, follow instructions carefully) 4. Lock the nut with the tools provided, make sure seals inside the TPD are not bent before locking the device. The seals should remain flat and the device should be easy to tighten.

5. Hand tighten first,then use the provided tightening tool if necessary, the device should not be too tight. We recommend to tighten the nut enough so you can still easily pivot the TPD.

Tips & Notes: -

Once the device is attached to a portafilter we recommend not removing the TPD too often, as this will decrease the lifespan of the o-ring seals.

Be careful not to burn yourself with the excess water inside the portafilter when removing the portafilter from your group, we recommend opening the drain valve tap (turn anti-clockwise) and let water drain through the TPD, instead of tipping the TPD upside down.

The TPD should be able to spin freely on the portafilter so it can be easily locked to various machines.

Make sure the device charging port is always covered when in use.

TPD drain valve will dispense hot water, be careful not to burn yourself.

Highly recommended to charge unit while NOT in use

HOW TO USE: PLEASE FOLLOW PRE-REQUISITE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING DEVICE Temperature reading ● ● ● ●

Lock the portafilter to your machine with TPD device attached.

Turn on the temperature gauge.

Adjust sensor to desired temperature reading (Fahrenheit or Celcius).

Fully open drain valve (twist knob anti-clockwise) and run water through device as if you were making coffee, this will purge any air pocket in the system and stabilize temperatures of the TPD body.

Whilst water is still running close the drain valve of the TPD (twist knob clockwise) Watch temperature and pressure reading rise.

Once temperature reading reaches maximum temperature, open the TPD drain valve slowly (twist anti-clockwise) until Bar Pressure reading is between 7-9 bar.

When the pressure gauge (left) is between 7-9 bar, this will mimic the average flow rate of an espresso shot and it will also be the Temperature of the water flowing out of the group head. Try to achieve a flow of 30ml/30 seconds, this will mimic the coffee extraction rate.

Lock the portafilter to your machine with TPD device attached Run water through as if you were making coffee Close the drain valve of the TPD (twist knob clockwise) Watch pressure rise (left gauge) This is now your maximum pressure Turn off the group switch and slowly open the drain valve to release water and pressure build up.

PLEASE FOLLOW PRE-REQUISITE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING DEVICE Optimal Temperature and Pressure reading Optimal pressure and flow rate readings vary depending on make, model and technology of your equipment, heat exchange machines will behave differently to saturated boiler systems. Please follow your machine’s instruction manual for recommended temperature and pump pressure.

Any readings made by the TPD do not reflect in any way the manufacturer's specifications or the required guidelines for the equipment to operate correctly.
