Gardenlands Garden & Leisure supports schools to ‘Grow & Learn’ Gardenlands Garden & Leisure’s NEW Grown & Learn initiative is a great opportunity for schools to get their pupils hands on with gardening and learn about the benefits of growing your own. Schools have always been a vital part of Gardenlands work and throughout the year they hold a variety of regular KidsClub planting workshops, events and parties, face painting, fancy dress and colouring competitions. Grow & Learn is an extension of this and is a gardening club that has been created especially for schools. By joining the free club, schools will be offered free specialist advice sessions (including school trips and onsite advice), fantastic discounts on plants and gardening products, raffle prizes for Christmas & Summer Fetes, competitions for schools and pupils and the dedicated support of the store’s Events Co-ordinator to help with any other support they may need. With gardening set to become part of the National Curriculum, Grow & Learn is a fantastic opportunity to give children a real life insight into the world of gardening.

We LOVE Pilates... Following the launch of a new Body Control Pilates Studio in Codsall, we speak to owner and trainer Lucy McBride to find out more about a form of exercise that many celebrities swear by... Who is Pilates suitable for? Pilates is for everyone – no matter what age, how flexible you are or your level of fitness, you can reap its benefits. It is one of the only exercise programs that doesn't discriminate between weight, age, strength or flexibility. What results can you expect from Pilates? Pilates is all about developing the perfect balance of strength & flexibility; but helps with posture and body tone along the way. How is it different to other forms of exercise, like yoga? Pilates was developed in the 20th and draws on the most effective features of a variety of practices; including yoga, self-defence, weight training, skiing and even circus training. I’m not sure group exercise is for me – can I still do Pilates? Absolutely – you can book private classes for some oneto-one tuition until you are confident enough in your abilities to join a class suitable for your level.

I have found that in the last three years of being your MP, attending Conservative Party Conference has always given me the opportunity to reflect on my time in politics so far and look ahead to what can be done in the future. When I attended my first conference as an MP in 2010, I thought back to when I was a candidate and what that experience had taught me. For instance, when canvassing, I had listened to as many people as possible in order to better understand the issues that mattered most in Wolverhampton. Knowing the importance of this, I still hold weekly surgeries around the constituency, helping constituents in regard to issues such as housing, education and immigration as well as concerns regarding government policy and legislation. If you would like to get in touch, please do not hesitate to contact me. Having recently been in Manchester for this year’s Party Conference, I have reflected on what this Government has done so far to help those who want to work hard. We have cut the deficit by a third, cut income tax for 25 million people and cut immigration to its lowest level in over a decade. In the past year the number of people claiming benefits has fallen to its lowest level in almost five years and national unemployment is continuing to fall. However, unfortunately the unemployment rate in Wolverhampton is far too high and deeply worrying. Having raised questions in Parliament specifically about this and having held a successful jobs fair in the past year, I am now looking forward to the coming year to solve this. This is why I will soon be unveiling the Wolverhampton Employment Network, to get Wolverhampton working again. I will of course endeavour to keep you informed.
